Gender Inequality Issues

I posted about things like cigars (or better yet cigarettes) for females in the costume request thread years ago and they finally gave us that with the gunslinger pack.

I will echo most of the sentiments in this thread so far. Especially stuff like thigh high boots and bracers for men, and tattoos and coats for women.

I can understand the dev's resistance to things like corsets for males as it could (and probably would) result in absurd costumes created by the lowest common denominator of the player base. However, I think those will be the exception and not the rule.

kind of along these lines also, although perhaps back to the female mm minions, i would like tosee the sybils added to the lore incarnate pets with maybe the minotaur or cyclops as the partner pet, a second cimeroran option. and a coralax partnered with a coral warder option too.

just sayin. XD

but today i was again trying to make a good longer haired option for male and all i can really use is ponytail but it's so... tiny. i want a warrior with a big bead -which he has- and then long hair too. dare i say Glam? yes, i do dare. beverley thrills and the other long options too please, for male.

Believe it or not, Nightstar, IVy and the "female" Praetorian Clockwork in general were a huge source of inspiration for me. Partly because they have breasts, but also partly as evidence the humanoid form does not inherently have to be male or otherwise androgynous. There's nothing wrong with using the female form on a creature that, by the nature of its mechanics, does not have separate genders, nor the need for them.

Originally, I held the belief that... If I'm going to make a woman, I might as well make a point out of her being a woman, and if I'm going to make something distinctly inhuman, then there's no reason to use anything but the male model. I happen to believe that I was wrong, and it took someone's interpretation - GOOD interpretation - of a creature which was both clearly non-human and yet still displayed the female form before this dawned on me. Before then, I saw no reason to put a female character in a face mask or body-covering clothes. Why make a female if I was going to do that? It sounds like a stupid thing to ask for a reason - because it is.

To me, the reason why Nightstar looks female despite being a robot is simple - that's the style Anti-Matter went for. If he has the technology to both make his machines work AND shape them into anything he wanted, why NOT make some of them female? Just because a robot doesn't need breasts doesn't mean it can't have them. After all, a robot doesn't need a human face, yet we keep trying to put human faces on our robots, don't we? The Praetorian Clockwork are not just utilitarian machines. They are aesthetically pleasing machines, as well, something which is intended to be integrated into society's very culture.

ok, so Nightstar makes some sense then. Still, i dont think Siege needs to be so ginormous if he's going to be standing in a building talking to mother mayhem, and opposite NS only reminds me that females must be sexy and males can be whatever they want to be BUT sexy.

Man-bots would like to be aesthetically pleasing also.

again, going through recent costume sets, i ended back at the barbarian set, which had amazing pieces, but almost each piece in the set was limited to a bodytype. females didnt get the fuzzy-shorts [would be great for cave-women!], and males didnt get the leather-brief. conan[the epitome of 'barbarian'] wore a leather brief sometimes, and it's a great look that could work with a lot of concepts.

i really dont get why the pieces werent just made for both body types. [i consider HUGE to be male, really, even though it does get a little less love.]

I actually think they made the right call with Siege. On Primal Earth, he's just a buff-looking robot which is - to be frank - very boring. On Praetorian Earth, he has shed his old body and is instead using one of the new battle mech bodies - those of the War Walkers. If you were a warmongering machine and had the choice of any body, would you not pick the biggest, heaviest and most heavily-armed? I'd become an aircraft carrier, personally

I can see how the difference between Nightstar and Siege might look bad on the surface, but it seems to me that Nightstar primarily went for style while Siege primarily went for power. Could Nightstar have gotten War Works body, too? Yeah, but that would have made them clones. Could Nightstar have gotten a War Works body INSTEAD? Probably, but Siege's original model from Primal Earth is singularly uninspired, so he's the better candidate for a new body. Besides, Night Star is insane and believes the full moon on that one particular alternate Earth gives her powers, so it makes sense she'd go for style. I just have to wonder why she has blades on her arms.

SoAs. Female Arachnos Widows get the buttcape on their uniform costume slot, male widows don't, and in fact can't have ANY cape on that costume slot at all.

Honestly I'm not sure that I'd even want a "buttcape" for my male widow, but I'd like to be able to have a cape of some kind, and who am I to say someone else can't have a buttcape on theirs?

Edit:Just thought of something to add to your list. Females get a version of the Ascension boots with an extra plate bit above the knee that men have no access too. That one thing basically single-handedly put me off of buying any of the ascension stuff. Shame really, cause I'd have rocked the hell out of those boots. (I suppose this could fall under the "Thigh-High boots for men" category, but I wanted to add specifics.)

