Let's not Boycott anyone...
I dunno, I boycotted SOE after they launched Station Exchange, because I don't believe games should be jobs.
It saved me from having to try DCUO...
What NcSoft did to Paragon isn't fare either, I never like any of there game and then Coh came along and met a lot of good people.
We should stop playing any of there games and we should try to get our game back form the chopping block, right now it's on Death Row.
Never play another NcSoft game, If you feel pride for our game, then it as well, I Superratz am Proud of all of you Coh people, Love, Friendship will last for a lifetime.

I don't think I'll purchase another subscription based game from NCSoft after this, too much time and investment to have it just snatched away like this.
Brawling Cactus from a distant planet.
I refuse to pay money, i was gonna try GW2 on NC softs merit alone, that merit is now gone, i have no respect for the company until they turn this around or otherwise make it possible for the devs to split off from the company and maintain the game by selling them the IP.

Surely, if you were going to try it, it should have been on GW/Arenanet merits...
I'm not refusing to touch another NCsoft game because I'm mad they cut my favorite one. I'm not boycotting them out of some sense of vengence, I believe I'm making a decision as a smart consumer.
I'm refusing to touch another one of their games because I don't trust their bussiness strategy. Me supporting their titles ammounted to spit in the end, because instead of letting Paragon Studios go off on their own and develop oustide the NCsoft blanket, they went scorched earth on our game and community and don't show any indication they care that we've been burned in the process.
It's ok if CoH doesn't fit their future goals, but to take the support we gave them through this game and community and basically tell us, tough nuts play one of these games instead, I'm done with them.
Unless they decide to repay the support this community showed them, by freeing the IP, assets and development team to continue without them (Either as Paragon Studios or perhaps a development team working for Valve, I don't care we're not done with this game), I'm done with them.

Sorry disagree scarlet , Time to boycott the heck out of NCSOFT.
This also teaches publishers they have a responsibility , other then look at stupid stats and sweet talks of marketing .
$$ is money , and profit is profit , when they set quota and deadline , they are met.
Then sorry , what more is to be said !
if a publisher cannot abide by it's own rules , how the heck can developers or studios .
Rules are Rules , and lawyering is part of the rules ,
You cannot simply say , he I want more profit !
When you set the quota that is met !
Sorry. I will never give my money to NCsoft again. As another poster said, it is just not a smart investment. They as far as I am concerned that company no longer exists.

William hit my feelings on the head. I won't avoid their games out of vengeance or fury. I'll avoid them because I now know how they do business and it doesn't mesh well with what I want from an MMO.
Not that a shutdown can't happen to any game, but NCSoft seems to prefer to euthanize their games at the drop of a hat rather than slowly letting them wind down for the sake of the community they've created. There are older games out there with smaller communities and worse graphics, but they're still hanging in there and in some cases, even still being updated with new content. Their profit margins must be razor thin, but other companies let them continue, even brag about their longevity. Not NCSoft. They have no sense of loyalty to their existing customer base. With this fact in mind, I would not purchase another game that they have the power to destroy the moment that their accountants deem it expedient.
I understand what you are saying, but this is the fourth MMO I have been an active part of, and loved dearly, that NCsoft has pulled the plug on. At this point I just don't think it'd be smart of me to give them that opportunity again.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
It just might do other NCSoft employees some good when the company learns that treating your employees like used toilet paper is not acceptable. Assuming anything NCSoft makes even survives in the North American/European markets after this debacle.
It sure makes me feel better because otherwise I'd be tempted to do something very ill advised and illegal. Everyone is safer all around. No one gets hurt and I don't go to jail.
Plus my money doesn't go to sadistic bastards. That's always a plus. I shop for everything else with an eye to the environment and how workers are treated, MMOs shouldn't be any different.
Edited to be nicer.

otherwise I'd be tempted to do something violent, illegal, and very bloody.

Again what everyone else is saying, this is the 3rd game for me they have axed despite it being successful, i have no faith that money spent on nc is well spent anymore.
I'm just gonna play whatever game actually looks worth it, same as I always have.
Thing is, CoH is the only MMO that's ever actually been worth it to me.

If this game was WOW, CO or Star Wars, I wouldn't mind saying Axe it. I won't mind that at all, but Coh is Unique and I enjoy it a lot. I say go ahead and Boycott NcSoft, They are Bastards for doing this too us.

This is the only MMO I've ever played. I have no interest in any other. I've had a subscription for nearly 6 years now. I've bought every costume pack and powerset I could get my obsessive little hands on. If NCSoft shuts this down, they will never see me or any of my hard-earned dollars ever again.
For the same reasons others here have said, I won't be buying another NCSoft published game. If this game were losing money, then I'd still be angry but I'd understand it. The fact is I spent several hundred dollars this last year to support my favorite game, only to find out that the parent company couldn't care less about the financial health of the game, they'll shut it down even when it makes money.
NCSoft betrayed my trust, and I am very angry about that, but more importantly they proved that they neither care about the health of the game nor their paying customers when it comes to their decisions. It would be stupid for me to ever give them money again.

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.
Eh. Being honest, as much as I enjoyed GW1, and even though ultimately GW and Wildstar aren't *really* NCSoft, this whole thing as soured me so much that I'm not certain I'll look at either of their offerings.
I, unfortunately, bought GW2 before I got the news of this. If I could I would return it.
We can't do anything about their decision. We can try to purchase it from them. Which is something I will support.
I'm not going to boycott NCSoft games. But I won't spend any more money on NCSoft games. I'll just take advantage of free-to-play and ignore the cash shops.
Don't boycott NCSoft? Why not? I don't see the point of continuing to buy product(s) from a company that will take my money and then essentially euthanize what I'm paying them to provide. That's just bad business. It'd be the same if say, a supplier I was using to get turbine engines suddenly closed their factory and fired all their employees in this fashion - even if they start building engines again at a later date, even if they're very good engines, I wouldn't use that supplier anymore because I can't rely on them. Simple as that.

I think the photographic evidence is pretty damning, personally:
There are only two possibilities from this photo:
1) NCSoft made the decision to cut City of Heroes in 10 or fewer days. In which case, they are crazy.
2) They deliberatley misled us into buying a powerset they had no intention of supporting on even a semi-long term basis.
I have\ never before accused a game company of straight up lying, but that's exactly what happened here. They lied, and took my money. I have no legal recourse, and am not really seeking it. But this company doesn't have a shred of respect for its own customers and I would urge anyone considering making micropurchases from them to reconsider.
because it never ends up doing anyone any good.
