Yes Green Arrow is getting a pilot.

The CW has officially given the pilot order for the new "Green Arrow" television series, Deadline reports, though the emerald archer is losing his "green." The show will go with the title "Arrow."
Hadn't heard about this before but will be interesting to see the take on him.

"Arrow" joins two other pilot orders, "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Carrie Diaries,"
OK why do we need a remake of "Beauty and the Beast"? Sorry but I liked Ron Perlman as Vincent.

Quote:
Rumored last September, "Beauty and the Beast" will loosely adapt the television series that ran for three seasons beginning in 1987. It was created by Ron Koslow as a re-imagining of the fairy tale. Ron Perlman starred as Vincent, a beast-man who lived beneath the streets of New York City with an underground homeless community. There, he developed a psychic bond with with Catherine (Linda Hamilton), a District Attorney in the city.
just my two cents...

That sounds horrid lol and I like Ron Perlman glad that show was before my time.

While dated by today standards the 80's Beauty and the Beast was a very popular show, if short lived. The makeup Ron wore was incredible, as was his take on the beast. Even after al this time I have to watchit when I catch it on. Sure some of the storielines are cheesey.. but Ron perlman was pure gold on that series.

Just look at that, that's an incredible makeup job by today's standards.. let alone a low budget 80's drama series.

Why bother basing a series on Green Arrow if you're just going to title it "Arrow"? You might as well call it "Generic Archer-Guy." At least with "Smallville" the title was related to both the source material and the concept of the show.

Bah. We'll see how it looks once things get rolling.

I have vague memories of the old Beauty and the Beast, and yes, Pearlman's make-up did indeed look fantastic. If we're lucky it'll be good enough to wash the taste of Twilight out of audiences' collective mouths.

I'm just wondering if this show is going to be as savaged by the rabid comic book fans as Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot was last year. Already sounds like they are going to try to "re-imagine" this version of Green Arrow as much as they did Wonder Woman.

Yeah I was going to point out that the Beauty and the Beast show with Ron Perlman was to its time in the late 80s what the Twilight franchise is today. It was a sappy, romantic show geared towards the "tweener" audience with the same idea of a woman getting involved with a "supernatural" guy. But of course unlike Twilight it had Ron Perlman and was about a million times more bearable to watch.

Nope. Justin Harley (Green Arrow on Smallville) is not attached.
Quote:
Hartley is not involved in the new project, however. Here’s who is on board developing the show: Executive producers/writers are Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters) and Marc Guggenheim (FlashForward), who also both worked on last year’s Green Lantern film, along with Andrew Kreisberg (Vampire Diaries, Fringe — plus he’s worked on the Green Arrow comic book). Berlanti Productions is producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Should be about as bad as Smallville from seasons 5-10.

So wait.. this isn't going to be a spinoff of the Smallville Universe? What's the hell is the point of even having it on the same network that Green Arrow was on for years if you aren't going to use the Established live action cannon?

Putting it in the Smallville Universe allows them to milk the already established fanbase and talentpool they amassed for ten years instead of starting fresh.

Internet nerd rage will kill any hope of Arrow being picked up. This is why we can't have nice things.

And Ron Perlman could still play the beast, but we all know he's going to be played by a 20-something with rock hard abs instead. "Look how ugly I am with my Greek-god-like physique!"

Because Warner Brothers owns both DC Comics and The CW.

That kinda bums me out. I was never really a fan of Green Arrow but I really liked Justin Harley and what he did with the Green Arrow character on Smallville which in turned made me a fan of Green Arrow. I'll still give the show a shot cause I do for most things super hero related.

I just wanted it in the Smallville Universe so I could have more Chloe, and maybe actually See Clark in Costume after ten years of buildup.

It's not going to work for the intended audience if the actors are well past a believable teenager age.

For me I don't see going without "teen" actors as problem as I doubt teens now are going to care about a Superhero with a bow and arrow. When was the last time you heard someone in their teens talking about how cool that weapon is?

Age range of the actors isn't a problem either IF it was put in the same universe as Smallville. As I am aware they were allowed to age one year every season or so which means right now most of the main cast went from being in their mid teens/early twenties to well.. mid twenties early thirties. I think they even round about pointed out Clark was 28 in the final season.

Then you have to consider that not every "teen" show NEEDS teenagers in the roles. Look at Supernatural. That show started with all of the main cast in either their mid twenties to their 40's and 50's ( In universe, not only actual age of the actors)and it's still going strong.

1) Wait for The Hunger Games, I believe the heroine uses a bow.

2) It's something anyone can get and use. No need for radioactive insects, super science, alien tech, etc.

3) Have you seen Top Shot on History? There's at least one bow event per season.

I see where you are coming from, but my comment still stands. When was the last time you saw or heard a teenager say how much they loved <insert bow themed hero here>?

Hell the only reason Green Arrow was on Smallville or tv for that matter in the first place was because they couldn't use Batman.

I know at least one 13 year old girl who took up archery because of Katnis of the Hunger Games. It's insanely popular.