I'd add Thigh High Boots for Males in general. The Ascension Boots are nice, but I just want thigh high boots period.

you might as well add the new carnie of light pack too. it's on the beta vip test server right now.

it consists of several face-masks and head details as well as the long requested "sash" item, all of which are limited [for no real reason] to female characters [plus some neat mace weapon models]. i asked on freedom friday facebook comment thread and was given the answer that most of the male character of the carnival of light can already be reproduced with other costume pieces in game, and its only the females that are wearing the unique pieces that will be for sale. while true, there really is still no reason the VERY good, unique, and highly requested items couldnt have been made available to *all* three body types.

it's a shame really, the pieces are wonderful but limited to the one body type. and i figured the point of releasing them to the public so players could use them with other costumes and themes in addition to the carnival of light, not solely to mimic the carnival of light - otherwise it should be an npc transformation power.

Hmn, male widows would look kind of cool with a 'high collar' around-the-shoulders kind of cape. Kind of 'Doomy Spider Inquisitor' look, y'know?

I really hope the Devs would take the steps proposed on this thread.

The only thing that should be gender specific is ... drum roll ... GENDER

That's right everyone, if I want to be a big hulking guy and wear a coconut bra ... I should be able too ... PARTY TIME HAHA

->life of the party<- drinks all around.

I'm actually reserved ... But, I don't have to be in game ... dance everybody .

WOW .. .that was a weird mood?!?

They already explained the issues with that bundle. I wouldn't call it inequality, unless you consider the Carnies not equal...which...they aren't!

Not to say some of those pieces couldn't be made for males, but they're taking a villain groups outfit and giving them to the players, and OMG the Carnie females are the ones who wear those pieces.

They've already said they'll try to put some of those other pieces over to males at possibly...maybe...well it's the devs they dont tend to give 100%

(Psst, mods, this means please sticky)

Costume Issues
Might as well start with the big one.

Things Females should have but don't:
Tattoo options like guys
Renegade hat
Mars chest symbol
Baron coat (Magic pack)
Steampunk jacket (Steampunk pack)
Gunslinger jacket (Gunslinger pack)
Chaps (Gunslinger pack)
Male Resistance style hair
Male Barbarian belt
Male Barbarian shoulder rings
Male Barbarian shorts
Syndicate pants pattern
Male Resistance/Aviator hat

Thing Males should have but don't:
Bracers (Martial Arts pack?)
Shoulder pets
Venus chest symbol
Witch hat(Magic pack)
Female Resistance hair styles
Headband and tiaras under detail 1
Female Barbarian belt
Female Barbarian shoulder rings
Female Barbarian skirt (aka loincloth)
Bolero fur (Magic pack)
Female High and Low Ponytails
Buttcapes for widows
Acension boots with above knee plats

Animations
Females should have the same sit animation options as males

Gameplay
Female Mastermind minions

Please add the things you've noticed and I'll add them to this post and hopefully someone dev wise will pay attention and these things might get fixed
I completely agree on both accounts. I would also like to add female huge body types. I know it isn't the ideal concept of a woman in the majority of society's opinion these days. But I can't argue against the small demand for it.

I would also like to see men's face textures, and hairstyles be evened up with the amount of options that the females have. This would require the following:

8 more face options for males
10 more young face options
9 more hairstyles (some of which are longer)
and 16 more Boot options

I want to second the request for females to receive:
Baron Jacket
Steampunk Jacket
Gunslinger Jacket
Gunslinger Chaps
Gunslinger Boots

I would like both genders to get new tattoo options. The current ones are very sub-par. There are several good tattoo magazines out there for reference. I would like a set for RANDOM tattoos on the chest and/or back, upper arms, gloves and/or knuckles, face (see Kat Von D's stars), legs and calves and/or ankles. A themed feminine tattoo set (a cherry blossom tree with petals blowing off, or something delicate or elegant). And a themed masculine set of modern tribals or skulls or creatively arranged flames. (I know they are overdone and cliche but what tattoo pack would be complete without it?) And just because something is masculine or feminine does NOT mean it should only be available for one sex. All patterns should be available for all body types. If a male huge character wants flower tattoos, that should be his choice. I can easily see a hardcore chick with flame or skull tattoos. I have said it before and I will say it again. If something COULD be worn by either sex, it SHOULD be available.

Of all the things Lord Misogyny could be using female mind slaves for, I'm pretty sure "beat the crap out of Statesman" is about the only one that works precisely in the opposite direction of his implied goals. It's not like there's a way to make your minions bow down and kiss your feet whilst trembling in awe.

Hm m m I would imagine that they could use the /petsay Praise emote which would accomplish the same thing.

Since MM pet customization does not exist yet female minions would be randomly puled from the summons pool. Anyone who wanted to be inappropriate would have to keep releasing and summoning pets. I think that alone would deter the casual offender and that more active one will just find ways to be offensive without the game play enhancement.
