Improvement for Crafting
Dig
As a person that saves 99% of ALL the invention salvage they ever pick up, I'd love to see this.
@Leetdeth - Virtue | MA Arcs(all challenge arcs): Big Magic Blowout! #369774 | Who Really Cares About This? Z! #509577 | That Meddling King! (teams recommended) #21450
I will love you forever.
Love this idea.
There is the conceptual problem of using salvage that is actually in a vault across the city rather than on your person, but short of invoking Hammerspace there's already the conceptual problem of your character carrying 2 Diamonds, 10 bars each of Gold and Iron, and a couple dozen other trinkets.

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
I'd rather they work on streamlining the salvage system first. Things like being able to search for all the salvage you need for the recipes on hand with the hit of a button would be far more useful to me personally. I also think the portable crafting table needs to be WAAAYYYY more accessible. There is a reason people are currently willing to pay excessive amounts for crafted IO's, getting the stuff together and crafting them is a PITA when done for more than 1-2 at a time.
I do agree with you on personal storage, though not base storage.
Now that is a good idea

Oh, and with the ability to search for all the salvage you need on hand I'd love it if it told you how much of each you needed. Hate having to go back and buy 1-3 more salvage pieces because I didn't spend 3 minutes comparing recipes.

5 Alchemical Silver
1 Black Blood of the Earth
8 Masterwork Weapon
1 Mu Vestment
1 Rune
That way, when you go to the auction house, you know to buy exactly that many items in order to complete all the recipes you currently have on hand?
Bravo for the OP! Great suggestion.
It would also be great to have a master SG salvage inventory list/menu that could be called up at the same time.

The only thing better than what has been suggested in this thread would be account wide storage (Damn it, I KNOW I have that Mu Vestament on some character, and it's going to tick me off to pay 2 mil for it so I can get it now).
Sorry for the double post but I've been thinking about this and wanted to make sure I was understanding... are you basically wanting an update to the auction house that would, for example, tell you if you have 5 recipes on you, it will look at the necessary components for all those recipes and then, after deducting the salvage you have on hand, compile a shopping list that looks sort of like:

Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
I really like this idea, and would just love to have account wide storage (even if its just limited to say, 100 salvage pieces over all your characters, or if each alt only adds 10 salvage to it, something like that)

We already have the mechanics built in though. When you go to sell something it tells you if you need it in a recipe. This would just be building offa that. Essentially running that check on all salvage and recipes and then shooting you back the results. Provided you've sold/trashed the junk recipes it would be incredibly useful.

1. Put the recipe on the market.
2. Hit Find.
3. When it comes up in the window above, notice the words" Find all salvage for this recipe" (paraphrasing) directly under the bids listing.
4. Click it, it's a link. All the salvage you need for the recipe you put in the stored area in step 1 will appear.
Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!
What I'd really like to do is be able to craft stacks of things. I've got four damage recipes, with enough salvage to craft them all, with enough enhancement space to hold all the resulting IOs...please give me a "craft all" button.
Of course, please don't put the "craft all" button immediately next to the "craft" button because misclicks happen and you want your interfaces to be user friendly. (Of course, the last several interfaces that have been designed for the game have been ultimately user unfriendly, sooooo... sorta not holding out hope.)

Freedom already has a lot of qol improvements for crafting (/ah, increased storage (as long as you have access to them or willing to pay for them of course)) and it doesn't look like there will be any base improvements coming.
The craft all button is a great idea especially since we will be able to hold up to 30 enhancements at a time.
You can already do the bolded, pretty sure since the market existed.

Whereas if I could use the current coding to grab a list from my inventory with numbers, and I could just go down the list, it would make the whole process 10 times faster.

That would be so much better. No more micro-managing up to 18 racks per base plus personal and vault storage per character.
I'd pay for that.

There are usually two sides to every argument but no end.
Everything placed above this line is always IMHO, YMMV and quite certainly not to be taken too seriously....

I miss Lexx.
I would like to recommend two possible upgrades for the crafting process. The first is probably very easy to put into effect, the latter not so much but I think these would be great QOL improvements.
First, when crafting, there should be an option (like a checkbox in the interfact) that allows us to search and use our stored salvage, not just the salvage on hand.
The second options would be applicable for supergroups, but like with trade crafting in EQ, you could use salvage items stored at your base -- as long as you have access to the specific storage racks they come from -- for crafting as well. You could also require the player to actually be crafting in the superbase for this to be viable (so no crafting in the university or on portable workbench).
Ideally, the crafting system would consume salvage from on-hand salvage first, then personal storage, then supergroup salvage.
