Pistol Scrapper
If you have ever wanted to play a pistol scrapper, I humbly offer this build as a jumping off point for your imagination. ----- irrelevancies snipped --------------------- SuperCent4: Level 50 Technology Corruptor Primary Power Set: Dual Pistols Secondary Power Set: Time Manipulation |
HP, AT Modifiers, Damage Scales, Defense, probably more I'm not thinking of ...
Not to mention that Scrapper Primaries are Melee Attacks and Corruptor Secondaries are Ranged Attacks.
Trying to equate the two is rather absurd.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
The point, I think, was he made a character who had pistols and could play like a Scrapper. I don't approve, but it's none of my business.

I want GunFu not pistols for my scrapper.
hit them with the gun ram the gun in their mouth and shoot... stuff like that.
I see a rather glaring flaw in your post. Scrapper =/= Corruptor

Is it everyone's cup of tea? No.
If they ever create a true scrapper primary for pistols will I play it? Hell yes!
For now, this character brings to the table pretty much everything I want for a scrapperish feel. She's tough to kill, deals decent damage, and spends her life in melee. I'm happy.

IIRC the original concept for the dual pistol set was going to be a short-range "melee" set for scrappers and such. That's what I thought of when I saw the topic title. Disappointing.
Now that I think of it, most Gun Fu characters from John Woo films and elsewhere (Equilibrium, The Matrix, etc.) actually do have Time Manipulation as a secondary.

It looks like he sort of glossed over my admissions of it being an imperfect guilty pleasure, but meh.

I did however see some erroneous points made.
For years I was one of the folks who pined for a pistol scrapper, and finally with the introduction of Time Manipulation I have one!

The flaws are still there.

I see no such admission in your post. Not a word about imperfection. Not a word about guilty pleasure. There was nothing of the sort to gloss over.
I did however see some erroneous points made. Nope, you have a Dual Pistols Corruptor. Except that it isn't a Scrapper, it is a Corruptor, so those that have been wanting to play a pistol scrapper still can't play one. It's a Corruptor, not a Scrapper. The flaws are still there. |

My Dual Pistols/Kin Corruptor already played at point blank range, Time will only make it that much safer.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.

I, like most people who read the OP's post, understood them to say there is no such thing as a pistols scrapper but this is a fun alternative.
If you are either too dense or more likely too unwilling to accept that because the OP didn't actually use the exact phraseology you wanted or expected then that is your issue, not the OPs.
Thelonious Monk
Time is pretty nice indeed for that armored feeling coupled with a ranged attack powerset. Opens a whole lot of concepts.
.... OP inspired me to roll a DP/sonic corr, that i will infuse S/L defence softcap in it... thx a lot for the idea.....

I came her to post about Broadsword Blast, but the OP has a good idea. I had a similar thought when I was messing with DP originally and did DP/Traps. It felt more like a damage dealer than a team supporter.
If I wasn't already doing my Ice/Time I might do this. I was fiddling with Time in Mids the other day and realized I could get 200% global recharge. That along with high defense and heals could make a Corruptor feel very Scrappery.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

This is not a suggestion, this is not an absolute truth, this is a statement of... FUN!
For years I was one of the folks who pined for a pistol scrapper, and finally with the introduction of Time Manipulation I have one!
This is a concept build. My character spends almost all of her time in melee, and her damage is NOT on par with a scrapper. She will be susceptible to status attacks until I get Incarnated out. This character is currently only level 33, but is an absolute *joy* to play. If you have ever wanted to play a pistol scrapper, I humbly offer this build as a jumping off point for your imagination.
Keys to survival:
Time's Juncture provides a HEFTY negative to-hit modifier to everything within 25 feet of me.
Farsight and Hasten and Chronoshift are all permanent (or will be when I get them).
Defense is positionally soft-capped, and endurance is kept in check with sets and procs.
The build is not cheap, but it does not contain any purples, so it is cheaper than it could be. I also used a LOT of Alignment Merits from other characters to fund the build.
