Bout what I expected. Or rather, what I hoped. Didn't hold any delusions it'd be a 'good' film, but at least wanted it to not suck (Like MIB2).
Thanks for the feedback. Think I'll go see Avengers again.
MIB 3 was a good movie, the ending was touching and tied a lot together.
Movie was a 100 times better than part 2, I felt that the ticket price was justified. Pretty good flick.

yeps considering its a scifi comedy about time travel it was pretty coherent. thats the biggest thing I was worried about
Now we aren't ready quite yet to let the catgirls out of the bag.... (quote from ex libris)
I used to like MiB, but after seeing it a few times, I came to realize how totally insulting it is towards the entire human species.
When J first becomes and agent, there's the tour, and part of the tour is showing how aliens all over earth are being monitored to make sure they stay in line. It's one thing to show the wierd school teacher from Saturn's moon, or Tony Robbins. Fruitcakes who don't really fit in can be aliens as much as they like.
But there were a lot of other people on that wall, like Spielberg, or Elvis (not visible there, but mentioned). Then there's the technology like velcro and CDs, all obtained via alien technology.
I greatly dislike how humans are basically treated as idiot vermin without any creativity or personality. We can't progress our own technology, and our highest echelon creative types aren't people at all, so apparently we can't pull that off either.
So, I don't watch MiB, and I don't intend on seeing MiB3.

Saw it. It wasn't bad.
I will say though, if you haven't seen Avengers yet, see Avengers, it was the better movie.
If you're deciding between Avengers for the multiple times and MiB3, and you want to pick the better movie, even if you've seen it before, pick Avengers.
If you're the type who doesn't care to do repeat viewings of a movie, have seen Avengers, and looking for a fun movie, see MiB3!
If you're looking for more action...see Battleship.

Have a theoretical question about the movie. The weird autistic alien says Death follows Death or something like that. So *** is injured by the evil alien. If K didn't kill evil alien, would *** be still alive?
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

But as to the question...hmmm...don't know! If K didn't kill the evil alien or didnt apprehend it there, then *** would likely be dead now.

"Id like to share a revelation that Ive had, during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you arent actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with its surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply, and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we... are the cure."
Smatter? Truth hurts? I guess you really hated the Matrix when Agent Smith accurately described the human race.

Well Death did follow death, just as the alien said.

I am thinking there are two realities. The original one where *** joined the MiB and the evil alien lost his arm and the new one where *** and the evil alien died. It could also explain why young K changed into old K. Separating a kid from their dad due to MiB recruitment policies could cause the shock that caused K to be so guarded.

As to who was going to die and how that person's death connected to things, I had that figured out when the alien saw the watch.
Basically as it stands both K and especially J's are essentially walking time paradoxes. K had to live and save the Earth otherwise Earth would be conquered, and for that to happen he has to recruit J in the future and get him trained as an MIB agent first class. But K can't tell J certain things because then the risk of the time stream getting even more scrambled could occur. That would explain old K's attitude problem in the beginning of the movie, he knew that things were about to hit the temporal fan as it were and his phone call to J was his attempt to try to tell him but he didn't and J has to put the pieces together and then go back and set things right. Basically this reminded be of Back to the Future where Doc of 1955 learned of things of the future from Marty's visit to 1955 and then how later we see that Doc has been to the future and seen and learned things but couldn't or I should say WOULDN'T tell Marty about his own future for fear of altering things and that somethings Marty had to learn and realize for himself. Same thing with MIB 3, Agent J has to learn somethings for himself that K couldn't tell him for fear of altering time.
The explanation for how J remembered things as they were however was pretty flimsy even though of course time travel is a fictional concept and thus the rules of time travel and changing the time stream and its effects can be broadly interpreted.
Overall an interesting time loop plot.
MIB 3 was fun, a bit better then 2 but then again I also for the most part liked 2. However Avengers is the superior movie by far and MIB3 is not going to take the top spot away from the Avengers. See both movies, have fun
What was there to take care of? The humans basically destroyed the planet fighting the machines. Machines they built themselves. The humans were responsible for creating the whole situation.
|
Just saying, the machines don't seem like they did much better as the rulers of the planet.
I dunno, cleaning up the vast wastelands, maybe trying to unburn the sky, recultivating the remaining flore and fauna. They had something like a couple centuries, instead they just farm humans and play games in the tunnels letting them rebuild Zion before trashing it and starting it over again.

If the machines were solar powered and they adapted to using humans as a power source, why didn't they just leave Earth for outer space where sunlight is plentiful and they could get reources from the asteroids and other planets? Of course there wouldn't have been a movie then.
Saw it last night ($5 Tuesday's). Agree, better than the second. Younger O was hot.

Well went out today and saw MIB 3(non 3d), overall my opinion is that it wasnt a bad movie. It had a few honest laughs in it and while I could see a plot point near the end, it didnt disrupt my enjoyment of the film. Stayed past the end of the credits, nope nothing after them. Overall its a good see it once in the theater popcornflic that didnt overstay its welcome.
