I am a 5 plus year COH Veteran and I think getting a 50 is reward enough. Although a special LVL up emote would be cool. Its pretty simple. Free players get tons of content for free. If you want more then pay. This will keep this game around that many of us love.

Considering that most lvl50 content is VIP only, and before lvl50 there isn't much to miss out on until a lot more issues release, I think a great reward would be a temp VIP for them to get a taste. So when it runs out, they'll be left wanting more.
Not a month VIP, but something more like trial accounts used to be(I'd totally play those trial accounts over a free account anyway), where they get a week to try it out. And make this reward only count toward their FIRST lvl50, not all, so it can't be exploited repeatedly.
However, there is still a downside even to this awesome idea. They could repeat it by making new accounts entirely, allowing them to try out any new issues whenever they come out. But they still wouldn't be true VIP, so they can just get limitations like the old trial had, preventing them from trying all VIP things within a week each time something new comes out.
tldr; A one time trial VIP, perhaps?

Why would the company give deadbeats that are too cheap to spend five bucks to upgrade their accounts to Premium (the price of 400 paragon points), or only two bucks when they put the VIP starter kit on sale (twice so far since Freedom launched) a way to get an upgrade to Premium for free by simply leveling a character to 50? You do recall that any account that goes VIP for any reason drops to Premium if the sub isn't kept active.
That pretty much defeats the whole purpose of making free accounts pay to upgrade their accounts in the first place.
And let's not forget the RMT abuse that this idea will cause. Yeah let's give those [pancakes] unlimited access to the game just for power leveling a character to level 50 on an infinite number of throwaway accounts.
I did note that potential problem.
That's why they'd get a form of trial VIP, like the old trial accounts. It wouldn't actually be VIP, so they wouldn't get premium and it wouldn't give them full VIP access, just a limited taster.
Back when we had trials instead of freemium, it was the equivalent to giving someone full VIP access until lvl13, so it was limited, but a taster. People could constantly make throw away accounts back then too, but they were still limited from the full content. This would be no different apart from requiring the extra steps of lvling to 50.
Not all players are scum who would do that anyway. Back when we had trials, we had something to try out before paying. Now they get all this free stuff and the constant question appears "Is it worth it?". All they have to base their judgement on is other peoples judgements and what they hear about, not from their own experience.
It could even be as little as a few hours to try things out and not even a week like the trial was, or some sort of token system that lets them try a limited amount of iTrials. I really don't see how something this small could defeat the whole purpose of upgrading, it could motivate some people to want to carry on as real VIP.

Those scumbags are why the devs dropped the hammer on Trial accounts back in Issue 12.
The only thing that has kept their harassment to a minimum since Freedom launched is the fact that they have to spend money to get more chat channels and emails, as well as IO's, MA access, etc.
And that's why the devs will NEVER give out free VIP access to anyone for any reason.

Yes I spent 9 months getting my first 50, doing missions. Then I finally could get WS and PBs. I am not a big fan of the Villian side, but I stuck it out and slowly built a 50 stalker so I could get Widows and AS' s. Now VIPs can get them at LVL 20? I think so they are way easier to get now then they were.

How about, as a level 50 reward, one gains access to full control of their power and therefore can limit themselves however and whenever they want?
Mainly talking about level. Would be fantastically heroic if I could, say, return myself to level 34 then go back to contacts I skipped over to get a chance to play them again...and if there's AVs in the arcs, be able to level shift myself up (maybe only to +4) so I can tear them apart to show just how awesome I am (rather than turning AVs off).
