Yeah, but given the teaser story we need it to look steam powered and be called the Prussian Prince. It would have been cool if the invasions were a series of mini instanced maps, like the Halloween trial or Winter Realm. Depending on the city zone, the mole machine or sub could have been visible somewhere in the terrain to at least justify the hordes of troops swarming about.

The first invasion I fought off in Kings Row took us a bit, but I did end up with a nice chunk of 20 Fake Nemesisisisis in my defeat list.

I don't think I saw any Fakes or Warhulks in the second attack in Skyway. We were, however, fighting right on top of Synapse's pedestal so I'm thinking a good chunk of the spawn was falling off or spawning down and out of AOE range. I'll keep that in mind for the next fight there.

I'm thinking patience folks...

Z said something about scripted events, not event. This is just the first week.

Having not been on the Beta for a while (been really busy writing my AE arcs when I'm not playing) I have no authority to say this, but I just get the feeling that there will be escalation throughout the month. They've never done a month long invasion event (not even for Halloween) so I'm thinking they have something in mind to make up for the lack of direct Dev participation (as they pointed out in other posts).

Statesman is dead. I'm thinking before it's over with Nemesis will start pulling out the big guns, like mole machines, war horse buffbots, and other surprises. That's what I'd do, anyway.

Frankly I'd be truly surprised if they didn't.

There you go, Z and company, this is a hint that if I'm wrong you better get on the ball

Well your group/team/league was doing something wrong because it took my Staff/WP stalker a total of three invasions to pass the 100 defeated mark on Fakes and get the final component needed for the Freedom Phallanx badge. Not only were they there but we battled both Boss and Elite Boss levels of both Fake Nemesis and Warhulks. I also got my 100 defeats on my Staff/EA Brute earlier in the day.

As others pointed out the larger the group fighting and the faster the defeats occur the more you see.. On a league in Talos that had 8 teams and close to 50 members I managed over 30 fake defeats. On a 16 man league in Kings Row the numbers were less but we still saw both Fakes and warhulks (boss and EB level).

my limited experience with the new invasion is a very meh - there's no challenge once level shifted and it everything dies so quick it's just a few minutes of monotony.

I used to love the raids - but these really need some more work to even begin to be exciting.

This sums it up for me perfectly.

I suppose one could consider 1 thread a day to be a lot of threads.

I suspect however, that my threads are noticeable and interesting. They get a lot of responses and stay visible due to that.

There's no challenge even if you're level 29 in Talos on one. The sheer number of Incarnates and Lore Pets makes it a pretty pointless exercise. I just moved to Talos 2 and ran Radio missions instead.

For a genius with intricate plans-within-plans why does this one sound like something Zapp Brannigan came up with? ("I'll send wave after wave to a pointless death so that eventually the heroes will get bored and give up"). One would hope the real Nemesis is off doing something cunning and sneaky while his men and bots do their pointless Zerg.

This explains last night (my time). I finished levelling a few levels in AP and the sky was yellow so I thought there was some 8th anniversary thing. I looked up and saw a helicopter flying overhead, I took off but couldn't catch it and broadcast "Helicopter?". Then I flew around a bit and noticed all the buildings were blue so I asked "Are these colours normal?". Noone said anything, the buggers.

There are always Helicopters in Atlas, and in my time yesterday I didn't notice yellow skies. o.O

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

One or more Mole Machines, even non-targetable, spawning in the zone during the event would be nice. One or more brass airships, even non-targetable, following the path that the Rikti dropships take would be nice. A special Tip mission, active the week before the event goes live, incorporating some of the lore that went up on the web page, would be really nice.

But you know what? I'm just okay with this. It's a nice change of pace. Heck, I think they should do something like this at random, every month or two: pick one of the main factions and have them mass-assault the zones like this. Circle of Thorns. Council. 5th Column. Freakshow. Sky Raiders. Banished Pantheon. Primal Devouring Earth. Soldiers of Rularuu. Heck, heat up the cold war between the rest of the US and the Rogue Isles, set up an event where Arachnos troops spawn like this in the hero zones and Longbow spawn like this in the Rogue Isles. Maybe not for a whole month, maybe just for a week to ten days, but otherwise, nice, easy to make, easy to understand zone events like this.

It's a nice change of pace, it's something different, it's a change of scenery. It's a fun, social way for people to get the defeat-n-hundred-bosses badges. Get one of your lowbies on a good league with higher-level badgers and it's remarkably good XP, too. So, yes, I'd like some more, please.

Here comes the doom:

One team (not all 50) doesnt seems enough to let the N-Lord spawn. Sadly after 4 hours of waiting on the restart of the event, quickly building a team, it was annoying.

Barely 5 minutes and thats it? Yawn...

I was at least hoping for the steam horses, mole machines or a new model of Nemesis himself (hes supposed to always be improving his armour), but no...

And I dont see how the mole machines are very different. During Rikti attacks we have the bombs sitting around. Surely its just a case of changing the model from the bomb to the mole machine.

Looks like it was slapped together by the work experiance kid.

Then again, if this is just the first wave, and Nemi will up the anti as the month goes on, then I will happily retract what i've just said and hang my head in shame for ever doubting the devs.

In defense of the devs, I will say that this was probably something only planned a few weeks in advance for the anniversary when they realized they couldn't have the regular anniversary invasion so soon after the pummit and issue 23 coming so soon.
Plus, unlike Rikti invasions or halloween invasions, this is likely to be a one-time thing like the Rularuu invasion and never really occur again.

I did just come out between AE missions and get the Nemesis Plot badge because I was in the zone when the event ended. So that was handy

I managed to get the badge on seven characters last night. I experienced one invasion where the GM apparently went somewhere other than the main mosh pit - he announced himself and no one ever saw him.

I have to say, the GM Nemesis is wicked brutal if he gets too much Vengeance. At one point he showed up and wiped literally half the league present with the first blast from his staff, and that included a fair number of tricked out 50s. I kind of pity lowbies fighting this stuff unless they can find a team with lots of +toHit buffs.

Color me annoyed that, based on what I was seeing, Nemesis troops can benefit from Vengeance cast by defeated buddies before you can even see them, let alone target or attack them.

Overall, I enjoy the event. Nemesis are actually somewhat challenging foes to face in this format. It's not very novel in that it's "just" Nemesis stuff, but I think they work well for this.

I can't say I'm overly impressed either. It feels like a reskinned zombie invasion. I've got to admit, I was expecting more out of this event...

Do NOT quote me on this but I think you may get your wish eventually. I was doing a little exploration badging with my Vigilante Brute in St. Martial and came across a Mole Machine. I swooped down to check it out and it was clickable but I got a message stating Entrance was not available. Someone quoted Zwilliger stating that the raids were just the opening for the event.. If we keep finding Mole machine that weren't there before .. I think we can assume that some story line has to be attached to them
