Just want to give the devs a pat on the back
I'm a sucker for themes. I love the idea of immersing myself in a theme, and I loved the "comically scary" (in every sense) theme that pervaded this mission trial.
I ran into some people on the help channel asking "What's the point?" due to lack of substantial rewards. Running the trial is the point. I would run it for no reward at all, and ran for the badges just for the hell of doing it. It was fun.
Plus, as a low-level, I don't get final-fights like that very often. It was nice.
I also like that it was relatively short although could easily have gone for one about twice as long.
I think I would have liked it just as much, however, if there was actually a spooky mansion somewhere in the map and I could visit a spooky contact to run the mission.

Anything via the new LFG tool is pure win.
It was fun, short, and quick and easy to run without having to build/form a team.
The atmosphere was great, and made me feel like I was taking a ride through the Haunted House at Disneyland or something. Excellent design, and the bonus EB was a great touch.

It wasn't just a reskin - Dr. Kane's mansion is a lot bigger than Manticore's place, and there are a lot more rooms and corridoors in it.

The Haunted House was beautiful in it's detail. I liked the wall sconces - the light with it's greenish glow was spooky.
Where is this mission that has Manticore's mansion? I hear it mentioned but I've never come across it.

Ah thats why, I've never done his arcs yet. Only the villain side ones.
I enjoyed the trial, but the difficulty put me off doing it more than a few times (had it not been limited to 4 people, I might have done it a few more times). Still, I was happy to see another non-incarnate LFG mission. I wish more people would just queue up for such things rather than sit around broadcasting "pst for Halloween/sewer team".

I wouldn't mind seeing the maps in AE just to poke around with them and check them out more w/o doing the trial

Dollface's Mansion is a decrepitfied version of Manticore's Mansion.
Dollface's and Kane's Mansion has a bedroom and mad scientist room... which Manticore's Mansion doesn't have.
Manticore's Mansion has a Praetorian Lab and a sandy cavern basement.
Kane's Mansion has a spookified Cimeroran sandy cavern basement.

The Banners and the Zombie Invasion are fine, those are actually "spooky" and "scary" with the sky going dark or red. They aren't actually scary of course but at least they aren't silly, unless you count the idea of heroes causing giant monsters to spawn so they can beat them up for rewards as silly. I do, but I can accept that as a mechanical issue.
Trick or Treating is too silly for me. Kids stuff, so to speak. It doesn't make any sense either, it's too meta-gamey.
And then there's the trial. I had high hopes for it but I've only played about half of it (I joined an ongoing trial) and that was just to unlock the murder of ravens CCE. What I saw in that brief time was enough to turn me off from trying the rest of it.
Doctor Kane was just as "hilarious" a character as Doctor Brainstorm. In fact, now I'm wondering why they had to make a new mad scientist for this. Why didn't they use Doctor Brainstorm, or give Doctor Creed a new job since they changed Mercy?
The Halloween event is my least favourite of the special events because it's just too much silly and not enough scary.

I think it would be more appropriate to ask why Dr. Vahzilok wasn't running the place, if you had to ask.
61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.

Maybe Kane is fronting for Dr Vahz?

As a couple of my characters noted, Kane's zombies are made by a different process than Vahzilok's - they aren't patchwork cyborgs. Nor are they Banished Pantheon Husks, as there's a distinct lack of glowing runes on their skin. Apparently, the bad doctor is an independent.

With the old method you could at least try with 8 when interest dropped for the event.
Now not so.

Having it be co-op really has nothing to do with the minimum size if that's what the devs are worried about.
At 8 minimum you can still do 4 heros and 4 villains and is easier to form when interest for the overall event drops to nothing in the last week.

Although the halloween map is just manticores mansion reskinned its the best looking map in terms of detail that I have ever seen in this game. This lets me know if you guys had all the time in the world you could really revamp a lot of stuff so its looks good by todays standards. You guys did a really good job with making the halloween haunted house experience feel real. I love the touch with certain zombies like mario and wario. The badges were all doable in a timely fashion for that trial too. That in itself is huge bonus points for me.
For the players what did you like about the trial?
For the devs if they respond what did you like the most about creating the trial?
