CoH Tips Tricks and Secrets

There's also the Crafter's Cafe as another option for AE crafting.

Same map, but has NPC's and other shiny things in it for flavour.

On the subject of tips, a minor one that not many people seem to know about is regarding dropping Enhancements into the Market interface. If you've got a load of enhancements (not salvage or recipes) you want to drop on the market, then open up the market interface (using /ah if you've got it, a Went/BM representative if you don't) and simply Left click the enhancements in your tray.

They go straight to the market interface in the 'Stored' section and you don't risk accidentally dropping a potentially high selling enhancement on someone stood next to you.

Minute and a half for 'go to AE and load a craft map instead of running to Steel Canyon' was a bit much, but it's a good tip. I have been going to Steel Canyon lol...

Don't know how many people know of this one. I was informed of quite recently is a way to hide all the powers from different armors like fire/ice etc. Even hides spines animations and the horrible glowing hands from hasten and feet from superspeed.

/macro FXoff "SuppressCloseFx 1$$SuppressCloseFxDist 255"

Creates a button to hide all the fx

/macro FXon "SuppressCloseFx 0"

To return the fx to normal.

For the people like me who prefer aesthetics now you can play fire/ice and get non shiny hasten hands!

If you're talking about gameplay tips, it might be that there just aren't that many to share, and those that exist have little effect (I'm not convinced jousting PBAoEs actually does anything for a blaster compared to, you know, a proper defense build). This game is very easy, with simplistic mechanics and gameplay.

Yes, the video was supposed to be fun as well as educational, or else it would have been 10 seconds of a black-on-white text screen. And even at a minute and a half, the speech bubbles still changed too fast for me to read them, so I had to rewind the video and pause it in a few places. This is why I don't like speech bubble spam in newer content.

Which PBAoEs are you talking about? Proper ones or cone ones? And I'm not sure what using such attacks have to do with survival.

PBAoEs are, unfortunately, often lengthy animations that require you to place yourself within melee range of multiple opponents for extended periods of time. This can get you chain held or outright killed. Being able to execute most of the animation while away from enemies helps mitigate this.

Or you can be cool like me and exploit that bug no-one ever wants to hear about, where if you're out of combat mode, use Build Up and start moving, you can keep using most of your melee and PBAoE attacks without being rooted, so long as they don't have unique activation sequences. This means pretty much all of Electric Manipulation, Mental Manipulation, Electric Blast and probably a few others.

Yeah, I'm tired of reporting this bug and having nothing be done about it, so I'll see about making it popular instead.

This line of thought makes no sense without the hyperbole you two have put on it.
If it had been 3-10sec long, I would have said it was too short.

Even at a whopping 83 seconds, it's already saved me time Went to AE to buy the salvage I needed for two Steadfast KB protection IOs (plus the rest from /auctionhouse), then dropped down a floor and crafted them. The travel time simply to the closest train station would have been nearly as much as the length of the video (to say nothing of train -> university!).

So how long would have been satisfactory for 'go to AE and load a craft map instead of running to Steel Canyon'?

If I may interject here...

Speech bubbles work well when you design them correctly and manage every tiny bit of what they say and how they work.

For this game they work to reinforce the comic book stereotypes, and give the players a more immersive comic book feeling.

You'll notice if you open up a comic book, the speech bubbles are almost never as static as they are in this game though. The artists play around with them a LOT.

That being said, it might not be worth the effort to be quite so anal about such trivial aspects of the movie. it works rather well as a more humble approach to delivering its content.

had that been the tip, I would have loaded the map and not known what to do.

Showing that you go in the map and find the crafting table was very useful.

Taking the time to provide detailed information and making few assumptions is a very good way to make sure your intended audience understands the information you are providing.

This tip warrants EXACTLY 59.8372 seconds, including any intro/outro and credits. If the devs are willing to implement embedding youtube videos I could go as high as 60.3941 to account for the savings in page load time on a fast connection and good PC. Give or take .0001 for wind direction of course.

SmegHead, I apologize for derailing your thread. I had forgotten that this was the interwebs and no level of reasonability exists here. By saying it was a little long in this setting I obviously implied that your video was an hour too long and should have been 3sec at most.

But it did seem to drag a bit...
*ducks*

I was disappointed that there was no Linkin Park, Evanescence, or Drowning Pool music in this YouTube video.

In all seriousness, I enjoyed the vid and was not aware of this tip. Thank you.

I'm quite happy to use the /AH command whilst I'm in the university in Steel.

Couldn't you, uh, go to Rikti War Zone to craft instead? Since Issue 10? I have no idea why people kept running across Steel Canyon. It was bad enough trying to tell them there was a tailor in Rikti War Zone too.

*clicks power, magically sees invention table summoned in front of eyes*

*clicks power, waits for Base list to load, chooses base, goes to crafting room, crafts with glee*

Yes, but you couldn't enter below level 35 until much later. And it's still further than AE.

Of course, unless you had another reason to be in Atlas, you could just go to the Wentworth's in Steel instead, and be just across the street from the university. Using /auctionhouse in the university beats any of those (and using /auctionhouse with Field Crafter is better still), but "be a long-term veteran of the game" is pretty lousy as tips and tricks go.

Code:

/bind shift+sysrq "screenshotui 1$$screenshot"
Turns the printscreen button into a UI-less screenie. Turns SHIFT + printscreen into a UI-full screenie. All without having to worry whether you turned your UI on or off.

(my favorite tip to share, I get a lot of comments on it every time screenies get discussed in global channels)
