Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be

This is a song about a super hero named Tony. Its called Tony's theme.

You can get the Dr Strange 1978 through my site (www.drstrange.nl)
Was ... SkyHigh ... on that list!?
For me that movie was like watching City of Heroes the Movie....
- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!
But it re-raises the point: Are you looking for (super)hero movies, or any movie made from a comic? What about movies that inspired a comic series afterwards? (Dark Horse practically cornered the market on turning genre movies into comic series, but some version of Star Trek has been published by nearly everybody in comic form.)
In any case, RED should be on your list.
Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.
That reminds me, wasn't there an older Spider-man movie before the Raimi films? I recall walking through Blockbuster when I was a kid and seeing what looked like a live-action Spidey movie from the 70's or 80's.

Also, a lot of the episodes where combined into 2-hour movies and released on VHS.
There was a made for TV Spider-man movie in the late 70's. It was basically a movie length pilot for the live action show.

Although, I think this was a made-for-TV movie, and it's animated, you can't watch comic/superhero movies without watching probably the greatest superhero movie of all time: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Watched it the other night, and I still get chills when he puts the mask on the first time.

Updated my list again with my initial thoughts on inclusion. I think I've got about 80ish definites, and I think I can go a few over 100, as I'll probably group some movie series together, like Superman 1 + 2, TMNT 1-3 (just realized I didn't include the animated TMNT movie in the list) X-Men 1-3, etc.
Bubbawheat, just 2 weeks ago I had begun compiling a list of theatrical comicbook & pulp style films (excluding TV movies & DVD releases).
Im just going to copy/paste the list below, I hope it helps. Ones I haven't seen are highlighted. Gives me something to search for.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
If someone's going to throw out Dr. Strange, then I have to submit: Nick Fury, starring... the Hoff.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
OK,
It looks like you're going for just superheroes then, or close approximates.
I'll think about this some more, but right off the top of my head there are a couple of kid movies to add to the list:
Zoom Academy for Superheroes
and
Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl
I can't say I'd recommend either of them. Word is that they're both awful. But they fit your criteria, so I thought I'd bring them up.
Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.
And here are a few more
Drive (1997) [great fun movie]
The One (2001)
G I Joe (2009)
Dark City (1998)
The Matrix (1999) and sequels
I know Dark City and Matrix might be kinda iffy but I consider any movie where somebody develops super powers to fit the genre. If you ever decide to include non American, the Japanese have put out quite a few including Yo-yo Girl Cop, Cutie Honey, and Volcano High.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
I love the list, just a little disappointed that you may've elminated some of the old great serials from yesteryear. The old Batman/Superman/Captain America/Captain Marvel stuff is corny as heck, but a fun watch.

A real showstopper!
Where is Howard the Duck?
Its even Marvel....

Several more for you to consider...
Heavy Metal (based on an illustrated magazine, does that count?)
Sheena (1984)
Red Sonja (1985)
Brenda Starr (1992)
Crumb (1994 - not technically based on a comic book, but rather the artist Robert Crumb)
Timecop (1994)
Virus (1999)
Monkeybone (2001)
American Splendor (which someone already mentioned - 2003)
Persepolis (2007)
White Out (2009)
Surrogates (2009)
The Losers (2010)
Red (2010)
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2011)

Been doing more categorizing and wiki research into the movies I hadn't heard of to eliminate some more and it's caused me to figure out how I want to narrow down my focus.
Obviously I'm including every "heroic" movie based on an established comic book.
I'm also including comedy movies using the typical superhero theme in it even if it's an original hero created for that movie.
I'm including movies with a traditional comic book style superhero even if it's from an original screenplay.
I'm including film noir style heroes that feature a comic book style to them even if they were originally based on radio serials or something similar.
I'm excluding movies based on novels unless they fit the traditional costumed superhero style.
I'm excluding direct-to-video movies and made-for-TV movies.
I'm excluding movies with original heroes that have a more sci-fi, fantasy, or martial arts lean to them.
I'm excluding non-heroic movies based on a comic book. I would include them, but the other categories give me plenty of movies to watch. If I continue the project after 2012, I may include them.
If you're offering me up more suggestions for movies, I'd appreciate it if you let me know what category they would fall into. Thanks for the help so far.
Now, any ideas for a name for this project?
Also, it would be great to know where to find some of the harder to find movies on this list. If they're available on free streaming sites or pay streaming sites that would be great info. I'm not subscribed to any at the moment, but I can make use of the free 2 weeks or free month and grab a bunch during that time. I also own a couple dozen on the list, and my local Family Video has a bunch on the list in the 2 for a dollar section.
Just mention any movies you can't find anywhere. I can probably find a streaming source for them.
Sure I'm overconfident but that's only because I'm so awesome.
