  1. [QUOTE=Dr. Aeon;4155966]Hey everyone!

I wanted to start a discussion between me, one of your loving mission designers, and you all, the loving people of the forums. The point is to discuss challenge in mission content and how to make things challenging for solo players, small teams, and large teams, without just turning on and off the AV button. That's not to say that we can't still turn on and off the AV button for future content, however. There was an excellent example in a previous thread of how to make things more interesting with a fight, which was that instead of the EB scaling up to an AV, the EB has more EB allies to make things interesting for a full team. I thought this was a great idea, and I’d love to hear more. What we’re basically going for is...QUOTE]

The multiple EB thing is a great idea for teams. I didn't read the whole thread. So I'm sorry if someone else already suggested this. To expand on the idea...

    1. Multiple EB's require them to be fought at the same time. Otherwise, dwindling health on 1 EB, could boost the health of another random EB. The health boost could switch to different EB's at any time and without notice.

    2. Instead of health, you could do this with EB powers. The more the health dwindles, the EB gets access to more damaging powers. Sort of like the EB panicking because he is going to lose.

    3. Maybe a random EB with attach itself to a random person on the team and has access to some of their powers.
  2. Hi All,

I'm running a level 50 Fire/SS Tank and was wondering the following:

Under the Interface Incarnate abilities, there is the option of doing 75% chance of moderate fire damage, or 75% chance of minor toxic damage, or 75% chance of moderate negative energy damage or 75% chance of moderate energy damage.

Out of these 4, which would you pick and why?

Yeah, I sure would. And if the Devs made a Toxic Armor set for Tanks, I'd buy that also.

Depends on what you chose to fight.

But I have an FA/SS Tank with the tier 3 muscular alpha. And I built him with high resistance to smashing/lethal (fire too of course). But I can take on +4/8 council/5th column and warriors with hardly any use of inspirations. The only time I need inspirations is if they land some lucky hits. But it's rare. As far as the level 50 warriors, there is a level 50 contact that gives it in case you're wondering. (can't remember which one at the moment).

As far as the robot ae fire farm; same thing. Although I would trigger all the ambushes at one time. And I admit to using the barrier and pyro incarnate powers when available.

    6. Generally, just asking an easy question like, "We fighting the easiest stuff for the level?" will weed out most of the bad players. If they are picking missions other than council from 30-50 then you know the leader isn't any good. You could also ask what diff level the team is running at. Just being able to answer an easy question should save you from a comedy of errors.

I snickered a little bit when I saw council being mentioned because that's what was at the end of the mission.

Something tells me that perhaps the general make up of the team just wasn't clicking very good. I'm not sure what team make up he/she had before I joined; but after I joined, it seemed melee heavy.

Generally, I do like teaming with PUG's. Not for the lulz. But for the variety of conversations that people tend to strike up while we're playing. I especially like it when people talk about other MMO's that they've played and what they did or didn't like about it.

    Anyways, back on topic.

It's not the LFG tab. It's the Team tab above your chat box. Using the drop down, you can indicate if you're looking for any team, missions, tf's, trials, etc.
  7. Hi All,

I wanted to share something that happened to me the other night to get a different perspective on things.

I was tinkering around with my costume in Steel. And was qued that I wanted to join a missions team. (I didn't feel like making my own that night.)

Anyways, I received a /tell from someone asking me if I wanted to join a mission team. I gladly accepted. I said "Hi" to the group once I joined and didn't get any response. But everybody was in the mission. I've played long enough to know that this is usually a red flag that moral is low because the group is having trouble completing the mission and people have quit. So I go inside the mission and low and behold, the team is at the end room with 2 groups left to kill before the mission completes. And typically, once a struggling team finishes the mission, everyone disbands.

So I had helped the team finish the mission and as I predicted, the leader as well as others said that they needed a break and logged.

I had contemplated quitting even before trying to help this team based on what I thought so far, but figured that maybe the team would move on with other missions. I was wrong.

Do you feel the leader should have explained the situation when sending me a /tell?

And would you have quit the team knowing the scenario once you got inside the mission?

Or would that have been rude since I was qued that I was seaching for a missions team?

Edit* I think this bothers me some because I felt cheated a little since I devoted my play time to a team that disbanded after 15 minutes.

