Presumably a case of caveat emptor. Personally, the characters who I would love enough to buy a separate slot for individually, though, are not likely to come up on my to-be-deleted list.

Yep that's part of the problem with this idea. Once they'd let you spend PP on individual slots then you'd have to face the possiblity of losing those slots once you delete those characters.

Again I can understand that the current method of buying slots is relatively expensive. But once you've bought them you never have to worry about "losing" those slots ever again. It's effectively a permanent investment for as long as you play the game.

How will you handle 'adding' the 'missing' Imperial Dynasty pieces for those of us who bought the pack immediately? Do we already have the 'missing' pieces but they aren't selectable? I'm just concerned we'll have to pay for what is missing since we bought it early, since I'm unsure how you plan to 'give' those pieces to people who bought the set, unless you can identify who owns it.

TL;DR - If I have to pay extra to own everything that your front page advertised comes with the set because I wanted to support it ASAP and didn't wait for i22, I'll punch a catgirl with a baseball bat.

For those of us who brought the set already, we will get these pieces free?

I think it would be practically impossible/unthinkable for them to put us in a situation where next week (because I22 is going live on March 6th ) they'll charge us extra money for these items. There have already been several cases where updates to costume items like these have been made seamlessly without any additional costs.

Like any update, we'll get those when published, automagically. If you buy the set after, you get them all at once, if you buy the set now, you get them as soon as they're published. Same with the updates to the Magic, Steampunk, etc. sets they're doing - which has already been stated, publicly, that this is how it will work.

Buying slots for single characters is an interesting idea, though.
Yeah, but that opens a whole can of worms. For example, what about buying costume sets, or even individual costume pieces for single characters? Not ALL of my characters are going to use Imperial Dynasty set, so why can't I spend 40 points and unlockit for just one character? Or why can't I buy Piece X that normally costs 40 points for 4 points for that one character who could really use it?

This is why I've never had any problem with their cost. I bought 5 extra slots six-ish months ago and have gotten many, many hours of fun from them. To me they were well worth the price. *shrugs*
The thing is that I've got 1 character, maybe 2, were I have the 5 current slots filled with non-filler costumes AND have a potential use for any more than that.
I'd buy a couple on that character (again, maybe 2 chars) for 50-60 a piece. Globally unlocked slots are near useless for me. So I'm not going to pay 600 or 800 points (or 400 or 200) for just those few costume slots I'd actually use.

That's why I've found the global unlocking storage'n stuff always a bit odd. Going by my in game environment, there are a lot more people like me than there are who actually fill out all their costume slots on the majority of their characters and would get a lot of use out of even more costumes after that.

I think they would've made more money of offering them per piece per character for a small sum than doing it like this.

I can empathize with that price. I'm just saying, for me and at least one other person I know, that cost is too expensive to warrant purchase. It is a global costume slot, but a costume slot nonetheless.

Don't mean to take the opposite side on this just to argue, but I suspect enough people have bought the costume slots that have been offered at the current prices to more than make up for those people who would only want to spend a few points for a few individual slots.

It's a simple matter of what sells - if the current scheme had been a total flop they would have gotten rid of it and gone to your individual slot idea months ago. And all the people who didn't want to pay the full price but would be willing to pay the discount price being offered today will do so. Ultimately why should a company sell something for x as long as plenty of people are still willingly paying 4x or 5x for it?

Perhaps in another year or two when no one's left willing to pay 600 or 800 for these slots they'll finally lower the price to something like 50 or 100. But don't think that's going to be happening any time super soon. *shrugs*

Yes. Automagically.

We won't be charging more for the fixes. We debated holding back the release of the Imperial Dynasty set, but then that would have a cascading effect on subsequent Paragon Market releases (and as a player myself, I wanted them NAO! ).

Not to mention I recall these being meant for Chinese New Year which was nearly two months ago.

Yeah I imagine it would have been relatively more risky to launch I22 and a new costume set both on March 6th.

It would be extremely difficult to have the store recognize a per character purchase versus a per account purchase pricing strategy for a singular costume piece.

Taken another way, if you bought the singular costume piece for a single character only, but then later decided you wanted it available account-wide, should you/would you get a discount because you previously purchased it for your single character?

The thought of that proposition gives me a headache, and I imagine would give customer service, our community team and a whole bunch of other people a migraine to explain to customers.

To put it diplomatically, a per-character-costume-unlock via a Paragon Market purchase is not on any plan or schedule. If it did come up in any meeting, I would silently deep-six it underneath other desired features, items or services.

If it's not finished, don't release it. No offense. I;d rather see a high quality finished project then a rushed unfinished one.

That said the pieces look pretty nice. Looks like something I might pick up down the road.

Costume slot is still expensive but that's excusable since it's account wide.

As a player I could be sad to hear that I won't be able to save a few points here or there like that.
But as a software engineer with nearly 20 years of professional experience I can absolutely understand your position on this matter.
Carry on.

I agree this would be the most ideal course of action. But since we are likely talking only a matter of a week or two at most I can see why the Devs would be willing to let this work itself out like this. The pieces are actually finished - we are just waiting for the launch of an Issue to get access to them.

This could have been nice, but you ruined it with all the pretinting, especially when you pretinted pieces made from other pieces that were not tinted! Was such a great Idea for a set, too bad you guys never listen to us, even when you do. No One Likes PreTinted Items!
Oh well, maybe another time, even the pieces on beta are not what I would call ready.
and since you guys failed to listen to us, while claiming to be, no, I do not want this "nao", or any other time. (and as such a huge fan of Asian styles as I am, that's sad) I don't want it until you take out the gold garbage. Gold Coloring makes things tacky.

They couldn't wait a week or two to release the finished product? Honestly it's all about trying to get something new out on the market week after week. When they're rushed to get things out, stuff gets overlooked. Case in point: They still need to fix the toes on the females dressed in the new strapped heels they released for the Valentine's Day Civilian set.

This is not something to blame the devs for though... it's probably marketing that pushes for release.

The pieces ARE finished. We are just having to wait for Issue 22 to launch because the fixes are in that build. They have also already addressed the "toe" problem as quickly as they could as well.

Take a minute to look at the facts about these things before you start "blaming" anyone.

A patch came out today fixing some of the pieces of the already-released Pocket D Valentines Club pack. Post release fixes are common in CoH and indeed, all MMOs. Paragon Studios has the decency to acknowledge problems, get feedback, make adjustments, announce plans and timing of fixes, and follow through... something you don't find in too many other MMOs.

If you followed the beta of this particular costume set, you know that some non pretinted options are coming. These are included in the pieces which will be automagically granted to you in the first update following the launch of I22.

Don't forget, we always put new releases up on beta for feedback and testing prior to releasing it in the Paragon Market. Please be sure to check these out if you're interested in what's coming up!
