What type of rules? (map, time/stock, HD/No HD, TS/No TS, lore/No lore, alpha only, no incarnate, insp/No insp)

The lottery system seems like a good idea, but that's coming from someone who doesn't mind losing.

No not tomorrow. Be around the end of May sometime probably. This will be on freedom and I will connect with some of the regular pvpers and come up with the details fo this possible tournie. This is a post to see if there would be interest atm.

The 3v3 is a good idea, doing it on a sunday is a good idea... end of may is also a good idea. the lottery tournament is a terrible idea. Most the people who this kind of thing would attract, including myself would much rather prefer teaming with their friends then randoms... it is just a game after all. Who cares if the teams are stacked if you're having fun.

Lethal lotteries have been one of the more popular pvp events that I've seen hosted.
If you don't do random partners switched between rounds you might want to limit specific ats or power sets.
Id be happy to donate some funds for this, how about 500mill. If you get a few more donations you should have a pretty nice prize pool. If you want me to try to contact one of the community reps for swag id be happy to, or you can by pming them, describing your idea and what prizes you are requesting.
I don't know. There's not really enough people (vets, good PvPers, however you want to put it) left hanging around to have a decent pre-made 3v3 type deal, lottery sounds like a better route to go right now. Otherwise you will just have a few stacked teams fighting a bunch of crappy teams, which would make this event a lot less fun imo.
My understanding is these lottery events usually generate a decent crowd, so I think overall that's the way to go for sure.
In terms of rules, the only thing you are going to need to be careful about is incarnates. Might be interesting to let in a bit more then alpha this go round, but you will want to probably pick and choose a bit. Obviously no lore, and I hear incandescence in arena is pretty stupid, so you may want to consider that also.
That's coming from somebody who hasn't done much arena in a while, obviously, so I don't know where people are at with incarnates these days. I think it's worth a try to fit a bit more in then alpha for a 3v3 lottery, though. Just my personal opinion.

Looks like I have about 2bill inf donated so far for prizes and I am going to be contacting Zwillinger to see if we can get anything from dev side.
For this first tournie I am going to stick with lottery system but I will host a variety of diff tournies in the future. All player names will be thrown into a hat and randomly be put on teams for this tournie. Once you are on a team you will stay on that team through out the whole tournie and every team will play atleast 2 matches due to double elimination. Please post any concerns and comments you would like to communicate before I post tournie sign up thread early/mid May.
Please post what powers and incarnates you would prefer to not have in this tournie:

When you say players will be chosen randomly does that mean a player can use any toon? Just figured if that's the case the player base may want to make sure they have both damage and support ready to fit team needs.
My personal prefrence on incarnates is none except alpha. I don't mind playing with all but lore though.

Not saying this how Dio will set it up, but in the past usually you would have everyone sign up on one character.
Teams were randomly drawn each round. So yes you could end up with all damage or all support. Each player had their own wins/losses record and by the end of the 3-5th round the top xxxx players would move to finals.
I've run it where in the finals teams were static, but I think others have run it where you still do random teams.
Well we could have ppl sign up by global and then after teams are picked by globals the 3 could work out who brings what AT. But then they would have to stick with that toon the whole tournie. Or we could have ppl sign up a toon and have to play that the whole tournie. Either way is fine with me. We can let players vote on this aspect of the tournie.

I probably wouldn't participate in something like this, but if you guys ever want a chance at bringing some new blood into arena, this is the kind of thing that needs to happen. Probably a more fun way to do it with the current demographic anyways.

Oh man, I'm just remembering some hilarious duos I was in over the years...emp paring with Girl Sixx or Bubbler/Stalker with Void on Champion and so on...but yeah, you definitely need some prep for this...try using random.org for starters for the pairings and you'll need to have people be with different partners every round...end of X rounds the top point-getters face off in the final!
This seems like a blast, I'd definitely help out as needed.
P.S. Signing up one toon is probably preferable for this.

What you could do is have people initially sign up in teams to control the spread of toons then randomize teams by one pool of team functions at a time. Say each team should have one damage toon, one control toon, then one non-control support toon. (or whatever three pools of function assignment would be agreeable) That would allow you to create random teams of three every time without ever getting a doubling of function unless one team doesn't make it. In which case some people might have to get skipped in a few rounds, but you don't have to sit out whole teams for a whole night because of absenteeism.
I am thinking about hosting my firt PvP tournie. I thought it would be fun to make it a lottery tournie so that teams would not be stacked with only good players and we might have some variety. Sunday would be the best day for me to host this and if it is a success then I would be open to more in the future. I would like this to be a free event with no entry fee and I am looking for some people to help with prizes for the winners.
