Have some fun and show us your very first character
Well, my first character is long gone but from memory looked rather like this:
(Ms Liberty include for scale)
An elec/elec blaster created when I had no idea what I was doing I'm afraid she didn't last long.
The earliest character concept I kept (although the character herself was remade a couple of times) was Chiaros:
Sadly the original costume is lost to time now but the black and white patchwork idea lasted thoughout (what I really wanted was an asymetrical 'quartered' pattern - I kept hoping ) An MA/SR scrapper (eventually) Chiaros made 50 earlier this year, after nearly seven years.
"If there's anything worse than being sacrificed, it's being sacrificed incompetantly."
My very first was an Ill/Rad Controller named NanoBaud. He was a character I created for a comic book I was making with a friend several years previous named Modembut that name was taken even on launch day when I started, probably reserved in Beta (managed to snag it when Exalted went live, though). So I went with NanoBaud as a joke about how I was still on dial-up at the time with an abysmal ping.
I won't lie, we were heavily influenced by Jason Lee and (*shudder*) Rob Liefield when we designed the character originally, and this is almost an exact copy of that concept art.
I eventually deleted him because it took FOREVER to get him to 20 and when I did, the first mission I took was Sky Raiders and the boss was a Jumpbotway back when you had no choice but to always face Bosses and robots were all but completely immune to mental powers. Nothing made me weep so hard as when I saw my usually awesome Phantom Army doing 1 and 2 points of damage every hit.
Though he did get an appearance upgrade shortly before deletion:
"But we are like children, thinking our toys will make us happy and the whole world is our nursery. Something must drive us out of that nursery and into the lives of others, and that something is suffering." C.S. Lewis
This is Johanna Sinclair, my first character (en/en blaster). Also my first 50!
She was, as you can see, inspired by my TRINITY BLOOD fan fiction character, Sister Johanna Sinclair. We didn't have Time Manipulation back in 2007, so I made do with en/en. Her look got revised over the years as new costume options became available, but this was Jo as she first appeared.

Woot! I had to go back through a couple CDs to find it, but here's Trillium's original (TERRIBLE!!) costume! Before we got wings and hoofy feet and I could make her look correct... I'm still sad I never got a horse tail
My original Trio of characters was Cosmic Chris, Kid Kinetics, Mr. Marvel (I liked alliterations!) Unfortunately with the Marvel Lawsuit scare, Mr. Marvel had to go (sadly I didn't realize I had ripped off such an obscure character in the marvel universe http://marvel.wikia.com/Mr._Marvel_(Earth-616) in name only) and was renamed Mr. Liberty.
*edit* Techincally I guess Mark Hawkins was Mister Marvel too, but yeah! Who knew.
One of his I think earlier Costumes :
And later he became Liberty Incarnate because it sounded cool, and then even later it turns out incarnates were a real thing, which was also nifty.
From the last days of Beta to now. See my Avatar to the left here.
CatMan was my first character. Empathy/Energy. The character name is a childhood nickname I've had since I was 3.
CatMan - some form on every server
Always here, there, and there again.
My first character got deleted long ago. I could probably, mostly, recreate him though.
My first is my namesake. His look hasn't really changed over the years. The idea is that he's a suit of armor possessed by it's deceased owner, so there isn't much opportunity to change the pieces. I did replace the original head wings with the near-identical but much cleaner valkyrie ones.
The nice thing though is that I could goof off with his alternate costumes and have it just be a different paint job. Perhaps spoofing other players...
Though I did break down and give him a new set, justified as some kind of incarnate-ascending thing.
Copy and pasted from thread in Victory:
Generally I chose characters/power sets based on your ability to see the character. I always loved and was blown away by the amount of character customization the game allowed you. Also heavy went towards themed sets; fire/fire, ice/ice, etc.
Satanic Hamster;
Invulnerable/mace tanker. First character I ever made. Long term my favorite, enough the Ham-O/ED/Global nerf was a bit depressing for a while. Never took taunt until STF. Also never got into teletanking, even pre-unyielding improvement.
Satanic-Hamster;
Energy/energy blaster. Originally I was making one Satanic Hamster of each AT; this was the only other to survive. Rest never made it past level 18.
Catatomic;
Fire/fire blaster. One of first characters, also long one of my favorites.
Torako;
First and only red side veat. Decided to go with widow instead of soldier because I thought the spider backpack looked cheesey, decided to go the stabby route instead of psi/mind powers.
Te'nar Tushon;
Peacebringer, made shortly after PB's came out and after my first character hit 50. Played with the forms on and off, ended up going pure human. Really wish they'd give mez protection in human form.
Symus;
Claws/wp scrapper. Loved the look of wrist knives.
Suiseiseki;
Grav/rad controller. This was my first controller, created for the old school Hamidon raids. Which were ended/changed by the time this character got to 50. Always loved grav, both the singularities and propel.
Stone Flower;
Earth/cold controller. Debuffing power house. Only made it after they added the crystal option for earth control, other wise the power set looked like crap.
Static Electrikitty;
Elec/elec brute kitty. Made early on but was in storage for a while.
