  2. Um... I think you guys are pretty optimistic... Naratoe already has an established fan base that can keep this engine alive for another five to ten years. Dude is talking about stifling his superhero creativity into elemental mages when the game is about to go tabula rosa. And what elemental Mage uses spines?

  4. This is a plea to Masashi Kishimoto creater of the Japanese Manga Naratu to buy City of Heroes and make a Naratu MMO which IMO would be a huge success on many levels. The jist of the wall of text is explaining how easy the port of City of Heroes IP would be to the Naratuverse. It is also an extremely creative way to market his brand to the Americas. This is where non-naratu fans would play the game and possibly become naratu fans. It also blurs the line between comiccon/gamecon/ and cosplay which equals hot catgurls playing Madden while talking about the latest walking dead episode.

    Dear Masashi Kishimoto,

    A great game with the best MMO engine ever created is ceasing operations on November 30nd. NCSoft has decided to go in other directions and the IP of the game City of Heroes/Villians may be available for the right price. The market is ripe now for you to bring the Naratu saga to the MMO community and I can guarantee with some changes this product will dominate the market.

    The best part of this partnership between CoH and Naratu is how easy the port will be. All of the powers existing in CoH can be reclassified easily as powers in the Naratu Universe and I will go into that further later. IMO the biggest job will be changing the main map models to represent the main locations in the Naratu Universe. ( IE- Atlas Park as The Hidden Leaf) Also, we need to mold CoX/V story line and character abilities to fit the Naratu world. There are 3 major types of powers in the Naratuverse, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu. For Ninjutsu and Genjutsu activation time would have to include hand signs (which can be ported from the Ninja secondary for stalkers)

    As an example of how well CoX would port to Naratu Powers here is a list of some Nature Transformation powers (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Nature_transformation)

    Lightning, Fire, Earth, Water are already existing CoH powersets and there are many wind elements in the Storm powerset! Also, when you look at the advanced types we have Wood (hello Plant control) Storm, Ice, Dark, and Magnet.

    The example of Advanced Types (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Elements#Advanced_Types) takes me to another change that would have to be made and that is opening up new paths for characters at different lvls (Jonin, chunin!!!). A young shinobi would not be able to master advanced techniques early (although they would have ninja run!) This template for character paths has already been established within Widow and Crab archtypes and to a lesser extent Patron and Epic power sets. My proposal is to open up the advanced jujitsu paths at later specific levels!

    Genjutsu (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Genjutsu) - we already have mind control powers, illusion set, however I think there would have to be new visual effects and possibly faulty targeting system for ranged attacks, - range could also work. Some defensive powers will have a way to be immune (like unstoppable) and a pool power that could make it less ubski.

    Taijutsu (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Taijutsu)- martial arts, sstrength, street justice, energy mellee, and the new set no one has ever seen like psi melee, and that new thing for blasters and doms. Only the CoH community would know they were already in the works before you bought the IP so that = FREE DEVELOPMENT!!!

    Then there is the kicker- There is many ways you can take a character, how about patron powers for akatsuki or become one of the 7 swordsmen, or Jinjuriki!! Imagine having an animal “costume” when you go to sage mode that uses the existing animations to make the switch! This is gold in the Americas and Asia probably Europe too.

    Shadowclones- gang war that all look like the caster!!!!
    Teleport- different kinds phaseshift (like tobi) and target tp (like the golden flash).
    PvP rankings to become the Kage or the Hokage!!!!

    OMG I am a project manager for this!

    Everything everyone says is true...pvp and pve are different because of diminishing returns. However I do feel that the truly good builders (that build with dr in mind) do not get enough credit. There are pvp energy aura toons that function better than other energy aura pvp toons. This is probably because they use the slots that get hit by dr to boost other area. Possibly there is a sweet spot defensive percentage for the accuracy peeps build for, I don't know but look at building on test and check the diff before and after entering a pvp zone.
  7. When I fought a plant troller carrion creepers while confused made it much harder to target (I am tab targeter). In fact every time I would get confused I would just high tail it out of there and reset attack

    Sleet is pretty boss in the mako patron pool.
  8. Sentry if you go more in depth on slotting sprint it would really be helpful. I did some tests trying to figure out how to cap movement speed in rv and sprint really helped. Although I am not confident...

