If CoH gets saved, what would you like to see to honor #SaveCoH?

If City of Heroes does survive in one form or another, what would you like to see added in-game to commemorate this period of time? Atlas Park 33 on Virtue permanently added? A commemorative story arc? Something else?

AP33 permanently added to every server. A statue of a hero with a torch replacing the braziers on either side of the steps to City Hall. (Figure out how to utilize doppelganger tech to make it a random character from the server's database!) Plaques on the vertical surface to the sides of the steps, below the braziers (future statues).

A statue or something regarding Atlas 33. Even if it's just a giant 33 written on the side of the globe.

Posted

AP33 + torch chest icons, and a "military surplus" style coat with the AP33/torch logo as a tour patch.

And a mission arc to Dimension 334E where you meet a still-living Atlas.

Oh, statues (somewhere) of TonyV, Maressa, and Leandro (or tribute NPCs).

Just rename Atlas Park to Atlas Park 33 permanently and that will do nicely, I'd say.

The current one will be AP3333, but that's ok.

Mike

/Edit: I like the jacket idea too.

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.

The devs need to give TonyV literally anything he wants. Free lifetime sub, statue of his main character in Atlas Park (dwarfing or replacing Atlas himself), all of the pancakes (all of them), the works.

I'd like the TonyV community center added to Atlas Park.

From the mind of my wonderful wife: A non-combat chibi Matt Miller pet that follows you around saying "I gotta eat!". Once you feed it an inspiration or enhancement (which just gets deleted from the game) he says "Om nom nom!"

He can also have a few other random phrases built in, relating to AP33 and other rallying slogans

I would call the badge "Back from the Brink" or "This is What We Do!"

A variation or two on that badge could be:

"Against the dying of the light"
"Never Surrender"
"AP33"
"Not quite dead"
"...this lousy T-shirt" (have to have a bit of humor here...)
"Torch Bearer"
"...this is what we do."

just a few thoughts.

A Trial story arc called "It's What We Do."
Minimum league size: 12, but much better with 48.

Arc contact: The City Hall representative.
The Villains: They look a lot like the MIB types from Crey.

  • Mission 1: The Heroes' Tale. Placed around Atlas Park are several NPCs to talk to, each of them holding a torch. Each relays a story of how they are trying to protect Paragon City from a catastrophic threat. As they tell it, however, ambushes arrive, trying to stop them.
  • Mission 2: Fundraiser. Instead of your usual 'defeat X' mission, utilizing the 'earn favor with the crowd' tech from Time Gladiator, the PCs 'street sweep' (of sorts) to 'raise influence' for the Heroes. Defeating purse snatchers = 10 inf. Putting out fires = 50 inf. Stopping car vandals = 25 inf. Taking on a GM = a lot. And so forth. Taking a page from the Numina TF, these must be done across a minimum of four zones.
  • Mission 3: Endorsements! Time to rope some of the big names in... except now they're all missing! Positron, War Witch, Dr. Aeon, Protean, Viridian, Synapse, Dark Watcher, and Manticore have been kidnapped to keep from lending their support to the Heroes. They've been banished as far from Paragon City and the Rogue Isles as you can get... so it's off to the Shadow Shard to retrieve them.
  • Mission 4: Public Awareness. The PCs want to get the word out about the Heroes' story, but 'forces are at work' to suppress the news. A mission a la the TPN trial to rescue reporters, broadcast it on TV and the internet, etc.
  • Mission 5: Fight the Power. The Powers That Be are really not happy about the Heroes' efforts - and they are going to shut things down whether anyone likes it or not. The instanced Atlas Park map. Generators must be kept running, heroes need to keep City Hall protected, stop statues from being destroyed, etc. You get a 'public favor' bonus for each reporter you saved in the previous mission, as they join you here... but you'd better keep them alive!

(Reward temp power given: 3 random heroes are summoned, a la Phantom Army)

TonyV's face carved into the atlas statue. Atlas Park 33 would be a nice permanent fixture to commemorate #SaveCoH. replace the guy outside city hall handing out fliers with TonyV holding a torch.

Or, we could just rename that NPC. Instead of the somewhat generic, 'activist" (or whatever it is) we could call it Tony.

Just a thought.

I like the Statues holding Torches on City Hall steps Idea and the Tony V Community Center. All with Plaques.

Justice Server Global Name Elfin and Elfin Too #savecoh
I could name my 50s but why? Universal Heroes SG I love this game.

I like the torch-bearing statues idea. Maybe not to replace the braziers, but put a statue in a park somewhere. A small one.

Accuse me of being modest if you must, but saving CoH, and if possible the Devs' jobs, would be reward enough for me.

I mean our heroes risk life and limb to save Paragon City, sometimes the world or even the entire multiverse from evil and rarely are really rewarded, so why couldn't we be the same?

to TO THE END!

As I scrolled through, before posting, only the final one says what I wanted to say!
Having the game would be far more than enough for me!

-- There's already a "The Misty Wood" in Croatoa. Re-naming it "Misty's Woods" to honor Mercedes Lackey's efforts on our behalf would be a trivial matter.

-- I think the idea of replacing statuary and such is a little over the top. But again - placing a new set of History markers? Easy. Also - consider - the History Badge that you get for completing reading the history plaques could itself be "Atlas Park 33".

I agree with so many of these posts I don't even know where to begin!

A permanent AP33 on my home server of Virtue- check! A lifetime sub for TonyV- check! Random hero dopplegangers with torches outside Atlas' City Hall- check!

And more Paragon Studios developer presence in-game here and there, just to say hello- check!
