Let us use the IO's we already slotted on our free accounts

I'd already been playing for years before ED or IOs came along. Several of my characters are still using pure-SO builds, just because I never bothered to work up an IO build for them and go through the rigamarole with the market (another late addition) to craft and slot 'em. Many of the characters who do have IOs (generics and regular sets only, no purples and of course no PvP) still have their old SO builds preserved in slot 2 for nostalgia's sake.

I live with knockback. I live with not having perma-whatever. I have fun.

That works for you and sounds fun for you. That sounds painful and unfun to me. See where I'm going with this?

so much VIP elitism here. obviously they aren't going to give the whole game away for free but why is the requirement for use of IOs you earned/bought/slotted while a paying customer so high? 4-5 years of sub isn't worth throwing someone a bone? 6 years is? I just don't get it. i know there will be lots of worthless responses but this is enough of an issue to get me not to play any of my three accounts (this sub ends in Oct) since most of my favorite characters are on the two newer accounts and I have no interest in playing a shadow of the character I worked so long and hard to build. So what you say, they don't lose or gain anything? i guess depends on how you look at it, i have a tendency to buy packs and names changes but I guess that isn't revenue they want and isn't revenue the elitist VIPs here don't want Paragon Studios to have.

LOL... I love it..

I wanna play for free... so gimme what I want or I won't play for free! Uhh ok

And to the original posters suggestion:
/unsigned

Sorry but the game is extremely playable with SOs..
Sorry but $2 a month to play with IOs is NOT a lot of money... Or are your coveted toons not even worth $2?

I guess the good thing is.. in a month there won't be any freemiums posting All the people who are supposedly quitting ...won't be able to post... and complain they aren't get everything they want.. for fee...

I have a account held consistently since launch and other account that has 1 lvl 50 and maybe 7 months here and there of time. I want both to have use of io's. Is that possible by un-subbing older account, subbing other account then both play with IO's?

Indeed. Some people are happy with a cheese pizza. I prefer a pizza with seven kinds of meat on it. I typically have to pay more to make myself happy, settle for a cheese pizza, or forego pizza altogether. And I imagine that's where you're going with this, relatively speaking.

Yes, you should be able to do just that. You might lose some content though.

They already can't post.

Premium players can post - but they can only post in tech/bugs and player questions, that I've seen (maybe announcement discussion? no idea). I'd love to see a slight relaxing of the rules but Zwilly seems pretty firm on his stance (or more likely, seems pretty firm on NCsoft's stance).

(Also, they can only make new threads and reply to threads they created, they can't reply to threads they didn't create.)

Doesn't Exemplaring already do that? Leave enhancements functional but discout set bonuses, I mean?

So, technically, that code already exists in game, right?

I do agree with both side on this, however....
I think crafting, slotting new i/os should require the license.

I/O's that are already on the character should work, and respec'ing should allow you to reslot the i/o's which were already on the character.

I rejoined, i went vip again, even though I really wished not to.
the only reason I did was because I spent so much of my time slotting up my 50's with I/O's.
it is poor choice on coh to render everyones hard work useless. on some, I couldn't even afford to reslot s/os, when i left it was close to 500mill for a single i/o on the purps.

Going hybrid model would have brought back a Lot of old players, however, just like 2 of my old guildies which returned to check it out, most of the players simply "right-click==>uninstall" soon as they see they have to start over with s/os.

and before someone said "blah blah just pay the 2$", I already resubbed, for 4 months...at which point i will have the perma-i/o license vet reward. I just think that its a bit dirty of them :/
(btw, resubbed becuase of the collective lock outs of items, the I/o's was a big reason tho)

total spent on my accounts 1680$,
2 accounts, every expansion, every stupid costume piece pack.
the least they can do is give the players their i/os.... > I almost feel like i got suckered into resubbing for 4 more months.

We should get IO use unlocked with 400, but actual slotting and crafting remain as it is. That way you can use those ones you already have slotted by just paying the points.

But they can already unlock IO's for 160 or 200 pp.

This is for a friend of mine that's on a premium account and can't post:

"not likeing the 30 day licenses

i really believe it would be better if the 30 auction/invention license was perminate, if the
devs. want, they could raise the price up then let you keep it forever, that would be
so much better then buying a new license every 30 days"

And my thoughts on it: I think that be a nice idea too to buy a permanent license instead of having to buy one every month. Maybe not permanent but have it be bi-annually (every 6 months) or annually type of thing. That's my thoughts.

I've no objection to adding a permanent license but account wide would probably be expensive.

So it is expensive to get if you aren't a subscriber or you don't have a lot of vet rewards accumulated before Freedom launched.

IOW, it is available, but very expensive. (And it is a Tier 7 reward, not Tier 8.)

Argh, I hate how those are worded.

Tier 7 sounds like "I'm on tier 7" and not "I completed tier 7"

The thing is, they have to set a cutoff for it someplace if they're trying to monetize it. You can argue for X months/years just as easily as someone can argue Y months/years.

And it's NOT 6 years.

Right now with the way the rewards are structured, it's 27 months.

If you were already a 4 year vet, you should have something in the neighborhood of 20 tokens already. This means you have about 6-7 months until you have permanent access to IOs.

If you're a 5 year vet, you should, at worst, be a few months out from having this reward level.

Honestly, I could probably see my way clear to a permanent (for all accounts) license.

Say, 3200 points. This works out to about 20 months of paying for an IO license. So new players buying it would see a slight discount over simply paying every month for a license.

The only problem is, buying early access still causes problems because someone taking a Day One free account and buying the IO perma-license still can't buy IOs in the auction house.

Yeah, this is about the place where I fail to be able to connect to your logic. This is a game. To me, if ANYTHING in it can be described as "work" and/or "hard work" then you are most assuredly doing something wrong. So, unsurprisingly, I don't really understand the issue. I have a few characters who are IO-ed... but it was done over a long period of time, and didn't require me to do any "work." It required some patience, and a bit of research, but I find that learning about the game is fun... so I didn't mind. Even marketing is vaguely entertaining.

So, I guess what I am trying to say, is that if you find something in this game unfun... don't do it! Much like the idea not to touch something that hurts.

Try building a Castle from scratch. Damn thing took 3005 items to build and had three levels, so YES it was a lot of work, but it was a damn fine accomplishment when it was finished. Actually instead of calling it work, I prefer to think of it as a labor of love.

My only regret is that I lost it during a base crash and had to rebuild the whole base from scratch. Least I still have the Pictures.

No thank you, I will take my own advice and not do things in-game I wouldn't enjoy.

See how that works?

OMG that would've sucked... to lose all that time when you could have been farming or some other unpleasant activity instead.
