Saw these two persons in Cap!

Kevin

Richard

Can't see anything in those tiny pictures you posted, but if you are referring to female NPC's with male names that's old news. I saw them first in King's Row 7 years ago when I female NPC named Anthony.

Haha, yeh - Kevin and Richard. Not seen it in 5-6years of playing so it is news to me - very P.C.

For some reason the link will not connect either.

edit - linky works for large pic (if you really must ).

You "would" what to a digital avatar ?

Possibly a bug, or possibly a quirk of how they datamined the names way back when.

No issue, just an observation and comment on such.

Most likely user error. Of someone filling out the 2000 US census form.

My understanding is that for the generic NPCs you see walking around they just stripped first names from the 2000 census. So every time you see a weird spelling or unusual name it's a name someone in the US claimed to have.

As I recall from one of the last time this came up, the CoH draws the names of the citizens from actual census data meaning it's because there are actual women named Richard. You can see the popularity of the name for both men and women here.

There is a very nice lady I know named Man. She was born in Korea, so it is just one of those things on how words in English and other languages relate.

I have always been bemused by the thought of French visitors wondering why stores in the US proudly proclaim "DIRTY!" in banners and ads on a regular basis.

(The French word for "dirty" is "sale" )

Some people give their children some interesting names. Johnny Cash could tell you all about being a Boy Named Sue.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

I would not be a bit surprised to learn that the English word "sale" was actually based on the French word in this case. Typically stores usually only put things on sale that are somehow less than good or "dirty" in some way.

Yes, they were 2000 census names. It's also possible to have been for an individual who was in the process of transitioning. Or as other folks mentioned, just been an atypical name.
