You know, they've explained this quite a lot. You can still get them for a limited time after I23 goes live, and then somewhat later they will be released via a different method.

And having Oro means we see level fifties outside Peregrine Island. And it's a place of it's own. A Hub. There's stuff you can do there. Honest! Go look it up.

But now we just lay down portals all over the universe willy-nilly. No hubs, no centers, no metros, no boats. No gathering places, no flow, no continuity. Might as well just make random unconnected zones, just like in all those games that haven't been around for 8 years. I'd like a North Pole Zone, and a Mount Everest Zone and a Marianas Trench zone and a Valles Marineris zone while we're throwing away the city, plz.

Anyway, I'll use'em, and I'll appreciate the time savings, but I won't like'em. Not a bit.
I have seen but a few of these posts about people complaining that devs are making travel more "convenient" for others, but there seem to be a select few that have an issue with it and thematically call it random...

The way I see it, if you don't like em, don't use em. Pretend like they are not there. After all, we are playing a MMORPG, where we pretend we are heroes/villains, just do the same with the portals...

...and remember "There is no spoon."

You should try it. My uh, educated guess, is that you'll find the task force contact has magically changed appearance and name, but you'll still be able to continue on it.

Logging in on beta now to check to see if todays patch fixed it as was still making me crash last week.

We all know they usually shoot for Tuesday releases but there have been a couple of Thursday releases which worked reasonably well in the past. The precedent for this is established.

This Issue was effectively ready to go a couple of weeks ago but they stumbled over a couple of last minute bugs that held them up a bit longer. From what I've seen this Issue now appears to be as solid as any other so it doesn't seem overly risky to push it out the door now.

Let's just say I'm not extremely surprised to see this one get a Thursday launch date.

Just ran the mission and indeed it still makes you crash if you use the nuke Guess i'll put a notice on Union Chats MoTD so people know to avoid it

Your post is the first I heard of it, but I just now read all about it and now I am of two minds: I can't decide whether it's the best thing ever in the game or only one of the top two or three best things ever.

Calling it a "Quality of Life Upgrade" is an understatement. I cheer every time the devs take away another artificial obstacle to enjoying the game. I'm not interested in playing City of Commuters or City of You Can't Get There From Here. I want to play a superhero comic book role-playing game set in a universe where things like this portal system would absolutely exist.

I also like how it's one more way that they're making Atlas Park not only relevant, but also the undisputed center of the city. And if so many services are going to be available in (and, in some cases, only in) Atlas Park -- as they should be -- then, yes, definitely make it as instantly accessible as possible, thanks. Just like it should be in a superhero comic book world.

And I agree with the idea that if you don't like it, don't use it. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't use it. But I already love it and I can't wait to use it.

New release on a Thursday? Are you mad?! I would have expected to see a release on a Tuesday, like after the last Statesman TF and Lord Recluse SF with Statesman in it, not the "New" modified ones for the weekend.

Thematically it is random. Would equally convenient portal buildings be any different? Put the currently non-existent 2nd floor into the new City Hall and put the portals there. Any sufficiently advanced technology might still do better with a roof to keep the weather and invasion spawns out.

I'm hard-pressed to understand why you'd find the Rogue Isles any less coherent than Paragon City. As a collection of islands, yes using ferries and where available, helicopters, to travel makes perfect sense. There is a map of how the Isles are laid out, just as there is of the City zones; it's not like they're free-floating rocks wandering around the Atlantic. IMO, the islands are at least as thematically connected with each other as any of the zones in Paragon City. That is of course, just my opinion and yours obviously differs.

As to the new tunnel system, I'm all for getting from one place to another as easily as possible. My only slight worry is that the tunnels might use the same effect as the Shadowed Paths in First Ward (granted I haven't checked this out on beta). That's only because entering one of the Shadowed Paths can come dangerously close to triggering my motion sickness, but I can usually tolerate it.

Nope, I love faster travel.


If there was a power that allowed me to tp to the mission entrance and it was up (able to be used) every 30s, I'd get it and use it every time.

I've seen it all (scenery) by the time a new issue hits live so...meh.

With the addition of the portals will or have beacons been placed in Imperial city, Night ward, First ward etc for Base teleporters?
