Hey Gang

I happened to come across this post by Mark Millar this morning which I found kind of interesting. Not only did he mention that he wanted Robin for the Batman reboot, but also check out who he wants for The Dark Knight, and Gordon.

Mark Millar posted this to fans on facebook

-I'd def put Robin in Batman reboot. Fassbender as Batman, Cranston as Gordon and Patrick MacNee or George Cole as Alfred...

... Actually, the more I think about it, Patrick MacNee MUST be Alfred in any Batman reboot. Also, ditch the leathers and daft voice. Get Batman mobile-
For those that don't know.. Michael Fassbender played Magneto in X-Men First Class.

Also removing the Leather and daft voice??

I wouldn't mind a costume that looked like this..

Yes, because leather is clearly more silly-looking than spandex.

Wait, there is a Batman Reboot in the works? ...really? What is with this sudden trend of rebooting series that don't really need it...

The current series of Batman movies is ending with Dark Knight Rises. And Batman is a franchise that pretty much has to have both a series of movies and a cartoon series of some sort out at all times. I think it's a law somewhere.

Who's Mark Millar, and why do we care what he want?

Yeah, I had to check he was still alive...

I really should do something about this signature.

As mentioned in the other thread, it's really DC's only successful franchise.

And they would need a reboot if they wanted to do a big superteam movie with Batman, since the Nolan series is set in a low-superpower universe.

Major comic book writer; Sin City, Wanted, Kickass, lots of DC stuff he's kind of a big deal

Alright. I was wondering because it sounded like he had some kind of authority over Batman, but googling him I found no direct link. So, just wondering. Cheers.

I think I'd rather see a Batman Beyond movie next, rather than a reboot of Batman.

Mark Millar had nothing to do with Sin City. I don't know that I'd call him a really big deal either. He writes a lot of stuff that's meant to go directly to film, so good for him. Most of his writing makes me think he's trying to channel Warren Ellis and Garth Ennis, but not quite measuring up.

The idea behind the Batman reboot is to fit into a JLA movie which WB execs feel that the current Batman movies in realism (Nolans) don't fit the JLA theme.

With the new Superman reboot, new Batman reboot, and the GL movie last year, they are using this the way Marvel used their line up for Avengers.

Last I heard they are moving foward with Flash.. but WonderWoman movie was put on hold (again).

If they include robin, make it Tim Drake and explain Dick Grayson as nightwing and the death of Jason Todd in flashbacks or something. You don't have to do a complete origin story again of Batman.

That's not spandex. It's armor. Hence the rivets. Its a model of the armor from the Arkham series of games.

Something witty and profound

It doesn't matter what kind of shirt/pants he's wearing.

He is dressed like a bat. Realism went out the window 73 years ago.

Anyway, what I'd love to see is the setting of Batman Beyond brought to live action. Probably couldn't happen at least until another reboot since otherwise audiences might think it's a continuation of the Nolan films and be confused.

This idea I like.

Although the Jason Todd flashback would pretty much require a Joker story, and well, which actor would accept that gig now?!

Another reboot? Yay, we get to see a superhero's origin story *again*. Sigh...

I say get Adam West back and do a musical version of Frank Miller's Batman Returns.

I say we get Adam West back and cast him as Old Bruce Wayne in a Batman Beyond movie set in present times with Bruce's heyday as the 1960s. The entire movie would be played totally straight but retain its campy history (Bruce becomes disillusioned as the 60s fade into the 70s, Joker goes from being goofy prop comic to actual psychotic killer).

They should make it a comedy. And possibly a musical.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.
