Someone took Melancholia! I also really wanted "Cleric," but I'm not surprised I didn't get it, I didn't reserve names until a couple days ago.

Just a FYI, you can go a slash command to find players global names who have a specific character name.

/getglobalname <character name>

Just don't be surprised when you see someone you know took your name, Exalted has been a name griefing server for the more popular names of your server.

Many people took other people's names just to be *******, you can try to get them back from them, just expect to pay billions of influence for it.

The only name I really wanted was "Shade". I haven't got/won't pay inf, but will bake you a cake if you release it to me.

Slazenger, would have been nice, but seems it was taking by a fellow player on my server as a parting gift, he has not been on for a while now and may not ever come back.
But hey on the brightside I was only planning to visit Exalted over the events period, so no big loss, and have warned mates if they receive grief by my namesake to log entries and I would personally go to support with them.

I missed out on Willow... I would really love to have had that one. (I wanted to make a CoH version of one of my tabletop Exalted RPG characters with that name...)

Fallen Angel -was the name I had, and when I released the toon holding the name to recreate the toon, I found that the name was taken in a matter of 2 minutes.

I would like to get it back. It took me 20 minutes to pull that name on day 1, with all the lag Exalted was experiencing.

/getglobalname says 'Fallen Angel' is being held by a trial account, on Exalted, which I thought trials were done away with a couple weeks ago, so that make no sense to me.

In any event, if I get it, sweet, if not, -shrug- it's not the end of the world.

Really? Bribing and extortion? Good Lord. While I agree it's horrible to deliberately grab a name that somebody had hoped to get, it's perfectly legit. No one single player owns the rights to certain names on every server; it's first come first serve. If a player wants to free up a name in exchange for some influence that's no different than you and I trading inspirations and unless the ToS specifically makes doing such a violation, it too is legit.

If the person that took my name is holding it at Ransom and expecting payment, I'm sorry but you just wasted a character slot for no reason, the only reason I would want my name on Exalted would be so I could transfer my main toon there later, which again i'm sorry is not going to happen. I have no wish to join a server full of people that have snatched popular players names in attempt to become popular themselves, so I will leave the fake server to the fake players.

The person who has Carnifax has contacted me and seems happy to release it for me without issue. Only problem is getting a time both of us are on. There's been no talk of payments or any such silliness, I think they just liked the sound of the name but aren't overly attached to it and are happy to free it up.

Hopefully later on they'll be around and about and we can get it done.

LOL no I won't, I know exactly who took my name, reason why is unclear, but they play on the same server as me. Will I team with them now, I think not.

In my eye's, I wouldn't mind a thread that exposed these people, again a rule is created as to not name and shame, yet the only people that benefit from that rule is the ones that should be named and shamed.

At least then I would be able to avoid teaming up with any other name snatchers that thinks it cool to take on someone's else 's reputation without having to earn it themselves.

I would rather play with the real Mccoy rather than a fake dude that thinks the name holds the answer to all their prays.
If I read a Batman comic and It wasn't Bruce Wayne in the suit and no real good reason for him not to be then it's not real Batman.

I wouldn't mind playing with the likes of Zombie man, Arcanaville and a few others, would I go to Exalted to do that? nope I'm not going to now, I would rather take a visit to their home servers.
Exalted had the potential to be really good, but a few people decided to play idiots and have spoilt it, so I think i'm better off playing with the new F2P players and hope a better class of people shine through.

One thing I would say is try contacting that person who has your name first.

Obviously you can use /getglobalname (the name you wanted).

I was GRRR at first when someone else had Masque but I found out later it was someone on my server who had saved it for me.

I also in return saved a bunch of names for people that I knew who weren't on late that night when the servers came back up.