Snow Breeze;
Made this character for Isolators overseas run. Hated it running up, endurance use was horrible and the ice secondary for blasters sucked and is generally useless. One of my favorite blasters at 50, though. Best single target damage of all my blasters and is also a good pocket controller for LGTF and AV's with three Lockdowned single target ranged holds.
SatanicHamsterLeader;
Bots/traps mastermind. Originally made in CoV beta. Took on Positron during the end of Beta event after mocking Synapse. Loved this character though I vowed never to make another mm again (though that changed after the mastermind improvements came into play). One thing I liked most about bots was that, unlike the other MM's, all the pets looked like they went together. Most of the others just looked like a random assortment of ******** who all showed up in the same place.
Rogue Island Fairy;
Elec/storm corruptor. Glad this name wasn't taken. Wish I made it energy blast, though. Elec blast just sucks in general, though visually it's the most awesome of all the blaster sets.
Radiocative;
Rad/rad corruptor.
New Gold Dream;
Arrows/arrows corruptor. Archery can be fun but still seems mediocre over all.
Naru Narusegawa;
MA/regen scrapper. Love MA, awesome damage set.
Miu Matsuoka;
Grav/psi dominator. Love propel. And wormhole. This was another Isolators character. I had phase shift taken for one reason and one reason only; to use on characters that Voodoo's stalker was trying to assassin strike.
Mercury Lamp;
Elec/elec blaster. Kinda dislike this character, just that elec blast is so disappointing.
Matsuri Sakuragi;
Broadsword/will power scrapper. A bit disappointing in BS, animations just feel slow at times.
Man Hamster;
Super strength/elec brute. This is the remake of a level 26ish scrapper I deleted. Hated the hell out of it leveling; just so bad on endurance. The changes to SS and elec armor really turned this character around, though, plus IO'ing.
Makii;
Katana/inv scrapper. Very fun character, one of my best scrappers.
Lost Dream;
Fire/thermal scrapper. This was my first corruptor, hit a brick wall in the upper 30's for a few years. Bad on endurance, hated buffs. IO's really changed this character around. But the big change for me Color Customization. THAT was what brought this character back around for me.
Impy Three;
Storm/elec defender. KB goodness!
Gkika;
Titan/will power brute. Fun character, though I wish there were more titan weapons available.
Garnet Crow;
Dual blade/super reflex scrapper. Probably my best performing scrapper, AWESOME amount of ae damage and massive defense.
Fleeting Instant;
Demons/dark mastermind. Only did this because demons look neat and because of the MM changes. Demons are a bit oversized and over loud. Still confused why they never decided to make a full whip set. Had to drop whips from my final level 50 build, just didn't have the space for it.
Fauxliage;
Beam/devices blaster. Very fun, neat character though I hate ******* redraw.
Elvinae;
Elec/elec dominator. WHY DO I KEEP MAKING ELEC BLAST CHARACTERS, GOD DAMMIT?
Duessa Sabril;
Fire/rad controller. Made after power customization and when I needed more buff characters. Would never have made this character if it wasn't for power customization.
Delerium Trigger;
Axe/shield brute. Hate click based mez protection, though I loved the looks of this character.
Cwen Attez;
Staff/inv scrapper. My only non-50 level character, currently in Isolators. Shame it might not hit 50 and get fully IO'ed and incarnated.
Brittae;
Energy/traps corruptor. Made at the same time as Elvinae.
Afura Mann;
Ill/ff controller. Took it to 50 without using the shields; partly because I hated buffing and partly because I hated Voodoo. Also found this character to be fairly boring; so many encounters where I effectively wasn't doing crap due to a near complete lack of damage. Besides boring pets. :0
Acrasia Sabril;
Dark/dark defender. Made this character at the same time as the other Sabril, needed more buff characters.
Fiona Dae;
Kinetics/sr scrapper. Fun character, though some of the animations are a bit over the top.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
If I recall my very 1st character was Zero Phoenix, on the triumph server. He was based on a character I had created for a PnP rpg called Torg.
My first L50, though, and prolly my favorite character, is Dr. Reptilicus, a DM/Regen scrapper. And, I still have his 1st costume from way back when.
And together, then and now
48 L50 Mostly heroes and mostly Tanks and Scrappers.
And I've played every AT to 50 at least once.
The inestimable blapper who can tell exactly where he is in paragon just from the taste of the dirt. (cause he's eaten so much of it. The unconcious blaster from those cape radio commercails? thats me. or would be if I'd been known to them when they wrote em)
Cant take too much credit, this particular costume was designed for me by the lovely and talented Anhkani as the best way to represent an already existing charecter design in game terms. (I / he turned into a human sized Valkerie from Macross/Robotech; again something from before my arrival here)
A little late to the party, like always.
This is my very first character. Got the game, patched it to Issue 1 (which took a very long time on dial-up), picked a server and rolled a scrapper for the friends that introduced me to this game didn't have a melee character for the team, and leveled up a bit. Unfortunately I remembered the wrong server they were playing on.
So, with apologies for squatting the name on Virtue since August 24th, 2004, my first character Jolly Rodger, a Broad Sword/Super Reflexes scrapper.
