Rumor: NCSoft banning CoH accounts for negative comments
Actually, that's a bit foolish on their part. What happens on these boards and in-game is seen by no one outside the CoH community; what happens on the big sites like Massively, etc., becomes EVERYONE'S business. Banning people's accounts here will only inflame them to go into overdrive in front of the public at large.
Although that said, bannings are easily avoided here by doing things with alternative logins in more public places, where you'll get a bigger bang for the buck in the attention department anyway. :P
My guess this is started by the guy who tried to engage in Credit Card fraud with NCSoft and then whined in the forums about his account being banned before his thread was ultimately moderated.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. I am doubtful it had anything to do with any posts on the Facebook page. I mean...how exactly would NCSoft know someone's game Username from their Facebook page? Seems a bit risky for NCSoft assuming John Doe who posts on facebook is the exact same John Doe who has a CoH account. I call shenanigans.
Stop posting rumors. Just stop. It's.. well, it can certainly be classified and described under a number of vitriolic terms. Let's leave it at that.
Also, rumor: You're a cannibal.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Well at least they did post it as a rumor in the thread title and didn't attempt to claim it as a fact.
It's nothing to what their social pages will get if things don't change by December 1st

Uhmm ok?
I highly doubt they care if people spam their social networks; especially considering it's not that hard to simply set options to not allow posts unless approved
I heard from a friend, that knows a guy, who has a sister that dates a guy who knows a girl, that works with a friend who overheard a conversation between two guys, and one said that said his wife's mother spoke with a colleague who may or may not work in an industry that is remotely connected to someone that works for a subsidiary of NCSoft that read an internal corporate email that supposedly, but can't be confirmed, mentions that everyones accounts at CoH will be banned on Nov 30th.
Swear to god.
If you tweet or post #SaveCoH on ANY website NCSoft will ban your account. Seriously! A friend of mine had that happen to them!
CoH places malaware on your computer and a keylogger as well... a friend of mine who works in IT told me about that! You can disable this though if you are in the game and push Alt+F4.
(BTW Alt F4 is the name of my SG)

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw NCsoft kill CoH at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I thought I made it clear that I heard about the incident second hand and not a fact. That it all may have been coincidence and the ban was for something else. If it wasn't clear, I apologize.
My post wasn't intended to stir up trouble. Just wanted people to know their actions may or may not have consequences and mind their P's and Q's. Some people are very passionate about the game and already hurt by its closure. To lose their account in the final days would be twisting the blade.
And honestly any of us could be banned whatever reason strikes their fancy and they would be in their right to do it because of the EULA. Like cake more than pie? Welcome to Bannedville, population: you.
Could be. I have bitten my tongue before and tasted my own blood. Would that be considered cannibalism?

The remaining Paragon staff who have been moderating the forums have been extremely forgiving and understanding, one has to act like a colossal pancake to get moderated or banned.
Mt brother's brother-in-law's former co-worker's neighbor's nephew's friend said a big Korean dude dressed like Oddjob showed up at his house and told him he better stop posting about NCSoft if he "knows what's good for him."

It improved my mood when browsing the forums.
i wouldn't be a bit surprised if the banned account rumor did in fact come from a certain former player who did a very dumb thing and then tried to claim it wasn't his fault when it got his account banned instead of trying to fix it. i'd had no issues with him in the past, but when he aggressively refused to understand simple English and logic... It was like he'd been infected by some sort of evil legacy of distorting facts to align with his rigidly set beliefs instead of adjusting his beliefs to align with newly learned facts.
i certainly haven't been banned for criticizing NCsoft, and i haven't been silent in my criticism. Although admittedly i also haven't been the sort of person who claims they're the fount of all evil just because they made a decision that i disagree with and that i consider to have been a bad decision that was badly (oh so very badly) implemented.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
This is truth. While some of the greater variety of discussion it permitted was nice for a while it has also allowed greater asshattery as well. Even worse (from my point of view) i let the greater profusion of aggressive stupidity and general acrimony provoke me into being a bit meaner despite the number of times i stopped before submitting. i've decided to resume using the ignore feature and let others deal with countering the more chronically stupid and malicious posters.

It's better to wait and see what happens in the next month or so, and then we can really go to town if NCSoft continues to be unreasonable - we've still got over 4 weeks to change the situation.

I run the Boycott NCSoft Facebook group and have been very vocal in my efforts. I've not been banned in game. I've gotten Facebook bans (currently on my 2nd temporary ban for harassing NCSoft), but nothing in game. I'd take the rumor with a full shaker of salt.

The whole thing smells VERY fishy to me the more I think about it. Some people have said WAY WAY worse on these forums and yet they are not banned...where NCSoft can easily link the forum user to the game account....yet they take a chance on banning the wrong person with a FB account?? I think what is more likely is that the banned person did something else; like the credit card charge back for example, and is using this as trying to say NCSoft banned for their words instead of their fraudulent claim to their CC company.
I TRULY hope no one in the SaveCoH camp or otherwise decides to run with this as a "story" based off of ONE person's word. Talk about egg in the face if they do and it ends up he was banned for some completely different reason.... Call me a skeptic but some people way too eager to accept this guy's word when this type of thing has never happened to anyone else....

****JUST RUMOR, NOT FACT. SO FAR JUST THAT ONE PERSON CLAIMS TO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BUT NO PROOF PROVIDED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THEIR COMMENTS ****
According to a poster from the SaveCoH facebook group, they were banned from the game for what NCSoft deemed "negative" commentary on the English facebook page.
Again, take this as rumor, NOT fact. The suspension may be unrelated to the comment, but do be careful.
