Lvl 50 toon Rewards?
I have been playing since Oct 05, I have 2 accounts and 25 lvl 50s accross those accounts and probaly over 200 alts there to. It isn't hard to get to 50, they in fact reduced the requirement to lvl 20 well before Freedom.
By that argument you have therem they would have to give everyone a month for every lvl 50 they had, thats nice, 25 months free VIP time... I think not. Maybe something like a 30 day free IO access deal per 50, now that would be a nice subtle reward they could do for non VIP players.
Earning a 1200-point AT or 30 days of VIP time just for reaching 50 would be quite excessive, I think. Getting to 50 seems really hard the first time you do it, but once you know your way around it is much, much easier. My most recent character went 1-50 in less than a week, and no, I was not powerleveled.
I'm not totally opposed to the idea of earning points or something for various in-game activies, as some games do. It would be nice. I wouldn't go so far as to say it "should" happen, though. Other than chat restrictions which are removed after a single purchase, f2p accounts get more stuff for free now than we got for $15/mo back in 2004.
I think your reward is access to incarnate content.
Well they used to Give out WS, PB, AS, and AW, back when my bro used to play (i was to young to play then) and when he reached lvl 50 he got all that stuff so I dont see why they cant still give it away?
So, if you consider what they did then to be giving it away, they're giving it away for even less now.

Also, I assume that, despite the latest round of AE tweaks, the power-levelling to 50 in significantly less than a day is still pretty trivial. Given that, there is less than a snowflake in hell's chances of them giving away anything of actual value for reaching 50. Giving away 30 days of VIP time for PLing characters would be insane.

It is ridiculously easy to reach level 50, so your entire thesis is invalid. Sorry.

Now, all the archetypes come automatically with a VIP subscription, you don't need to level up a character for them at all.

So, to be clear, HEATs and VEATs are available to VIPs without having to level up a character to level 20? Looking for confirmation before fixing the wiki pages.

er, I can solo to 50 in a week, and in about 2 days if I pay for farms. (1 if I get lucky) so a month vIP for that. Uh, sure....

2. Getting to level 50 isn't an accomplishment. It's ridiculously easy to reach with very little effort.
Giving away 30 days of VIP time for PLing characters would be insane.

A whole knew industry would spring up over night as players (and RMTers) would run organized PL'ing so they could earn a years free time (or more) in a week.
How about a single xp boost or a slightly weaker one?

I think you should be rewarded for getting to lvl 50 besides getting a badge, or maybe you should be able to pick out 1 thing from the store (or 1 thing from your wish list) or be able to get 30 days of vip time because its not that easy to get to lvl 50. Who agrees with me?

What about giving you 1000 points for the store?
Edit: correcting poor math skills
400 points costs $5 dollars. So 1000 points equals $12.50. So you're now suggesting the company give people a credit of $12.50 for every character they get to level 50?
Why spend a dime on the market when you can get unlimited points by power leveling. Yeah no one would ever try to abuse that idea.
Just give it up already. You aren't getting any additional reward just for reaching an easily attainable level cap.
Yes, what about it? Why should such a change be made? Forbin's math is off, BTW - 1000 points would be worth $12.50

Thank you for correcting me.

Back then, paying $15 a month was your only option if you wanted to play the game at all. Nothing was "given away" at all.

Like everybody here, I too agree that P-Points or P-Market rewards for getting Lv50 is too much and too easy for the dedicated players. And this is coming from a player who took 2.5 years to get his first Lv50.
The idea of rewarding free players with minor premium content would be a major sign of goodwill and possibly encourage free players to spend to get the better content, or at least add one more plus point to those thinking of trying the game out. But the level cap is not hard to get with mindless farms and power-levelling. To improve on this idea I would recommend exchanging Reward Merits and earning Badge Milestones as a means of free players earning premium material, if only in small amounts or time-consuming play that encourages players to explore the whole game.
With Reward Merits it would encourage players to finish story arcs, play TF/SFs and defeat giant monsters. You can't earn these Merits with the DFB or simple farms, so if you want to be able to get some premium stuff you have to stop running around in smelly poo-gas sewers and be a real Hero/Villain. Unlike power-levelling in general, diminishing returns prevent a single piece of content from being re-run over and over in a short space of time, meaning if they want merits fast they need to try a whole range of content to keep the flow going.
Badge milestones could be a one time reward per badge per account. By reaching each milestone you could get a small amount of P-Points equal to the amount of badges it reflects. Another Turbine MMO used a system where small point amounts could be re-earned through game play but required a lot of time an effort to achieve. Maybe by attaching point rewards to such milestone badges like Trailblazer's 200-badge requirement will encourage players to explore all the content and participate in as many things as possible. 200 badges is no easy feat, even for the badgers who have spent years working on their collections. And not many badges exist for being power-levelled or farmed, you could get the level milestones and Inf earned badges sure, but that's not a lot. I could even say this reward would occur at Seeker (500 badges) but I don't think that's possible without being able to use the alignment system to switch and collect both cities' badges, aka, premium content.
That's my two inf on the situation. Encouraging players to explore the entire game content for premium content is MUCH more rewarding for all involved than it is to powerlevel to Lv50. Since it seems these days a lowbie sewer trial can get you to Lv50 with no incentive to step even a foot away from Ms. Lib. I'm also aware that free players don't get Reward Merit access, so I'll say that for R-Merits to be used as an incentive, those would need to be available for free players beforehand.

Conceptually, the idea of rewarding people for doing what they want to do seems ....silly.
I think the real question the OP has is, how can I get to level 50 so easily?
Many of those who respond do so with many level 50s to their credit. They may have forgotten the days when things did not come second nature. Many of us pretty much know the steps to take to get to 50 (without Power-Leveling) by heart. It's just something we do without thinking about it - and DFB makes it even easier, faster. (not terribly different from the sewer runs of old, but AVs give more xp)
Task Forces, particularly the weeklies, give excellent xp, and story arcs have a great xp bonus as well. Perhaps the OP isn't connected to a large SG with leaders who know the game well. Or perhaps the ISP is one of those that prohibits large teams. <shrug>
I think a suitable reward for reaching level 50 would be a gift of prestige for the supergroup that toon belongs to, if any. If not, a one time bonus to the next supergroup that signs him up.

@Ukase
Another MMO I played gave 20% xp bonus per character at cap with a maximum of 200%. Probably wouldn't work in CoH, but the xp boosts given free might.
Or I had an idea for temp powers every 10 levels. At level 1 you have a ranged attack. At level 10 the choice between a melee or ranged attack. Level 20, a small debuff. Level 30, a small self buff, level 40 single target long recast teleport or self teleport (I'm thinking to things like Wentworths or the zone entrances in a zone), level 50, a notice of the well freebie for VIPs (help with some of the iTrial problems), and a temp power. Something to show that the city has rewarded you or you've taken something powerful for yourself.
You should still be able to get a WS, PB, AW, and a AS once you get your hero/villain toon to lvl 50. I think you should be rewarded for getting to lvl 50 besides getting a badge, or maybe you should be able to pick out 1 thing from the store (or 1 thing from your wish list) or be able to get 30 days of vip time because its not that easy to get to lvl 50.