Once they told me of my error in server choices, I had to roll a new character over on Victory. Since this was during the time before the Marvel suit and there were plenty of "homage" characters running around and I wanted to see if I could duplicate a particular character I created Agent Kei ...
as in Kei of The Dirty Pair. She's a Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Scrapper.
Jolly Rodger is still Level 8 after all these years and Agent Kei is Level 28, stopping some time before Issue 9.

Healix was my very first creation. I wanted her to look like she came from another world to help support and heal. I chose the wierd cone hat because no one else was using it. When in the early issues, trollers were so squishy it was almost impossible to solo.
Many things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.
Bit of a story attached to my first toon...
The Christmas after CoH launched, an American friend came to stay with me in the UK for the holidays, and he brought his copy of CoH along for me to see.
I was smitten, and created Sword of Albion, a broadsword/regen scrapper and played him over the Christmas Event where the lakes of Paragon were all turned to ice...
When my friend returned to the US, I had to wave goodbye to Sword of Albion - at least until the European launch of City of Heroes, when the first thing I did with my shiny new EU install of the game was to remake him.
The costume I made was nearly identical to the original (the US version is on the left in this picture, the EU version in the middle, and his most current costume on the right)
The keen eyed among you may have spotted the US toon is standing in current Atlas Park...that's because I recently asked my US friend if the original toon was still alive. He said he was, and in fact hadn't been touched since I left him all those years ago! And he went and dug him out so I could see him again for old time's sake
Then I found Gemini Park (Virtue) one day, and saw people creating actual, real characters.
I deleted such creations like 'Crazy Old Man', and 'Lt. Sakura Kasugano'.
8 years of altitis begins.
One or two knockoffs did survive because I loved their base characters.
The Saikyonator
My first true OC, who was with the original PCPD supergroup.
Reconstruction
This was not a knockoff, but very heavily inspired by another game, eventually evolved into my main hero.
Belle Bonne
The first toon I rolled for this game...
Well, I still have it, untouched. Rolled my first toon on Champion server, because the name sounded cool. Decided from the descriptions I'd be a tank. Created the toon, and built in my mind an image of a brawling biker. Someone kinda anti-heroish, though not grimdark, just rough around the edges, more interested in hot chicks and free beer than being noble. So he became an invul/SS tanker...
...named Harleyfire.
Harley because he was a biker...fire because...of the flames on the outfit.
Such a dumb, misleading name. Anyone seeing it in chat or in the team search window might think I was a fire blaster. And for a biker, he's wearing a tight shiny outfit. All patent leather, with a ponytail and a cigar.
Anyway, it wasn't the outfit that turned me off of him. It was the slow feel of SS combat. Big, slow punches that anyone should be able to dodge. And since your first toon became your global, I was @Harleyfire for a while, which I hadn't been aware of at the time of picking the name, or I might have picked something else.
All these years later, I'm looking at him and thinking he really should be a StJ/Will brute. With a better outfit. And possibly a better name.
I forget which of the two really came first, but before SGs these were the two I had for the most part. Altitis didn't set in until I started maping storylines and eventually got a 2nd acct to help manage the group when others were offline.
K'larh - This is the closest I can get to the original costume as there have been several costume piece issues over the years and even this one has a lock on it because of that. Note: I was so thrilled when I got ahold of the CC because I could make a female toon withOUT having a pair of basketballs on her chest!

My very first character was an attempt at reproducing a superhero I created some time between 1987 and 1991. Back then I got the idea for a hero tailored to my hometown. I live in an agricultural area where the primary crops are apples and other tree fruit (my city calls itself "The Apple Capitol of the World"). So I came up with Captain Apple. He had no powers, instead relying on training and gadgets, ala Batman (but completely lacking Batman's grimness and dark persona). He was intended to be one of those 4th-wall-breaking, aware-he's-in-a-comic-book type of characters.
I reproduced his costume as best I could using the parts available in the CC:
The big "A" on his chest should actually a big red apple, but there was no such symbol available. I also had to call him "Big Apple", as the name "Captain Apple" was already taken (didn't occur to me to try a different server). Being much more familiar with the CC now, I look at this picture and see some things I would do differently if I tried to make him again. He was an electric melee scrapper (can't remember his secondary). As it is, the character just didn't work out and I deleted him fairly quickly.
My first character to "stick" was my fire/fire blaster, Flaminatrix (earliest picture of her I can find - I think that barbarian chest detail was the first thing I bought from the store):
She turned out to be a lot of fun, and ended up becoming my only level 50/incarnate character. (I would have more, but I only discovered the game a year ago, and I'm a hopeless altoholic - I think I have 91 characters...)
I never did find an actual screenshot of BZB's first costume, so I rebuilt it from memory.
Here's the original Bill:
And here he is when cranked to 11:
Be well, people of CoH.
This was my first character, Excimer, an Energy/Energy blaster created back in August 2004.
No pictures yet, At work at the moment, but my first toon's first costume is basically gone forever due to my personal memory and the fact it was replaced a long time ago.
----------------------where image will be--------------------------
On a side note, My first warshade was kinda a joke character. "Whoreshade"