    The basic response for slotting travel is 2 ho's and a kb pro for toons that need to hit 41 protection. My tests surprisingly showed me that using sprint really makes a difference, although putting runspeed into it did not improve because it caps with basic slotting and sprint on. I also have not been able to cap runspeed with stealth on. As for jump you can cap x axis easy but you can 6 slot sj and not hit verticle cap. There is a lot of info out there, some use sprint some don't, some 4-5 slot movement etc. Also movement ho's are pricey so I was not able to test with them.

    My test process was taking kin in rv and seeing exact numbers for capped movement then trying to reach those on other toons. Your expertise would be much appreciated. I forgot to test kin with stealth on...drat!
  9. Dev zillwig has done arena matches on a grav/ta and grav/poisen. IMO it is a hard balancing act for the devs to make all types effective because there are so many variables in PvP. I think incarnates are a way to help second tier builds compete. TS is a joke, it is a governor on a good engine and has totally gutted one of the best power sets in kinetics for PvP. I don't think the devs like ts, it is for the melee types that use ninja run and fly in zones...

    I hope this engine comes back in some other form with pvp as main component. For those of you not around in early days of PvP it was just an awesome chaotic experience.
  10. Hi all,

    I stripped my fire/fire scrap and really miss him. I like the idea of a ranged scrapper and have been doing it for a long time. I got a little fed up with him because I run into build problems and really want to keep the concept of Fire/Fire/Fire. This is the best I can come up with. A major reason I took fireball is because I already have 5 of the pvp io's. The only enhancements I don't have in this build are the atos/hetas/hammis (I do have the heta proc tho) I am worried about my accuracy and base hit points. I do plan on taking rebirth +max hit points and I hope that allows me to build for other things. Also my shield breaker +rec is over the rule of 5.

    Feedback and fixes please. If to have a better toon I need to go another epic or patron route please let me know.

  11. When you say players will be chosen randomly does that mean a player can use any toon? Just figured if that's the case the player base may want to make sure they have both damage and support ready to fit team needs.

    My personal prefrence on incarnates is none except alpha. I don't mind playing with all but lore though.

  13. Just want to say that I am a huge fan of fire armor for PvP, but that's not saying it is good. The problem is tough, phase and most of the time tactics is needed... If you leave tactics out you have to take FA for the perception. If you take Foccused accuracy you miss out on the fire epic which can be your main offense because of fiery embrace. Add that dilemma to the lack of hp boosts and IMO it is tough to build. I know I did not answer your question but IMO 2600 hp on tank is low.

    Granted the only PvP fire armors I have are brute and scrap. GL though and if it works let me know how you did it.

    Can you elaborate on your experience a little. Do you even use tarpatch for PvP? I imagine something like Howling Twilight>tarpatch>Spectral wounds>heal>blind (all pets move in and kill). Does it work something like that?

    Have you ever dueled it in arena?

    Maybe the next form of competitive league in COH should be using toons that free accounts can play, IE no Invention Enhancements, No incarnates.

    I would push to forbid the high kb range powers because no kb prot is kiss of death but I think that kind of league may be better attended than the uber league.

    Short answer before I13. I miss resistance tied to armors and no heal decay, travel sup. Travel suppression is a spit in the face of every kinetics ever made... I don't mind the new mez rules.

    Honestly, I just wish they would take the engine and make new PvP game. The engine is so versatile with the procs and ability to add effects to existing powers. Lots of potential.
  23. Doms do great damage.

    Slot hold for hold duration, or have a way to plant someone in order to sleet them (from ice epic pool) then use fiery embrace and destroy faces.

    PB does more than boost the -to-hit.
    Because of the way Power Boost works, it will also boost many of the -specials within Weaken. Things like the effective negative heal, run speed, and jump height enhancements are all boosted by power boost.
