Fiery aura/

Grey Pilgrim's guide has sold me on the Fiery Aura powerset, however fire/fire seems a little too plain and obvious for my tastes, plus he admits to not taking all too many of the /fire powers.

For something more fun, I was thinking Fire/stone for fun times with PBAoEs - the knockup helps keep the foes around and I have loved seeing foes slammed around on my Grav Controller. As far as hurl stone, I love taking enemies out of the air and find it to take all the annoyance out of otherwise pesky flying mobs.

I was also considering Kinetic Melee - Siphon Power looks like a more interesting version of Build Up, and reducing enemy damage is likely to be helpful in ameliorating the lower defenses/resists of Fiery melee vs other primary sets. Kinetic Melee is hard to get good info on as it's still relatively recent.

Any suggestions, links, or information that would help me decide would be great!

Super Strength and Dark Melee would also be good to combine with Fiery Aura. Both have damage boosting powers that can be on permanently (takes a lot of recharge for DM's) and would boost the damage bonus of Fiery Embrace. Rage crashes are the only issue with Super Strength. Dark Melee lacks AoE attacks, so you would have to depend on Burn and your epic pool.

There was a Fire/SS thread recently about soloing ITF. Just be aware that it isn't the only combination capable of doing that.

/Kinetic Melee would also be good. The -Damage helps with the lower resistance values, and Power Siphon can be a huge boost to your damage aura. The Stuns and KD effects should also help you out, and Burn + Burst should help out even more in the AoE department.

I tend to group at every available opportunity even on characters that are perfectly capable soloists. My first interactions with AE resulted in a lot of dirtnaps for my MM, so I don't go there much. I did read that thread, I think, but it was more "interesting" than "relevant". Rather than make a finely-tuned soloist, I'd be more interested in a good blend of damage, aggro, resilience, etc to be of use to any random team. As far as I can tell from reading and looking at Tomax, fiery aura alone gives you a leg up on soloing due to other sets typically being slow killers.

I too was interested in Fiery Aura. So I tried a Fiery Aura/Kin. I got up to about level 8 while teaming with others. Then we got on the topic of /Kin versus Super Stregth. One of the discussions was the power Burst versus Foot Stomp for some aoe damage. We found out in mids that Burst recharges fast but has a smaller radius for hitting foes. Where as Foot Stomp has a longer recharge but a higher radius for hitting foes. In a way, it balances out. So it's just a matter of taste I guess.

I can't remember what the recharge rate was. But the radius for Burst was either 8ft or 10ft. And the radius on Foot Stomp was 15ft.

Based on concept, I remade mine into Fiery Aura/Super Strength. But personally, I hate the crash on Rage.

My main, Nakoa, is a fire/stone and that is a fun combo. The AoE is nice with Tremor. It's got a ranged offering if you are into that. And Seismic Smash is awesome single-target damage.

Jump into mob, while agro is collecting around Blazing Aura, hit Buildup and Fiery Embrace. Hit Burn and Tremor and hit the biggest baddie with Seismic Smash. When the smoke clears, just about everything is dead, Burn is about done recycling, and you can finish off everyone left with the Hammer/Mallet.

It may be a slow toon in the early going as /Stone is pretty end-heavy, but I'm having a blast with it at post-50.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
