If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.
I was talking to a source that's pretty in touch with the developments going on there, and it sounds like whatever they're working on won't be a sequel to CoH (at least, it's not going to be super hero themed). This shouldn't really be all that surprising, given the random hints the devs have occasionally dropped.

Also, while I have a lot of respect for Paragon, I have to take a wait-and-see approach to the idea of another MMO. This is still the only one I've played to date -- save for installing a F2P game and logging in once -- so I'm curious as to their ability to come up with a genre/setting to entice me into playing another. They've probably got a better chance than anyone else, unless someone gets the license for a game based on Wolfe's "New Sun" universe.
(I have no idea why that concept just came to mind, but now that it has, that would be pretty cool. A complete financial disaster, in all likelihood, but still very cool.)

It would be cool if the new MMO was based on the superhero genre.
I've always wondered if Paragon Studios was able to make one of those.

Sees posters angrily advocating that tankers have a harder time cutting the rope than their comic counterparts.
In the new game they will have one AT called Tankmage and everyone will be happy and blissful.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

When they start hiring people to work on two games at once, then you know for sure that 'next gen MMO' isn't just referring to CoH upgrades.

With Television and Second Measure no longer in the CoH circle and want ads referring to two games... now I'm a believer.

In the past, when people have said that PS is working on a new project or perhaps a CoH2, I debunked that rumor and, to date, I have been correct.
I will no longer debunk such claims because I am now sure that PS is working on 'something else.'
