I think that it'd be a great way of honoring him, and of helping to draw newer players into the game lore.
I think that's a good idea.

I think a great character for the 'eye catching' NPC should be Maria Jenkins, visiting the memorial, and willing to tell you all about him through a series of dialogue trees.

I couldn't agree more.

Positron, I ask that you don't focus solely on Statesman's death when enacting those "changes" you're planning. Miss Liberty died too, and I think at the very least she deserves a statue as well.

I very much agree with this.

The next arc of the SSA will be out before the end of February (assuming they stay on schedule).

Then I had the idea of making it a countdown of sorts, hinting that someone from the "Surviving Eight" would perish before the end of the arc.

...

In addition, it allowed us to tell a better story, with a mysterious, yet familiar, villain finally pulling off the "impossible". We were able to establish how Darren Wade was able to pull off the feat over the course of several mini-story arcs spanning the first few months of the main arc.
So at no point, NO POINT WHATSOEVER, you took the notions of 'suspense', 'surprise' and 'tension' and thought "Hey, maybe we should keep this quiet until the episode is actually released on live?"

But no. No, you had to go and ruin it. Because, let's face it. This isn't about keeping the suspense up and telling the story well, this is all about finally kicking Statesman out and getting rid of Jack's remnants. So, glory be, out come the spoilers, without so much as a by your leave or may I.

I wanted to know who died. I didn't know. I was wondering, each arc, would this be the one where someone copped it? Who could it be?
And then glory [pancake] be, in the flipping announcements no less; HEY EVERYONE! STATESMAN DIES! ISN'T THAT COOL?!

No. No it is not cool. It is not cool when you RUIN the suspense of a story freaking EARLY! What the heck is wrong with whoever was responsible for this [pancake] idiocy?

Yes, I am angry. I consider myself a writer and, as such, consider this an inexcusable error that I had previously not thought Paragon capable of. Look who was wrong...

From what I gathered from this the killing of Statesman was the final step in getting out from under Jack's shadow, but I just think it's poor taste to remove every trace of him from in-game. I do hope you folks have considered adding a statue memorial of him somewhere in Paragon City. From a lore stand point, it doesn't make sense for every trace of Statesman to be removed and he be forgotten by the public, that just seems cold.

If you haven't already, consider these options.

1) Add a memorial statue of Statesman some place in Atlas Plaza, possibly the park area across from where new Heroes start in Atlas.

2) If the above isn't possible, please consider adding a memorial statue of Statesman as a decorative base item so that those of us who still wish to honor his memory can.

Please relax and stop being angry about expectations of mystery that you baked up in your own head that they failed to live up to.

...ok, keep being angry, and redirect it back to your own expectations.

I'm *assuming* you wouldn't make up this whole article to mislead us, because that would be kind of dumb.

And so Statesman dies in part 5, and there are two more parts that are still called "Who Will Die?" even though the question is already answered?

Look, I love what you guys have dome with Freedom and the store and all the new costumes and power sets, but at this point the only way I can enjoy the writing is if I make up a drinking game to go along with it.
It's the NAME of the ENTIRE arc, not just the individual parts of it.
This is like complaining that people still watch the ending of Back to the Future even after Marty makes it back to 1985. Why bother? he is already back in the future.

In "The Retrun of the King", Aragorn is crowned 4 chapters before the end - it's made me rage ever since I first read it.

Well, until i23 arrives and the "changing of the guard" is done, I'll just keep the following scenario in my head while playing:

Person A: I can't believe it! Statesman's gone... REALLY gone!
Person B: That can't be! He's Statesman! And I saw him on that LongBow ship in Indie Port, too!
Person C: Psh, you idiots, that's a hardlight hologram.
A: No no NO!! That HAS to be Statesman!
B: Are you sure?
C: Pretty sure. Rumor has it that [whisper-whisper-SPOILER-whisper] and he's after Sergei Ta'Null now.
B: Damn... So... Does that mean Sergei Ta'Null is stronger than Statesman? Is that possible?
Persons D and E: **inserts 'over 9000' joke convo here**

You get the gist. =P

Statesman should definitely get a statue erected somewhere public in Paragon, and perhaps even a series of History plaques.

My thoughts were in IP near the boat he's standing (currently) on, in Atlas Park (but there's a lot of statues already there), or in a 'reclaimed' section on Boomtown (if that zone ever gets a redesign similar to Faultline).

As far as the 'marketing' of Statesman, sure - why not. Although it might be a little weird for newer players to realize they'll never interact with such an icon (save for some select Ouroboros arcs). I think that other heroes & villains should begin to get more marketing attention though; but, don't get rid of Statesman cold turkey.

Thanks for the fun story. Can't wait to see how it continues.

Excellent work. I wish there was a way to incorporate that into the SSA. Very touching. Letting my SG know to watch your video in tandem with the SSA to really get into the story.

And it's not like he's the only one dying. There could be more characters who will die even if they're not members of the Phalanx.

Yeah I PMed Noble Savage, Tweeted Positron, asked Beastyle, and so far no bites. I really want a bigger pic of that - or even a wallpaper!

EDIT: apparently they might be bringing out a larger version soon. Stay tuned.

... What, they're gonna bury him under the Atlas Statue? That's a little morbid, isn't it?

Anyway, I'm a bit mixed on the latest installment. It was done VERY well, but I can't help but be a little miffed that States just... WALKED right into a trap and nothing else. No fight, no self-sacrifice (which is how I assumed it would go down), nothing. Just a LOT of suffering on his part and boom. Also, the villain arc has you playing anti-hero now, which I'm sure disappointed a LOT of people who wanted to be the ones to pull the trigger.

Though perhaps we're looking at this the wrong way. This isn't a story about Statesman dying... this is a story about WADE and his grab for power... Statesman dying just happens to be a PART of that plan.