    Spamming

    Hello Players!

I had a situation last night which prompted a question.

    I'll explain the situation first.

So last night, I was leading a team of 8 players on contact missions. Typically, when things go very well on these teams and people are having a good time, I get a global invite by someone on the team. I assume so the next time I make a team, they can ask for an invite if I'm playing someone different.

Anyways, in the middle of a mission while fighting a large group of enemies, I got a global invite that popped up in the middle of my screen and didn't really think much of it. (plus it was blocking my view) I accepted the global invite and went on my merry way. After the mission was over, I checked my global friends to see who on the team invited me and realized that nobody on the team did! It was a level 1 toon in Atlas with a non-sense name like "sklsdf" (can't remember exactly). Most likely a spammer, so I promptly deleted that sucker.

    My question is this...

What other purpose is there in a spammer inviting someone as a global friend? Is it so they can see your other alts and email them spam too? Or do they add your global name to some kind of list? Most of the time, I just see them broadcasting before I "Global Ignore Them As A Spammer".

Here's what I'd like to see for global invites...

When someone global invites you, it goes directly to your email. That way it doesn't block your view and you can check it out later on at your discretion.

Then the last slot needs acc and recharge most of all, and wouldn't turn down end reduction. Since there aren't any Acc/Rech melee IOs, go for Mako's Acc/End/Rech.

Focused Smite has both of those -- Acc/Dam/Rech and Acc/End/Rech -- at better prices, if the levels you have still get you to the ED caps.
My Fire/SS Tanker is at 74. something damage resistance currently. I'd imagine that with the Kinetic Combat, it should cap me or get close to it.

I'm definately looking for a cheaper set to fill in the 2 slots for each melee power versus using purples.

I'm going to look into Focused Smite and Mako's Bite enhancements that was suggested and see what will be most beneficial.
  12. Thanks for the info all. I think I will look into slotting up Kinetic Combats than once I get some cash.

I'm sure there is varying ways of slotting these up. I've noticed that you really only need the bonus of up to 4 of the same set of Kinetic Combats for the Smashing/Lethal bonus. Than the last two slots are free.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to slot the 2 free slots? I'm thinking some kind of damage or recharge. Or both.

I have the Cardiac Alpha, so endurance isn't all that bad anymore.
  13. Hiya,

I currently have 4 sets of the Crushing Impact slotted on my lvl 50 Fire/SS Tanker. I love the global recharge.

But I keep hearing all the rage about slotting Kinetic Combat's in there for the Smashing/Lethal & Melee Defense.

I know Kinetic Combat's are expensive. But I'm wondering if it's really that important to have them slotted in there.

Do you prefer the global recharge or the smashing/melee defense?

But now the KB is annoying to teammates and no one wants to wait around for mines to be laid. I don't really feel any symmetry between the two power sets. All I do with him is break him out once a week for a Hamidon run on Guardian. I was a bit energized (ugh, pun again) with the Incarnate slot but that's worn off.

I almost get sick to my stomach when I think about deleting him. I want to make him work. I've respec'ed and freespec'ed and burned Vet respecs. I went from Munitions Mastery to Electrical Mastery to Force Mastery to Flame Mastery (for the record, Force was my favorite). I have plenty of alts (one other 50, an MM) so I have plenty to do but he'll always be my "first".

So what would you do if you were in my shoes? Respec him? Retire him? Delete him? Redo him? Stop whining and go play?

    Any energy/dev super-builds out there?

I would retire him for the time being. Maybe someday the Dev's will fix /Devices. Then you'll be happy you kept him around.

I saw your prior notes about making a Fire/ Corrupter. Have you consider a Fire/Kin Corrupter?

I have one at level 47 currently and he is very fun to play. I think I get a thrill out of running up to a large group to hit Fulcrum Shift and then hitting my Inferno power. This is of course after the tank runs in to grab aggro.

The bonus being that you'll always be invited to teams. The downside is buffing people. I personally made a macro for speed boost so #1 would hit player 1, #2 would hit player 2, etc.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Ah, I remember leveling up mine. By level 49, I had my council radio missions set to +2 / 8 players. I'd pop two purples inspires per group and they would be down in no time.

