Interesting find in Independence Port

I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured this is as good a place as any...

Well, while running a Citadel Task Force last night I came across this Longbow Helicopter with a Longbow Warden who's actually hovering off the ground. I'm guessing the surface of the freighter ship will be adjusted to accommodate a Heli-pad. What I found most interesting was the how close Lusca spawned to the ship. Clicking on the Longbow Warden just gives a generic "You cannot enter" pop up.

So what could this be? A test location of a new Signature Story arc mission door? Something entirely different? I've included the location on the map for those who wish to investigate this Helicopter themselves.

Discuss!

...and, no idea. But I'll check it out later today. If I had to guess, it's the new location for the Statesm-- Hero-1 Task Force, once States bites the bullet.

Lusca was next to it for me too Does look like a place for either a new SSA or a new states TF.

You know it's Paragon City when it's the helicopter people notice and not the gigantic octopus in the background.

I'm not quite sure what would be the point of moving the STF to another part of the zone - especially as the helicopter on Statesman's ship is already used for normal missions, and the sublarine beside him is the door for the STF.

Ah Lusca is really just a friendly old Cephalopod, She's just there to point out that the Helicopter wasn't there before, she's just as alarmed as we are!

My guess.. the new starting point for the STF- even the location is more exciting than States!! "Quick.. try and start the TF before the Sushi eats YOU!"

Maybe something bad happens not just to Statesman, but to the ship he's standing on and all the stuff around there? I'm only halfheartedly suggesting this (after all, no one knows where or how he'll die in the SSA). But there has to be a reason for this.

The Ship of State(sman) is affected by Dr Aeon's fiendish new invention ... the Anti-Gravity Gun! This causes the entire ship to "fall" upwards into space and exceed escape velocity! Since Statesman *can't move* he Falls Forever into the Great Black Beyond on top of the ship that leaves the atmosphere! The only way we'll ever get to see him again (maybe) will be the scrap of cloth at the bottom of a crater outside THE MOONBASE™ That Will Never Happen!

Personally speaking, I'd prefer to swipe Manitcore's Bow (and Arrow) and shoot Statesman in the chest MYSELF, and then turn around and tell "Torchy" to pony up (again).

Hey ... it's been done before ...

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Although it was on a global channel, not the forums. Still, the helicopter has been there (on live) for quite some time.

Typical! I'm always the last to hear about these things... So what was the conclusion you came up with months back?

Wasn't it said that if a signature character was killed off in the arc, there'd be no in-game references to them anymore? So the STF would have some sort of replacement?

...does make me wonder about Recluse now, too.

Well, I don't think they meant a complete removal from the lore. Just no appearances in missions, as a TF contact, or dialog talking about him as if he's still alive. That sort of thing.

Yeah, this is a public death, nothing like the 5th Column's being disappeared from ever having existed years back. Of course the fact that all mention of the 5th Column in game was expunged for a while and the 5th Column still returned does make a little dubious the permanence of Statesman's death.

All reference to the 5th Column wasn't expunged. Missions got changed, yes, and a lore plaque ( The one under Atlas ) was changed due to a writer miscommunication, but it was put back quickly. As in, as I recall, a hotfix within days put it back. There were still other references, though.

As in that doesn't match what i saw at the time. There was an extended period, much more than a few weeks, where all the plaques i saw and all the in game lore referred to an unspecified group doing all the 5th Column antics where it hadn't been changed to Council. Even the changes afterwards could've referred to the past events as having been done by the 5th Column before it was taken over from within by the Council. Instead all historic references were changed to the Council. Yes, much of that was later reverted, but it happened over years, not days. For some time the battles that replaced the 5th Column with the Council extended back into the past, effectively making so that they'd never existed.

Restoring the 5th Column was definitely not a hotfix that happened days later considering the threads speculating about their vanishing were ongoing far longer than that. i'm pretty sure any Dev acknowledgment that it had happened took far longer than a few days. Of course it was some time ago, and i don't exactly archive old forum threads, but i'm pretty sure your version of events is less accurate.

Anyway, that's all in the past, but i found it pretty amusing when it happened. And i did lament no longer being able to beat up the *cough*Nazi*cough* 5th Column troops. The Council just lacked some of the flavor and style that the 5th had. Although the Galaxies were a nice addition.
