What AT would win a race to clear a +4 8x map. Can choose anymap any AT

SS/fa brute on fire mobs?

A Dom?

Elec/SD brute or scrapper

Fire/kin?

Something else?

Main question would be: why.

+4x8 just doesn't make good sense. Anything done at +4x8 can be done twice as fast at +2x8.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

The correct answer to your question, although probably not the one you want to hear, is "it depends". It depends heavily on what enemy group you're fighting, what map you're on, and other parameters (inspiration use? incarnate powers? etc).

My pick would be SS/FA/MU brute on mobs that are weak to fire. The damage type they deal is irrelevant as long as it doesn't come with debuffs, survivability can be pushed to high enough through insps while also leaving more than enough room to cap damage.

Another option could be a Plant/Fire/Ice dom on mobs with extremely strong attacks and weak defenses, abusing confuse to rack up defeats fast.

Experience gain.
Performance evaluation.
Challenge.
Fun.

Those are four possible reasons, I'm sure many more could be listed.

The way I read the original post, you can pick whatever map/mob you wanted, the only concern is time to clear a +4/x8 map.

Depends on what you chose to fight.

But I have an FA/SS Tank with the tier 3 muscular alpha. And I built him with high resistance to smashing/lethal (fire too of course). But I can take on +4/8 council/5th column and warriors with hardly any use of inspirations. The only time I need inspirations is if they land some lucky hits. But it's rare. As far as the level 50 warriors, there is a level 50 contact that gives it in case you're wondering. (can't remember which one at the moment).

As far as the robot ae fire farm; same thing. Although I would trigger all the ambushes at one time. And I admit to using the barrier and pyro incarnate powers when available.

You're missing the point. You choose whatever you want to fight *I* choose whatever I want to fight. Who finishes faster?

Can you FA/SS tank finish faster the council map faster than a fire/kin can finish banished pantheon or can the fire/shield scrapper beat both of you on a hydra-man mission (if you think council are wimps, remember there's a reason these nobs only give 80% exp but this test doesn't measure inf/exp only speed)?

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

You forgot one important thing.

What enemy group?

Sure, you may slap up +4x8 Council and make them your *****.
What happens when you go mob-diving on +4x8 Arachnos?
What happens when you miss that sapper mob-diving +4x8 Malta?
Mothership Rikti?

In short, lots and LOTS of variables here.

As such, simply stating +4x8 is WAY misleading.

My main can hop in and hit aggro cap on stuff like Council and be rocking +60% (66/63/61) defense to everything except Psi. So I can (and have) gone AFK in the middle of a group of Council. I've come back and they're STILL trying to attack me and my HP are at or darn near 100%.

I do that with Carnies?

I come back to a Plank Tank.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

The answer to the original question is really what is farming xp/influ AT/map FotM.

I would have to say SS/fa brute on an ae map with fire foes.

Anybody think of a combo that can farm xp/influ faster?

This. My MM can run 4x8s, I frequently run pretty much everything out in the real world that way. Except for bank missions. Why? Pretty much the same reason I suck at the warehouse part of Lambda. "Plow the road" is fun, but takes freakin' forever.

If you were farming, well, I'm sure people have analyzed the xp rates of +2 vs. +4.
