Bought and paid for...

Okay i've had multipule accounts through out the years I've been playing since the game went live.. I bought City of heroes... I bought city of Villians when it came out and I bought going rogue when it came out...thats like a sum of 90 dollars or so...anyways..My point is.. The f2p is a great idea but for peoiple who have been playing as long as I have and people who spent the money on the game and game time deserve what they've bought and played for in the game.. the incarnate stuff was part of buying Going rogue... Since I didn't pay for VIP this month I can't access all my incarnate stuff I lost my lvl shifts and most of my toons that I played to 50 and worked hard and did a lot of hard work IOing out I can't even touch now. i could do without playing some of my toons since I got a bunch of them..But still I believe that I should be able to have access to incarnate stuff without being VIP. Its taking away what I have spent my hard earned cash on and hard game playing time. I truely do love this game, no questions about that.

Thank you for your time,

You can't get everything for free. You may have been paying for it, but if you stop paying you lose access to some things (although with sufficient Reward Tokens you can keep access to them, bar Incarnate stuff which does require an active sub).

Incarnate wasn't part of GR although you need GR to access it, but it wasn't part of GR/Issue 18 proper. Incarnate slots appeared with Issue 19. Don't worry, it's a popular misconception.

Yes, Incarnate slots are gated with VIP/subscription. Sorry you can't play the "end game" without being an active subscriber.

IOs are usable depending on which reward tiers you have unlocked or you can rent access for $2/160 points a month. It's not terribly clear in the comparison chart since it said "limited" but you can't really describe the Paragon Reward tier restrictions in one word.

I've said it before and everyone's ignored me, but I'll say it again anyway:

Prior to Freedom if you stopped paying a subscription you lost access to *EVERYTHING* you'd previously purchased.

Post Freedom if you stop paying a subscription, you lose access to *SOME* things you've previously purchased.

One of these is clearly an improvement over the other yet people seem convinced that they've somehow been stiffed. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done to convince them otherwise.

okay let me put it like this... you get a job.. You work there for 19 years in 3 months you get your pension....Your company sells out to someone else so you still got your job but the company doesn't care you spent 19 years there you got to work another 20 to get a pension now. Hell you feel lucky to keep your hourly rate.. But now their changing your insurance coverage...

Yeah that is actually pretty much how I feel But the sad thing is is that this company wasn't bought out their just taking away my pension and screwing with my life insurance.

That sounds about right.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

If you continue paying your subscription, nothing changes. The only way something changes is if you stop paying. In which case you're *BETTER* off than you would have been previously if you'd stopped paying.

That is a really poor analogy. The real situation is more like this: You worked for a company for several years and they paid you along with a pretty good benefits package. Then one day you called in and said "I'm not coming in to work anymore."

Surprisingly they respond by saying "Well, we hate to lose you. So we'll keep on paying you but have to cut out the benefits package. Anytime you want to come back to work you can get the benefits again."

Your response to this is "What???? I've worked for you for years and now you're cutting my benefits just cause I don't do any work!"

Did you miss the post about how cancelling your sub used to result in you having access to NOTHING. The way it is now is a tremendous improvement. It's unfortunate if it's not to your liking, but don't expect it to change. To expect access to everything for free is LUDICROUS.

That is an AWESOME analogy.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

No I don't expect access to everything but I should at least get to keep my incarnate stuff.

So you wouldn't mind losing everything else you had previously purchased or earned?

You get to keep it. You just don't get to access it without a subscription.

Before Freedom, Incarnate access had two pre-requisites:
  1. Going Rogue code applied to account
  2. Active Subscription
After Freedom, one of those pre-requisites has been removed. The only pre-requisite now is:
  1. Active Subscription
Incarnates were NOT included with Going Rogue. Having a Going Rogue code applied to your account was a pre-requisite for accessing Incarnate content once Incarnate content was released.

The game model that they changed to was not a conventional F2P model. It was their version of a Hybrid model. There are always going to be items available to subscribers that non-subscribers won't have access to. It's called putting out an incentive to become a subscriber.

Or to use a phrase my grandmother used:

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

And you do get to keep it. You don't LOSE anything, they don't hit a massive delete button, and make you start over from scratch.

You just can't USE the powers you already have unless you want to subscribe to the game. It really is that simple.
