I'm going to miss seeing you around!
One thing I really regret is not getting to know many people in the game.
-
Quote:It's just personal preference. I prefer support and control sets where I really feel like I'm having an impact and neither ill/ nor /rad do that for me even though I know they're both very good. Blasting doesn't suit my playstyle as a controller. If you are standing around letting the pets and toggles do everything, then you aren't using the build to its best. Strategically using the single target damage with an attack chain will let an Ill/Rad be far more effective. I am very active when playing my Ill/Rad, taking out minions and Lts, choosing my next anchor in case my current one gets killed, moving to try to direct Phanty. If everything else is handled, applying the attack chain to the remaining tough targets will add to the damage and get you on to the next group.
There's certainly nothing wrong with preferring Ill/Cold, but I don't see why playing an Ill/Rad would be boring. -
I'll probably be shut down for this but I found Ill/Rad so boring to play. Your toggles and pets do all the work for you. I'll throw another vote to Cold.
-
Nature's biggest assets are its heals over time and you've barely slotted either of them - I would 5 slot both Regrowth and Wild Bastion. You can perma WB (Mids says the duration is 10 seconds, but the shield actually lasts for 60) and heal enhancements boost the absorb, so effectively you'll have about 500 extra hp at all times. Not in mids atm so I can't make a build for you but you could obviously lose some slots from boxing.
Lifegiving Spores: if you put certain procs in this, they affect everyone. I recommend a Performance Shifter +end (since the heal is very small, aiming for end is better) and a Panacea if you can afford it. -
Energy Blast's biggest asset (IMO of course - but energy is my main blast set) is that it can do double AoE KD if you hoverblast. I would, yeah, never make an energy toon without taking both of them. Drop the T2 blast if you have to.
-
My only Rad is an ill/ troller but I don't think I would want to play it with water, because both sets require a bit of setup...most of the group would probably be dead by the time you get your toggles on and your tidal stacks up. I'm playing a nature/water atm and even with two toggles I find that I don't get to use my water powers very much so it would be worse with three. Sonic is a great idea IMO, I imagine Whirlpool and Liquefy would have amazing synergy.
-
Quote:It's a really active set because you have to juggle Tidal Power stacks so I would recommend a shield secondary that will give you more time to blast. Sonic might be nice because then you'd be putting out AoE -def and -res. I have a Thermal/Water that was a lot of fun to play. FF is a great combo with water, although then you'd have to make it a defender, but Repulsion Bomb + Geyser + Water Burst + a KD proc in Whirlpool means that mobs will almost never be on their feet.I think I'm going to finally cave and get Water Blast, but I'm not sure what to pair with it. Are there any outstanding synergies I should be aware of? It seems like a pretty balanced set. I'd love to pair it with Nature Affinity but I'd rather not spend the additional 800 points >.>
-
Quote:I was aiming to perma Wild Growth and slot it for resist but I'm thinking of going for +heal instead, even slotted, 20% resist isn't that good. How are you guys/gals going to slot Wild Growth? I honestly can't decide if I should go 3 resist/3 heal or 3 recharge/3 resist. Unless Mids is wrong, Wild Bastion doesn't get increases to Absorption with slotted heals - only the HOT seems to be affected.
But I do think Mids is wrong and that that absorb in WB does increase with heal enhancements, but it's a new mechanic (as far as I know), absorb depends on the targets HP, so maybe that's not in the program yet. I did test +heal in the Sorcery absorb and it worked there. -
I would rather kill myself than do MoKeyes but I'm down for MoM, @RadiantDawn. And you can't heal AB last time I checked (that was a few months ago).
-
I can't wait for this set. I play primarily support and this looks like a very defensive but impactful set which is just up my alley.
What powers are you all planning on skipping? Entangling Aura doesn't look like it will fit my playstyle so if I take it it'll just be as a set mule. Lifegiving Spores doesn't look too amazing but I didn't get far enough on beta to test it. -
Quote:Now that's just not true. An AOE autohit -tohit debuff that can easily be enhanced to -30% and is up for every fight - that's nothing to scoff at. And you can keep a hard target permanently at -60% damage. Wild Bastion is an underwhelming +res buff, but it's easy to perma and can give about +200% regeneration at all times. With proper slotting and bonuses, Overgrowth doesn't have that much downtime and that's +82.5% damage to your team. It's quite a good buffing set, there are many worse support sets and I would put it on the same level as thermal actually.NA brings nothing but green number spam and mediocre buffs on long cooldowns to a team. Make it a concept toon if you plan on keeping it. Your concept will dictate the archetype.
If you're looking for something that plays like nature without being bad, roll thermal instead. If you're looking for something that solos well, brute.
If you're banking on nature being buffed eventually, I'd lean toward nature/rad defender if you can't do IOs, rad/nature corruptor if you can. Defender's in a better position to shut down enemies with -tohit, +defense, and +resist powers without IOs. Corruptor makes up the difference with IOs plus gets crits and no teaming penalty. -
Quote:I personally wouldn't play Nature as a secondary (unless it was on a controller). It's one of those jack of all trades, master of none sets so I think the values would be too low for my tastes as a secondary set.For thematic reasons I have already decided to make a Nature/Water Blast on Guardian and have already reserved the name. I just need to decide if I want defender or a corrupter and which will give a greater level of enjoyment.
For those who have tried the set on beta, which one would you recommend and why?
But on that note, Water Blast's damage is pretty bad on defenders. It depends what you want to get out of the toon. I'm planning on making a nature/water defender as wellbecause for me it's all about the support and utility.