He's now a lvl 50 +1 FM/SD/Blaze Mastery scrapper and he is amazing. He has 3 purple sets along with the crushing impact sets, etc. io sets and just melts everything. You will get invited to teams a lot.

Admittingly, he is sort of squishy. But I don't care. I don't get invited to teams to tank.

  19. Thanks for the replies all.

I've decided to keep the slot at 1 for now. But will put more in there later on.

I have been slotting up rage, knockout blow, and haymaker.

Not sure if 6 slotting burn is a must at this point. (i haven't yet)

I've been working on my tank when I can. He is at level 34 currently. I'm able to solo him on the +0 / 8 players (hardly using any inspires at all. just lots of healing flames) currently with just generic io's (most being lvl 25). I'll upgrade that later on to better generic io's. Thinking level 40 io's.

I'm finding this toon to be amazing so far when rage and hasten is going. I get a triple stack of rage sometimes (but not for very long). I'm getting 3 1/2 bars of xp per mission!

    So excited...lol.

    Agreed.

I've lead enough missions to know what to look for.

When building a team, it's good to have half and half. Half damage and half support. It can fluctuate slightly with still good results. But if one side is to heavy though, you've got problems.

There's more. But that's another thread.
  21. Just 3 generic recharge io's?

Also, does anyone know off the top of their head how long the duration lasts for?

I'm thinking of waiting to slot up this power until the later levels as some of my melee powers need some attention.

My Fiery/SS Tanker is at level 26 so far.

As far as hurl stone, I love taking enemies out of the air and find it to take all the annoyance out of otherwise pesky flying mobs.

I was also considering Kinetic Melee - Siphon Power looks like a more interesting version of Build Up, and reducing enemy damage is likely to be helpful in ameliorating the lower defenses/resists of Fiery melee vs other primary sets. Kinetic Melee is hard to get good info on as it's still relatively recent.

Any suggestions, links, or information that would help me decide would be great!

I too was interested in Fiery Aura. So I tried a Fiery Aura/Kin. I got up to about level 8 while teaming with others. Then we got on the topic of /Kin versus Super Stregth. One of the discussions was the power Burst versus Foot Stomp for some aoe damage. We found out in mids that Burst recharges fast but has a smaller radius for hitting foes. Where as Foot Stomp has a longer recharge but a higher radius for hitting foes. In a way, it balances out. So it's just a matter of taste I guess.

I can't remember what the recharge rate was. But the radius for Burst was either 8ft or 10ft. And the radius on Foot Stomp was 15ft.

Based on concept, I remade mine into Fiery Aura/Super Strength. But personally, I hate the crash on Rage.

    At a dilemma...

    Hi Folks,

I have a level 50 Stone/Stone Tanker that has been shelved for about 5 years now on the Triumph server with just stock SO's (yikes). I've migrated over to the Freedom server years ago since there were more people to team with. And had thought about transferring him over as well. But...now I'm wondering if it would be better to just make a new Tank.

I was considering Stone armor again with Super Strength. Or Invulnerability armor with Super Strength.

    Thoughts?

Currently I'm 28 and just sucking wind constantly. Cannot seem to keep the blue bar filled up at all. I generally do not run anything other than my stealth and maneuvers, and they have some end redux. Attacks are common IOs with a little bit of frankenslotting to get some end redux in, but it just never seems to be enough. Once I get 33 I'm probably going to shut off XP and try to farm some AE tickets since the market is just bone dry on 30's recipes right now... but getting to that point is just painful with the serious end issues.

Just trying to get a feel I guess if this is common or what? I know a couple more slots in endurance would help, but I'm just not sure I can fit them in by 33 and still have enough to get the global recharge I need to perma mindlink.

Is this normal? The last 2 characters I took to 50 were a MM and a SS/WP brute, and both builds are generous for end. So I'm not sure if this is just a regular thing and it will round out a bit more as I get my slotting completed or if I just need to do a bit of reevaluation for how much end redux I need to account for.
Interesting that you ask this. I just dusted my Widow off last night and realized just how much I loved playing her.

She is at level 47 currently. She only has level 45 or level 50 IO's in her. I don't have perma mind link. I'll check into that at level 50 with better IO's when the time comes.

A friend asked me to send them my build because they were having end issues as well. So I just copy/pasted so you could see too.
