I saw Dark Shadows. Kill me.

'Twould be mercy than let me live another moment with the memory of the film tearing apart the decades I have laboriously constructed a cognitive castle where logic and aesthetics lovingly embrace. It is all in shambles after that conflagrative cinematic napalm brought it down.

Mind you, I've enjoyed every other Burton/Depp movie I've seen. I can only speculate that Burton and Depp have entered a bubble where a third person point of view is incapable of entering and informing with constructive criticism. The Echo Chamber of Doom has been constructed. I fear that my $18 for an IMAX experience has only cemented the seams of that inwardly mirrored ball rather than shattered it.

Woe. Woe is I.

For some odd reason I couldn't help but read this with a Johnny Depp voice. Sorry to hear that the movie didn't turn out so well.

This is the second time I let a friend convince me to see what's playing at the IMAX in NYC simply because it's IMAX even though I was pretty sure it was going to be awful. The other was The Rock vehicle, Journey 2: The Mysterious Isle, whose plot was as inexplicable as Dark Shadow, but, at least it was marketed as pre-adolescent fantasy.

Meanwhile, when it was my choice, we saw Alice in Wonderland (which worked because it was supposed to be plotless, so, thank-you drug-addled Lewis Carroll).

Next time I suspect it's going to be a stinker, I'm making them pay.

Well at least the two joked about making a Beetlejuice 2 which would be awesome.

The whole Tim Burton/Johnny Depp thing has more than run its course, IMO.

Oh look, it's another movie by those two...and what's this? Depp's playing a pale and eccentric character? Helen Bonham Carter is also in it? Wow...original...

You're right but I hope that he can squeeze out Beetlejuice 2 if possible...and make it as good as the first one...but then I should know better shouldn't I.

If it lacks Michael Keaton, it won't be as good!

Keaton and Winona Ryder were my faves in that movie...it had an all star cast for its time. The cartoon was amazing as well *sigh*.

Well so much for me going to see Dark Shadows. I'll guess I'll try MIB 3

I know people who saw it and enjoyed it.

Really, you should make up your own mind on seeing it

It's a bit of a running joke too.

You read my mind.

And the previews didn't entice me in the slightest to spend any money; looked like a bad sequel the "The Vampire's Apprentice" or even the new "The Sorcerer's Apprentice".

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

In fairness, when they do something good... it's good/great... but if it's not, they're not going to salvage it just because it's them.
I love some of Burton's stuff, but his camp/tribute/goof-ons tend to be movies that I don't enjoy and/or have no interest in (Ed Wood being the large exception on that score for me).

I'll forgive them for slip-ups if I get a Sweeney Todd every now and then.

Dark Shadows is just one I knew I'd avoid (unless I saw glimpses that made me think differently - which did not happen).

I was surprised to see the trailer for the full-feature-length Frankenwiener... Don't recall if Depp is in that. Seems a bit thin to stretch out for a full length movie...

heh Just saying, people may enjoy it.

Haven't seen it myself. But I'm also not the big Burton/Depp fan, when it comes to their movies together.

I like them both just not necessarily when they work together. Sometimes they can be awesome but other times it just feels like the same old thing over and over again.

I don't think it's any co-incidence that I think that Burton's finest film is Big Fish.

I watched and enjoyed the film... to be honest the only part I disliked was the "Deal with it" part..it was bad.. really bad! Everything else? Fine by me.

Even the crummy ones have some good scenes, true.

I watched it with my mom while I was visiting her for her birthday. She said multiple times that she would have to get the soundtrack, and seemed to be OK with it. I, on the other hand, was surprised it was only 2 hours long. It felt like six.

i saw some poster around Manhattan with just headshots of the cast a few days before the movie came out and asked "Why is Johnny Depp pretending to be Michael Jackson?"

Then i got close enough to read the smaller text on the posters...
"Oh."
