Real Life Stuff That Reminds You of CoH
Last night at dinner, I noticed a posting behind the hostess counter that said "Dress-up day 9/28 Theme: heroes and villains"
I had no idea that restaraunt even had a dressup day.
Makes me wonder if the manager was a CoH fan.
Wife and I constantly joke about getting a badge for successfully accomplishing something. She's a total badge hunter.
Recently we were reading a plaque in front of a statue, and I started walking around a bit in front of it. "What are you doing" "Why am I not getting the exploration badge? How do you trigger it?"
Other times if we're standing somewhere waiting, we catch ourselves starting to do the various hero stances.
There's a park about a mile from my home that in 2007-2008ish had a huge flood light placed near its' pond. It looks EXACTLY like all those standing plaques we click for history badges! (Richmond Park)*.
There's a road not too far off from where I live as well(neighborhood behind McDonalds in Standale)* named Kings Row.
Then (in Jenison off Chicago DR. by the highway)* there's Paragon Grooming...okay the pet part could remind me of game but, come on, who doesn't see Paragon and think City of Heroes that actually plays this game?
*locations are listed for anyone who lives in the Grand Rapids, MI and would like to check them out...even if it's just Thirty Seven.

Black Dawn/Shattered Dawn
Chaos Legion
You reminded me of another.
There was this new Wentworth store (some sort of art store) that opened in one of our malls. Total double take. Obvious hilarity ensued when we went in to check on how our auctions and bids were doing.
There was a lady standing inside the store, I decided not to walk up to her and poke her, tho, probably would've been jumped by mall security.
There's a "Paragon Travel" agency on the bus route I take to get to work. If only....

Anything that involves the name Paragon reminds me of the game. The same goes for anything that has Pinnacle involved, since that's the server I play on.
Pretty much if anything shares a name with something in the game, I'll think of it.
My grandparents used to live in a Bricktown. I got the names mixed up for years.
Plaques always get me. And there's a Brick Township a bit south of here. Plus anytime we wind up driving on the Pulaski Skyway...
The other day I was waiting for a bus at a bus stop. I waited and waited and it never showed up!

"Why can't the villains ever hide out in the old abandon catnip factory?"
Fighting dark gods in graveyards.
I've been watching Babylon 5 with my daughter in honor of its 20yr anniversary. About halfway through the series we are introduced to a Ranger named Marcus Cole.
We don' need no stinkin' signatures!
I work in a prison profiling inmates. The other day an inmate was rambling on and on and on and I started thinking about dinner or something - then he said something like "I was fighting for my freedom" and I just looked at him and smiled
I am constantly reminded of CoH and my home server (Freedom) at work especially when I see the inmates outside in their orange jump suits as I drive in...I have to remind myself that XP for prisoners is not that much.
Too much. Way, way too much. Apart from the things already mentioned (plaques, the word 'Paragon,' etc) - songs on the radio. Piano Man, Let It Be, American Pie, to begin with - going further, a lot of Meat Loaf and Tom Lehrer songs evoke specific characters. And on both levels, heartbreakingly, The Show Must Go On.

Funny thing happened to me today that I thought I'd share.
I'm a Network Engineer for a small computer company and I had to go to site this morning to install a Wireless Access Point. My contact on site was a dutch fella named Pleun that I'd never met before. When I met him I was greeted by a rather friendly man mountain. 6'7 tall, arms as big as my legs who gleefully shook my hand hard enough that I felt it was going to be ripped off at the shoulder and used to beat me to death.
Anyway, after I'd completed the job I got him to sign the work off. One of the areas that customers need to sign is their position within the organisation. Pleun is the General Manager. He filled this portion in as "GM".
Rather apt I thought.
