Speed Boost - best buff, or what?
Meta gives u +DMG, +Rec, +Recovery and some Status Protection. Now u?!
First, crowing about this sort of thing in public is the best way to start a nice handy nerfball rolling.
Second, I still have the Gull turn off SB and all group travel powers the instant I hit about.... level 20. Maybe sooner.... the instant I start being able to manage Endurance issues pretty well by myself.
No.
I was constantly canceling Speed Boost in an ITF the other day. The... well, the speed boost is one of the most obnoxious things in the game, and I'm thrilled at the opportunity to nuke it from orbit.
I should go talk to that seagull.

Null the Gull eliminates the speed modification, but the other buffs like recharge and what-not remain.
Speed Boost is nice without the speed boost, don't get me wrong. But unless I talk to the gull, the buffs aren't good enough to warrant suffering that insufferable boost of movement speed.
Reduced to being at the mercy of a useless bird...
Endurance and Recharge are nice and all, but Speed Boost is on the lower end once you near the 30-50 range.
Just to be picky, speed boost doesn't give you +End it gives you +recovery.

Nope, gonna have to go with Ageless. +End,+Recharge,+Recovery/+Debuffresist it's nearly perma and it's a PBAoE
All the benefits of Speed boost without touching movement
now granted it's an incarnate ability, but there were no exclusions made for this discussion
Painbringer.
I like Speed Boost for the added recharge too, but most of my characters have a mega-amount of recharge and don't need more.
Painbringer gives that character 500% more regeneration and 800% more recovery PLUS a 50% damage buff (this is base) - that is just awesome for most of my characters :3
Anyone offering Temp?
Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

And what's with the 'this or what' threads I don't even
OP: Speed Boost is definitely not the best buff, however it's still really good. Recharge is relative. Most well built builds have enough recharge to run their attack chain, perma powers that need to be perma and enough recovery to be sustainable. This is of course completely different at low levels. Low level SB is amazing, however at endgame it's effectiveness is mitigated by simply building your character properly. Unsupressed Movement is fabulous, but it's not something that would push a power to #1 buff.
Fulcrum Shift is the best buff in the game. Hands down. Nothing else can come close to giving a perma 300-400% dmg buff to 1-24 people. And while we're at it I'll throw in Sleet as the best Debuff in the game.
AB only helps one person, 2 if you cheat with burnout. Even in it's own set Fortitude is much better than AB because it can be applied to 5-6 people.

Anyway I still think highly of AB as the best ST buff for a single toon (except for extreme cases like top io builds). Sure some ATs/powersets benefit more from it, but I can't think of any other that made a SO'ed ss/wp brute 'solo' half the ITF while the rest of the team was working on the other mobs. Or my Do'ed spines/dark scrapper chain spine burst/lunge/spine burst and 'tank' (well as much as a non-taunt scrapper can tank) in mobs on a 30's team. But sure it depends, even considering a single toon only, some of mine would benefit more from fulcrum or fort than AB due to already having enough recharge, survivability and no end issues (was gonna put painbringer there but I checked, only 50% dmg bonus while defender fort is 31% plus def and tohit, kinda sucky since PB has the same 300 sec recharge as AB - I had to see in Mid's because I don't see people playing Pain anymore).
On debuffs I really like the rad ones, especially on teams that 'respect' the anchor (usually when they're a bit over their heads so the boss is hard to kill). I've had a team running on +4 wipe because I thought we were steamrolling and decided to nuke and blast on my rad/psi defender... Bad idea
Can't argue that Sleet is easier to use and better than the rad debuffs on iTrials and most ITFs since people obliterate the mobs so fast.
I always thought it bunk that orc shamans got that at a lower level than player druids >.>

(I played a barbarian shaman!)
Besides, Elan is a bard. >.>
Anyway the main point I was hinting at was that speed boost powers have been popular in games like this since there were games like this.
my lil RWZ Challenge vid
But that's why I said I like them when the team is facing really hard mobs, like a 6-8 man team facing +4s so that they end up keeping the anchor and the boss takes long to die. Of course that's not the case in speed or even normal +0/+1 TFs or even iTrials (a lot of players, debuffs flying all over, judgements and pets) so debuffs like Dark's or Cold's can be used more efficiently. I like the Anchor concept but these days with the newer sets people are AoEing a ton even on Posis (which I completed a lot of times in 40 minutes or less with unslotted toons on lvl 10-15 teams).
Sleet/Freezing Rain is awesome in basically every scenario, and better than Tar Patch imo because the -def is great on the lower levels and against some mobs in the higher ones, saving the teams' endurance since they hit more often.
But at least I still find Rad way better than lolPoison on teams
It's not so much the anchor death that bugs me so much as the incessant mez-detoggling I experience.

There are 4 general types of buffs:
1. preventing things from happening to you (def, res, mezz)
2. making stuff you do more powerful (fort, fulcrum shift)
3. giving you more END, which lets you do more stuff
4. recharging your stuff faster so you can do more stuff
preventing things is awesome but generally invisible. You don't notice that FF bubble saved your life 20 times. And if it is so powerful you really notice it makes the game kind of stupid - godmode gets boring.
making stuff you do more powerful is great if it makes it that much more powerful that you really notice, but then it also gets kind of stupid - godmode gets boring.
END is great if you have END issues. But you may not notice it.
Recharging stuff faster makes every character better at whatever they do. And since you still click powers you notice that you are doing more, even if you aren't really sure why.
Speed Boost give you recharge and END - best buff ever. No other power is so noticeable and so welcome when getting buffed.
