well....yeah.....now that you mention it....more "theme-y" than set...

I totally agree...as I have said many times...Willpower...it's diet Regen...only 1 calorie...not quite regen enough.

Apparently I'm addicted to fire. It's a little funny, because I originally shunned the idea of a fire blaster or fire controller, maybe as backlash from perceiving them as FOTM sets. But now I have a fire^3 dom, fire^3 scrapper, and fire/time corruptor in my small stable of active characters. Maybe I should just get it over with and roll a fire blaster and fire controller too. Then my journey to the dark side will be complete.

Haha, I know that feeling, mainly in the case of corruptors. When I first started I always wanted to play the weapon sets, assault rifle, archery but then I tried fire...

Now all my corruptors are fire blast because everything else feels weak. It's a set with no redraw delay (important), awesome single target damage, awesome AoE and swift animations.

My name should answer this question nicely.

I have at least 3 Claws characters, but only one gets regular playtime (my main and namesake).
I also have a Claws/Fire Brute, a Claws/EA scrapper, and I think I have a Claws stalker floating around somewhere that I lost interest in for a while.

I have various Dark characters as well, either primary or secondary, across many ATs. My favorite of those is my BS/DA scrapper.

If you can use /auctionhouse, though, I'm gonna let you in on the secret that finally broke me of it for good: you can buy dozens, or even hundreds of t3 inspirations, at a price that amounts to peanuts, and have them waiting in your Bought tab whenever you log in or finish a mission. The question of "what if I need this later?" becomes totally meaningless if "later" is any time after "the end of this mission", because you can just refill by typing /ah.

I've also learned that surprisingly few teammates ever watch buff bars, or if they do, they just don't question how I maintain 2-4 stacks of Righteous Rage for most of the duration of a TF.

Peanut Butter

Then Willpower.

I can't bring myself to make a Tank or a Brute without using Willpower.

And Peanut Butter.

Maybe someone should start a support group for recovering hoarders. In addition to /ah, what has helped me partially kick the habit is inner inspiration. I find that if I try to keep at least four slots open by using what drops, inner inspiration keeps me full enough on robusts or phenoms, depending on the character, that I don't mind blowing through a whole tray of them to do something stupid like tank an ITF on a controller. Well, "I don't mind" is a little strong, it's more that I can force myself to choke back the tears long enough to click on my pretty, pretty tier 3s.

My new problem is super inspirations: sometimes I buy them just because what else am I going to spend money on anymore. I have never actually used any of my ultimates. They just sit there being way too good to ever click.

I have been afraid to ever purchase Super Inspirations or select them from reward tables, for exactly that reason.

Well, that's not quite true, I sometimes buy a couple Sight Beyond Sight when I know I'll be facing heavy buffs/debuffs (the ambush in the last mission of Posi 1 comes to mind). But those are so cheap, and large tohit buffs so rarely useful, that they don't trigger the Too Awesome To Use instinct. At least, not for me. But come on, an Ultimate? That would feel like eating a hundred-dollar bill.

Same here. There are so many I have not gotten around to trying that I feel bad about wanting to retreat to a powerset I have used before. Even so, I did reuse Dark Melee for the first time two weeks ago and am quite pleased I did so as it works wonderfully with what I paired it with.

No, actually.

I have made it a goal of mine to use each set only once on my account... which makes creating new characters kinda rough. Let's just say, that I really need a new Armor set to come out soon. :/

I hope not all new defense sets are some gimmicky set. There's still some simple straight forward, universal concept sets that can be made! Even if they're created with a concept in mind (like Time Manip which can fit so many other concepts)

For me it hasn't been a particular set. Instead, if has always been the CoH incarnation of my favorite comic book heroes. For me, I can't do things wacky. The sets have to "make sense" together...and comic book heroes tend to do that. Some iconic ones:

1) Superman - SS/Invuln
2) Incredible Hulk - SS/WP
3) Captain America - SJ/SD
4) Storm - Storm/Elec
5) Iron Man - Energy/Energy

Etc... I'm currently playing the Captain America character (Javelin on Freedom), and he's rapidly approaching "favorite character ever" status. That combo is just stupidly good on a Scrapper, and let's face it, Cap is much more Scrapper than he is Brute or Tank. He's the first character in 2-3 years that, after logging off because I'm tired, I log back in because I want to throw more Sweeping Crosses and Rib Crackers around.

Now if only we could throw the shield....

I'm not addicted to any set really but I have more ma/ and /ma characters than anything else my first one was ma/regen back in I0 and I will probably nvr roll a regen again this toon is retired at 50 and not gonna bother with incarnates. I have a retired MA/SR scrapper and MA/Nin. My most recent is shield/ma, my second most recent is fire/ma both are below 30 and active

I was addicted to MA as a primary for sometime, then I decided to venture out and try different primaries, so I don't have a favorite melee primary anymore.

Now I can't seem to find any other defense set other than Invul for Tanks and Scrappers, it just seems to be a great all around set, great resists, great defense, great debuffs resists, and a heal that takes you to the HP cap. I haven't found a reason to take Unstoppable yet. It's just so solid, I tend to like it better than WP, I mean WP is nice, but the only exotic damage it can take is Psi, when it comes to F/C/E/N doesn't have much but defense, on top of that WP has 0 def debuff resists which I found is huge in later levels. WP is a nice set with a lot to offer, I originally found it to be my favorite, but after playing Invul through to the end, I found WP to have a few more holes in it's game.

As far as elemental Types I am a fan of Fire and Ice. I like them both evenly, however, I tend to edge more for fire because it is cosmetically better to me.

Fire blasters, fire tanks, fire brutes.

Although, I still have much love for my ice blaster, the AoE goodness of fire is unsurpassed. I have an SS/FA brute, but my fire/fire brute is superior in every way. Probably my play style, but fire FTW!

*/Kin Controllers, apparently. Two of my pathetic stable of five 50s are */Kin Controllers, and I mained an Elec/Kin Controller through the Going Rogue beta.

Favorite power set of all time is Street Justice, but I only have one dude using it on my home server, with a couple more untouched StJ characters on Exalted.
