Would you "buy" Rad Armor/Melee??

No. Or more to the point, this is already just a recolor of things already available in game.

1) Want a resist-based radiation tanker? Fiery Aura or Electric Armor or Dark Armor and color it green.
2) Want a defense-based radiation tanker? Reflexes or Invuln or even Ice and color it green. Brutes can add Energy Aura, which is so close thematically that a straight port would work fine.
3) Want fumes/bubbles/curlycues around yourself? Cosmetic auras fit the bill.
4) Want radiation attacks? You know what's coming. Energy or Fiery or whatever + green.

Seriously. This is completely unnecessary. I'd rather the programmers spent their time creating things that are 1) actually new, 2) thematically broad instead of narrow or niche, and 3) not easily duplicated through the existing power customization system. Rad Armor/Rad Melee are none of those things.

Gotta be honest with you, when I saw the post about this on the archetypes forums, I figured 'Warboss' was a redname I didn't recognise. I am now therefore, slightly disappointed.

I might, if the set appealed to me individually. And it'd have to be a different take on mitigation, at least slightly, with some interesting or quirky utility power.

Movin' on.

Sorry Talen Lee, I haven't been offered a job as a Dev yet, but if given the opportunity... let's just say Rad Armor/Melee would be at the top of my list.

Yeah, my bad. NuclearMedicine's global in game is Warboss, so I'm used to referring him as such.

Depends how it is put together... but probably.

I know I would!

Just a fun topic, discuss or aggro in as you see fit.

Yeah, I sure would. And if the Devs made a Toxic Armor set for Tanks, I'd buy that also.

I'm kinda hoping they really stop selling power sets after the next batch. I am betting they made some good money. I'd really like to see fun, new, DIFFERENT things to do with the power sets. The trial format is a lot of fun. I'm hoping there is something else coming in i23 or sooner.

Given a conversation I had with a certain redname, I understand there are several new sets in the pipeline. Some will be real 'surprises'.

But I imagine there are lots of trial type things in store too, so you won't be disappointed.

That really is just about it.

They saw my draft rad armor above, pointed out a couple flaws, but agreed it was an interesting concept that could work with some work. Then mentioned that there were lot of powers being worked on, some surprising and others not so much. Nothing revealed, and with the weekly market releasing no shocker to know they are working on things.

Not that I'm advocating they go with my ideas for Radiation Melee and Radiation Armor, but if anyone hasn't seen them and would be interested in reading them I've added in links.

Hopefully you won't think they're too horrible.

Had a random thought about the whole Radiation armor/melee while puttin some foes down on todays tanker tuesday. Now, I will say right now that neither Rangle or Warboss had anything to do with it either, it just cropped up in team chat and those 2 (partners in crime ) weren't in my team

For Radiation melee, I was thinking of something of a non weapon nature, aka fire/energ/electric etc, perhaps have it look somewhat like fire, but act like energy melee, your fists glow with radiant energy and perhaps leave a slight wake through the air as you pummel someone with them

I was also thinking of the combo system employed for Dual Blades. I've yet to see that used anywhere else (unless street justice did, i never bought it), why not take advantage of a mechanic thats already in game?

Only this time, the combos can create secondary effects more to theme. eg, 3 certain attacks grants -regen to target, another 3 grant -dam or -resistance. Numbers of course befitting something that is balanced. This way we could choose a combo effect that would be the most useful to the current situation. This would give us a set that would be unique, useful and definetly not something simply recoloured

Anyway, that was just my random thought for the day.

I know a few friends who would, though seeing as how I haven't really used a new character besides my main for more than 3 days since the game launched there isn't much to be gained for me personally.

But given the trend of Power Proliferation, I would love to see this if only as a continuation of that practice.

I was on your team there and you forgot to mention we also talked about mental melee. All the other archetypes has some sort of psi damage but the melee toons why not get that as well?

I like the idea of using combos to generate the secondary affect (as long as they're not used as the damage build up mechanic for the set). And, yes, the set should be non-weapons oriented.

I don't know I would have to give it seat time on BETA before deciding just like I have with all of the for pay sets. I don't know what else would make any sense for me other than personal seat time and evaluation after that time gives a clear indication one way or another.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

From what was being discussed, we're looking at a toggle based resist/debuff/regen/recovery set with the following:

  • An exotic damage aura type (toxic).
  • Leveraging of the ablative mechanic rather than a monster heal on top of the regen.
  • Resistance (given early) to an exotic damage type (toxic).
  • A unique combination nuke/self-res power.
  • A godmode.
  • A possibly unique "tradeoff" system in the regen/recovery mechanism where an undamaged player would start with high recovery, but as they took damage, would have their recovery come back down while their regen began to climb.
The UStream of the "design a powerset" panel should be up and available. That'll give you a preliminary idea.

Granted, it is kinda premature at the moment. But it looks like it could be a VERY interesting (and easy) powerset to pick up and use. It's occupying a middle ground between Elec and Willpower.
