Sorry if i missed it, but wich powersets can use the sword?
edi: Found it on beta forum - only DB/BS. Lame.
It would be extremely difficult to have the store recognize a per character purchase versus a per account purchase pricing strategy for a singular costume piece.
Taken another way, if you bought the singular costume piece for a single character only, but then later decided you wanted it available account-wide, should you/would you get a discount because you previously purchased it for your single character? The thought of that proposition gives me a headache, and I imagine would give customer service, our community team and a whole bunch of other people a migraine to explain to customers. To put it diplomatically, a per-character-costume-unlock via a Paragon Market purchase is not on any plan or schedule. If it did come up in any meeting, I would silently deep-six it underneath other desired features, items or services. |

Yeah, but that opens a whole can of worms. For example, what about buying costume sets, or even individual costume pieces for single characters? Not ALL of my characters are going to use Imperial Dynasty set, so why can't I spend 40 points and unlockit for just one character? Or why can't I buy Piece X that normally costs 40 points for 4 points for that one character who could really use it?

Changes to a set based on our feedback can't always be completed in time for the release date of the set.

Not to mention I recall these being meant for Chinese New Year which was nearly two months ago.

A patch came out today fixing some of the pieces of the already-released Pocket D Valentines Club pack. Post release fixes are common in CoH and indeed, all MMOs. Paragon Studios has the decency to acknowledge problems, get feedback, make adjustments, announce plans and timing of fixes, and follow through... something you don't find in too many other MMOs.
|
Freedom/Marketing may put some quick deadlines into place, but the studio has totally picked it up and gone back to make sure they are fixing and improving things.
There was a brief bit where I was concerned about this, but they have removed that concern from me.

If it really is not showing in there, it may be a bug.
EDIT:
That info seems to be outdated. I saw the sword as an option for Katana and Ninja Blade, too.

I've purchased three extra costume slots on the market previously (and all at full price), so every one of my characters starts out with four. Even though I don't always use all four right away, I still feel the price is pretty reasonable, since, for me and my forty characters anyway, they break down to a quarter apiece. That's pretty good, I think. I'll likely never buy slots #9 and #10 personally, because I'll likely never feel like I need more than eight slots at level 50, but if I ever decide to, I'll happily fork over 800 points to do it. If I happen to catch a sale and they're only 600 at the time, hey, even better.
Regarding the Imperial Dynasty set being unfinished... eh. If it hadn't been released, there would be people complaining about how there was nothing new on the market this week, or Paragon would have had to push something else out the door before they were ready to. We got some new stuff, and we'll be getting more to go with it soon, so I'll take that. Enough to play with now, and a few more to round it all out later. Sure, I'd have preferred to get it all at once, but if this is the best they can do, it's good enough for me, especially since we have a semi-firm date for when we'll see the rest. The devs provide something new for us every single week nowadays, people -- sometimes there are going to be hiccups. Cut them a little slack. They've already got a fix worked out.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

For the record, I wasn't actually asking for such a thing, but rather trying to provide an example of why it was possibly a bad idea.

Bought the Imperial Dynasty costume bundle last night. At least one of the items remained locked out after purchase. I'm hoping it was just one of those synch errors Z talked about, because I know if I have to deal with customer service, it doesn't matter what the issue is, they'll insist it has something to do with my video drivers rather than considering it might be a problem on their end
Otherwise, cool looking pieces, but it does seem like an unfinished set... some body areas get a LOT of options in the set, while some seem to come up short. Hopefully those parts are what's coming Soon (TM).
Dear NCsoft, if you go through with this shutdown you've guaranteed you'll not see another dime from me on any project you put out, ever.

For the record I wasn't blaming anyone. Was just merely making a point that in the process of rushing to release things week after week, some things get missed.
Not at home yet....
...so, is there a new face for the males as well?
The additional Imperial Dynasty pieces are coming with Issue 22 (the first update after the launch to be specific). Unfortunately there wasn't time to work them into a build prior to the release of the Pack.

Thanks for taking the time to confirmed this, Z.

I bought it about an hour after it went live, and it was missing the boots and the pants in the costume editor. Also, imperial gloves 3 was locked and not purchasable. It also looked awful. Since the patch, it seems the boots and pants automagically reappeared, and imperial gloves 3 vanished.
I wanted the helmet NAO and I got my wish. I'm looking forward to the I22 launch options added to the set. Perhaps I'll be able to get a great costume for a new Dark Control character that I'll make with the items.
PS. Please have a dragon helmet without the silly ponytail. Bald can be beautiful.

Costume slots still apply to every character on your entire account. You're not just buying "one" slot - you're potentially buying access to dozens of them.
This is why I've never had any problem with their cost. I bought 5 extra slots six-ish months ago and have gotten many, many hours of fun from them. To me they were well worth the price. *shrugs* |
The Resistance has boobs too, and better hair!
I always took the "ponytail" as an adornment on the helmet (like a horse's tail or the like).

I'm glad for the option of examining the packages through the character creator before I buy, so thanks. Granted, it'll probably mean I buy *less*, but I'll be happier with what I get.
All that said...I'm not buying this package, at least, not as it stands.
Keep in mind, I play no male characters, so I didn't look at any of the male costume parts.
There's one thing which would absolutely have made me bought this package, and that would be the inclusion of a skin top and bottom. The silver pattern is lovely, but I don't like the baggy look. A cutout where that funky diamond is on the chest would have improved the looks immensely, and something more form-fitting would actually look like *armor*.
Although I don't ever do helmets, these were attractive, but too large for female characters, or at least mine.
Also? Not buying any of the belts or the hip guards. Though the pattern is very pretty, and I'm sure it works for male characters, it makes the female character's butt look like one of those trucks with the wide wheel wells. A trimmer belt with more elaboration would be much prettier and not look so horribly bulky. Not even saying eliminate what you've got, because I'm sure there's someone out there who doesn't have the objection to it that I do, but having an additional option that's more streamlined, yet still had the elaborate silver look, would be terrific.
Finally -- and I have no idea where to make this suggestion -- is there any chance that we could have a package that reworked some of the tops/bottoms with skin options and added textures to them, as was done with Angelic Plus and Excess Plus, for example? Most of what we're getting in the female costume packages anymore are dress clothes or semi-armor that's not very feminine or attractive on female characters. When it comes to something my female characters would actually wear out to fight, I'm still stuck with stuff that was introduced years ago.
If you guys texturized some of the skin options, I would be on it in a heartbeat. That would look superhero-ey, and still be attractive.
Thanks much!

I've just got the Imperial Dynasty promotion email alerting me to / reminding me of the pack's release, and the graphic on the bottom is also 20% off of Paragon Points bundles.
So I go to the Paragon Store ready to buy, only to find that there is no such promotion currently active. Whats going on?.

It does say 25% off of the other item it's showing (costume slots) but that's even in a separate block of the email.

I'd like to say thank you for not making this set time limited. The costume set also looks amazing. Unfortunately, it's way too elaborate to be my style. However, I bought it anyway, as if I'm going to not buy things that I want which are time-limited on principle, I suppose I should go the other way and buy some that I'm not interested in, that aren't time-limited.
I'm glad to see the costume slots on sale, too. My fiancee bought two of them last night. (I personally only have one character with more than 5 costume ideas, so I have little reason to do so)

Oooohh....if we are going to be getting an option for NON-pretinted costume bits for this set, that moves it from a "meh" to a "gotta have it" for me. I know what I'll be buying when I get home from work tonight!