Finishing up my Ice/Emp controller (just got t4 alpha and destiny today
) who is a blast to play, I know everyone thinks heals are bad but this build really noticably changes the tide of battle very often and makes things run very smoothly.
I feel like my build isn't as good as it could be, though. Even with T4 Vigor my heals are a lot weaker than other people's, maybe because I didn't take Power Boost (ice is necessary for concept) but even so I would like to beef them up if possible. I also don't feel especially useful vs AVs and have to simply take comfort in the fact that I'm boosting my team's damage. That might just be a weakness of ice/emp but I'd like to remedy it if possible. I don't care about my horrible ST damage because I never solo and would rather do moderate aoe damage instead.
I wouldn't mind losing the second slots in health and stamina, I just threw those in because I didn't know where else to put them, or the third slots in stealth and maneuvers (could even ditch maneuvers altogether but I'd lose a lot of recharge). I would also be willing to lose Regen Aura, Flash Freeze, Frozen Armor, Clear Mind and Arctic Air.
My primary goal is perma-hasten, then I aimed for some ranged def, though not a lot because I barely ever get aggro and have hibernate for emergencies. I also aimed for +hp although I don't think I could hit the cap without losing a ton of recharge. I'm really trying to make this the ultimate team support toon with a little survivability thrown in to make sure I live long enough to support in the first place

I was aiming for around 30% M/R/AoE defense though I ended up with more ranged than I was expecting - just want to stay in that range so I can softcap myself with a small purple. I took Leviathan for theme but I could work with most of the APPs so it doesn't really matter.
I figured most people would say skipping Thaw was a bad idea but my main is a Sonic/ and I literally never use Clarity, I can always respec into it if I feel I need it (don't need Stealth that badly). -
Getting close to 50 on my water blaster and looking for some tips to finalize my build
Survivability and support are my top concerns, utility second, and damage third. I went for more rounded defense rather than softcapping just range. APP is Leviathan but I'm open to others if you feel they will help me more.
Oh, and I have Overwhelming Force slotted in Steam Spray but it never shows up when I look at the build for whatever reason:

Quote:The problem with a 40% res debuff is that Sonic would become basically useless. The res debuffs are what set it apart from FF IMO.I think adding a debuff to Repulsion Bomb is a fine idea. I love Force Field, but it certainly would not be out of line for RB to crack armors. I'd line it up at -20% res with a 35 second duration. You'd be able to stack it twice with some investment for -40% (the end burn would by pretty high, and the animation time cost is horrendous).

I rarely see this combination in game and nothing really relevant came up in searches so I thought I'd post my build. My main goals are recovery and survivability (i.e. ranged defense) Big questions/caveats:
- Sonic Dispersion slotting?
- I've got Dominate slotted for damage but I'm not sure if I'd be better off with a longer hold; I like having a third damage type but there's not much that resists both energy and smashing
- The shields could use more slots but I'm not sure what to get rid of; also, am I using the best 2-slot set?
- I don't have a ton of recharge but that's on purpose, my only long-recharge power is Liquefy so I didn't want to build around just that

This is such a cute idea!
-
I've been away from the game for a long time and I've also never played a tank before so I could use some advice. Some caveats and questions:
- I know spring attack is probably not the best power choice but it's there for theme; same with the fire sword powers
- this isn't a leveling build - it's just ordered this way so I could get the slots right
- does the taunt set even work in Combustion or is that a mids mistake?
- do DoTs apply gauntlet with each tick?

I've never played a Storm past like level 10 so I'm not sure what the playstyle's like and what would compliment it. Any ideas? I'd probably prefer to play a defender, just so I could focus on Storm and really learn the set, but I'm not opposed to a controller as that's my favorite AT.
I was thinking one of these:
Ice control
Earth control
Plant control
Ice blast
Electric blast

Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to finalize my ice/emp build and I think it looks pretty good, but you guys always know better than I do
My main goal was perma-hasten, secondary goal is ranged defense, though I couldn't find a way to hit the softcap.
I'd like most of the powers to stay the same, but I wouldn't mind ditching Jack Frost or Teleport if you find better uses for those slots.

The -kb in Frostbite only lasts about 12 seconds, while the immob duration is double that. You can use FB and ice slick at the same time if you're smart about it.

I'm having a blast with my ice/emp troller. Pitiful damage, but the control is awesome, and it's a very active set on large teams. If you'd rather play a lazier set then you can go with FF or sonic, which are always appreciated but not too demanding to play (in fact I think sonic is really boring). FF is my favorite powerset and if you pair it with a good secondary - I usually go with energy blast for mitigation via knockback - it's awesome support. It's not too useful in endgame content, though, so my FF/nrg is retired.
If you want an unusual type of support you could try storm? I could never get into it because it's too aggressive for my taste, but I love having (good) storms on my team.
If your playstyle is active, go with Mind/Kin. That's the clickiest toon I've ever played, although kin doesn't feel "supporty" enough to me, but it was a blast to play. Mind/FF is just about the safest character you could ever make, with all the aggro-free control and defense buffs, and while FF is a lazy set, Mind is very clicky so you'll never be bored. Mind/Emp is fun too if you like to play surgically and carefully. -
I really like the idea of sonic, res buffs and debuffs - even if they could be higher - are always helpful. The thing is, it's such a boring set to play because it doesn't offer anything else. It would be nice if they made it more of a grab bag set, like Thermal.
