OMG! Not Again!!!

As I was leaving work this morning I thought of an awesome name for my Earth/Storm troller that I was planning on hitting 50 on this weekeend. I thought 'should I write it down? NAH! I'll remember it, it's so awesome'...

I forgot it.

Multiple times a day.

Nope. I never come up with good name ideas, so I am blessedly saved from this. However, I stole Flamezy from someone I saw running around with it in Fort Darwin years ago, and use stuff like that. Got anything that cheesy you want to let me run for a few years?

I have a freakish memory, so I can honestly say that this particular occurrence has never happened to me before. I HAVE, however, gotten home only to find out that the awesome name that I thought of is already taken.

I have also forgotten costume ideas in this fashion.

Happens to me a lot. Sometimes I remember to write my ideas down, sometimes I forget to.

Never happened to me, but then, I've never had to hold a name in my head for more than an hour or two, so I generally don't lose the excitement over it being awesome before I get to the game again.

I've got a huge list of names written down on a paper that I add to and check once in a while, but I've had cases where I find something I like and forget it at some point.

Had that happen a few times, not the planning on hitting 50 in a weekend part, but the name part.

More common for me though, is thinking up the perfect name/concept at work, thinking about it off and on all day, only to finally come home and stare at it blankly in the creation screen only to decide on something else entirely.

What sounds good in my head, usually doesn't look so good in print or said aloud 8/10 times.

As as aside: My Earth/Storm Controller is named The Amazing Mountain. He's a sentient golem. Quite pleased when I got that name on Virtue of all places, yet looking at it here in print...

If your cell phone has a Notes feature, I recommend saving them there wherever you are. This goes for any kind of writing idea, game related or not. Write it down.

Another option, if your phone can't store notes, is to send a text message to yourself.

I was out one day, and i thought of a great name for a new toon.
The whole day i was thinking concept, costume and even a few back up names cause, we all know, good names go fast.

When i came home.. great name taken... all, and i mean ALL 5 back up names.. taken.

I thought screw it, logged in with my main, go check new people in Atlas to make myself feel better, and what do i see? 'My' great name on a low level toon from a new player. >.<

Needles to say i logged out for an hour :P
