The shadows of Night Ward are cold, dark and terrifying…and this Thursday they’re coming to a server near you!
We will be bringing all live servers offline at 6:00 AM CDT (7:00 AM EDT/4:00 AM PDT/12:00 PM BST) on Thursday, 5/31/2012 for the deployment of Issue 23: Where Shadows Lie. At this time we anticipate that all servers will be back online no later than 2:00 PM CDT (3:00 PM EDT/12:00 PM PDT/8:00 PM BST). We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

One very important note: Last week, many VIP players received an email advising them that the Celestial Armor Tier 9 VIP Paragon Reward would be retired from the Paragon Rewards Program on 6/5/2012. Because the launch of Issue 23 has been advanced, this date has also changed. This means that we will be introducing the new Tier 9 VIP Reward, The Mecha Armor costume set, on 5/31/2012 and phasing out the Celestial Armor costume set as a Tier 9 VIP Reward at the same time. As such, the Celestial Armor costume set will be unable to be claimed via the Paragon Rewards interface on this date.

For those Tier 9 VIP players planning on earning and redeeming Paragon Reward Tokens towards the Celestial Armor set before 6/5/2012 (whether through your monthly VIP subscription or through the purchase of Paragon Points); fear not, we have a solution for you! Tier 9 VIP players who earn Paragon Reward Tokens between this Thursday, 5/31/2012 and next Tuesday, 6/5/2012 who wish to redeem their tokens towards the Celestial Armor set should simply follow these steps:

  • Purchase your Paragon Points (if applicable). Do NOT allocate the Reward Tokens you are awarded.
  • Contact Customer Service by filing an in game petition. Be sure to mention the fact that you have just earned a Paragon Reward Token and that you wish for it to be allocated to the Celestial Armor reward option.
  • Your Paragon Point purchase or VIP Reward Token allocation will be verified by Customer Service and rewarded accordingly. Please allow up to two business days for this request to be processed.

We do apologize for any inconvenience that this change in dates may cause anyone!

Excited as I am to have new shinies to play with tomorrow, will this affect the STF being the WST for this week? Wasn't i23 supposed to turn it into Penelope Yins TF?

Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.

It's supposed to turn Sister P's TF into Penelope Yin's TF, not STF.

Not sure how it'll affect STF though.

As per today's Ustream: No. Retro Sci-Fi will be released sometime in June other than Thursday's Issue publication. It's obviously slated for one of the Tuesday Market releases.

Have they fixed the crash issue with Cole's personal mission or is still crash to desktop if you use his nuke?

I'm tempted to start an STF tonight, but not finish it. With a character that I don't mind if it's unplayable for a while

The wiki folks seemed awfully gracious about their offer. If the Fr/Deu communities didn't take them up on it, it's hardly the fault of the wiki staff...

In any case, bully for Paragon Studios releasing this early. This is exciting and fun.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Is anyone else of two minds on the whole portal system?

One of the things I like about Paragon City is that it has placement. Perez Park is South of Steel Canyon, which is south of Boom Town. Atlas is West of Perez. The zones flow. All the zones make up the city.

The Rogue Isles are just some random places connected by boat in the least convenient way possible. There's no structure, and all you have to remember is that you have to go to the boats to get anywhere. This is one major reason why I dislike redside so much.

Then Vanguard & the metro unification came to Paragon, and it saved Founder's Falls. Yay for travel that fits into the world. Mostly. It's organized: You have to go to the vanguard centers & the metro is just more convenient.

And having Oro means we see level fifties outside Peregrine Island. And it's a place of it's own. A Hub. There's stuff you can do there. Honest! Go look it up.

But now we just lay down portals all over the universe willy-nilly. No hubs, no centers, no metros, no boats. No gathering places, no flow, no continuity. Might as well just make random unconnected zones, just like in all those games that haven't been around for 8 years. I'd like a North Pole Zone, and a Mount Everest Zone and a Marianas Trench zone and a Valles Marineris zone while we're throwing away the city, plz.

Anyway, I'll use'em, and I'll appreciate the time savings, but I won't like'em. Not a bit.
