Another teaser image on Twitter
seems like an expanded use/refinement of doppleganger tech.
That or Paragon's really investing in those statues so they can even have the powers of the hero they mimic.

Statues? It looks like those people are just small standing near a normal sized(or slightly bigger than the tallest you can get) guy.
But that did make me think that it would be cool if they made a statue that used doppleganger tech and phase tech so we can all see ourselves in a statue

Maybe it is some sort of statue phasing tech (where I would see my main toon as a statue but my teammate would see himself up there)
Edit:
Either that or we have a new powersets...Growth!

Interesting that the "statue's" feet do not seem connected to the ground.
Speculation: maybe it's not a statue, but a Macy's parade balloon?

I'm going with Paragon City finally respecting us enough/Rogue Isles fearing us enough to build us statues out of respect/fear.
Look at the size of the tiles on the ground and the spacing between the windows. The others aren't tiny, he's large. While growth would be cool, note that right in front of the larger hero/statue, there's a person wearing the exact same costume as him.
Player statues?
EDIT: It's in Galaxy. Could that mean something? New wave of Battalion!Shivans taking form of the first hero they see, so sort of the doppelganger tech like mentioned earlier in the thread?
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
Hmm, if this IS doppleganger tech plus increase in size, what will it be like for Masterminds if they actually start using their powers?
HEADLINES: 50 foot ninjas attacking paragon city!
First thought: WOAH! OMG YES!!!!!
Second thought: I hope this is in a zone and not in a single mission

The one thing that makes me doubt it being a statue is the aura on the hands which, coincidentally, isn't on the smaller version. It could be a contact.
other bits of inference: The "statue" is apparently located in a ruined city.
Either Praertoria decides to erect a monument of your character on the ashes, Paragon builds a statue to honor you but the city it's in gets blown up shortly there after/this is a new version of the finale of Time and Time Again, or this is a further updated Tina/Unai mission (forgot which one had it) where you go to the ruins of an alternate earth where you became an overlord.

the characters have traveled through time. They see a statue of a great hero from the past - one of the characters.
I hope that these teaser pictures become a regular thing before each Issue - the speculation is fun

That's what I'm beginning to think... an Ouroborous related mission that has the mission holder as the point of reference for the 'statue' (which they hopefully 'greyscale' by the time it goes live).
Especially when coupled up with the other odd teaser 'map pic'.
Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

It looks like they were wrong.
So, if they can make doppelgangers transparent and invert the colors, could they also make them all gray or metal?
.
I asked on the beta server why the doppel tech couldn't be used to make large statues/hologram monuments of us and was told by one of the devs it could not and they couldn't do that.

Plus this "statue" has what looks like an Invinicibility aura. So I don't think it is a statue after all. But we'll just have to wait and see on what it officially is.
it's a statue or hologram of the guy in the center.
pretty cool, combine this with 'phasing' tech and your character could have various shrines to them erected throughout the game.

There appears to be a plaque on the statue base.
I really should do something about this signature.
The "base" the "statue" is standing on is the podium from the supergroup base editor. The aura on the "statue" is a power aura... Possibly from invulnerability or temp invulnerability cuz I think that character is a blaster type from previous images featuring him.
Having 4 characters present and one angry at the statue suggests a possible 4 person team (duh).

*yeah, I quoted myself.
There seems to be some kind of light beam emitting from the crystal on the base behind the big guy, and connecting somewhere behind his back. That says "hologram projector" to me.
As for it being doppleganger tech though, I think it's actually AE's hologram contact tech. That's been working just fine in standard zones for years. Lets you put any outfit you like onto a non-moving figure, that can be different for each person viewing it. Just makes more sense they'd use that... if it really is a holographic tribute of some kind.
And I've always felt that we'd get back into Galaxy City one day, as the zone where we fight the Battalion (or at least the first wave of their direct attack). From a writer's point of view that's too poignant a setting to just ignore... fighting back the invaders in the very place they destroyed? Come on! That just screams "Get off my planet!!!"
This is shaping up to be a gooood issue.
"Welcome to Monday! Here's something that should take the edge off!"
WTH?
