I'm personally indifferent on the Barbarian pack (Though I do agree that the thigh high stilettos on the female costume look rather silly and would be better replaced with regular boots) and look forward to the Haunted House and the signature story arc (Though if I must nitpick, the organization is called the Midnight Squad. The Midnight Club is just their hideout). Both of those look like a lot of fun! I wonder if the skull is supposed to be important because it will be the skull of the member of the Surviving Eight, sent back in time somehow to bring up the question of whose skull it is. In addition, I had a lot of fun with the Praetorian Invasion when it last occurred so I'm looking forward to the next one, especially seeing how it ties into First Ward, which I am also strongly looking forward to.

I do hope that the Devs realize that they shouldn't take the biggest purchases from beta at face value. In particular, I suspect the reason why Enhancement Boosters were so popular is because a lot of people wanted to see if they really would make much of a difference. Though I suspect a lot of the most popular purchases will be similar (I'm seeing Beam Rifle and the Rocket Board selling like hotcakes), people will experiment less when their real money is on the line. Considering the Boosters don't make quite as much of a difference as one would think, I suspect that they won't be quite as popular on Live.

Finally, did anyone actually get a picture of Lord Recluse at this panel? I'd definitely like to see what he looked like.

As it's Numina holding it, and the Midnighters are invovled, it's very likely to be the skull of her father, Tommy, which is currently lying on the front desk of the club.

Hm, that's true. I actually forgot about that possibility. I wonder what part his skull would play in this if that's true...

Wait ... why's it stupid for censoring a word that can be used as a relatively derogatory term? I know it's not generally used that way much anymore but it's still not a very nice thing to call someone.

New stuff, is new stuff. It all goes into the giant Creator grab-bag and comes out as something new. Kinda hard to see the female barbarian costume (for me at least) since whoever made it decided to colour it the same as the skin. I welcome any and all new options. Maybe I might find some new pieces to add to my Native American costume (which might fit the barbarian bill, I dunno, you guys are a little psycho on the topic).

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

For what it's worth, I thought the same thing. Surprisingly enough, it also censors the word *******, although I'm clearly referring to the city in Austria.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

One image is the concept art. The other is the final product. I don't remember which is which. Sorry.

It's the one on the left. I can tell because, sadly it's using some already existing art pieces, reducing the work needed to make it.
The skirt's from the Halloween event Nightmares as well as the skin textures of nightmares and soulless husks.
The concept art shows the Abomination is a much more shambling looking stride and stand while the model on the left is in a much more neutral stance that's default to the humanoid skeletal frame standard in city of.

As a random comment: his head gear and obviously taller than human size reminds me of Razah from Guild Wars.

Additional observation notes: The apparent electrode buds on the stumps of his hands and on his head, combine with his apparent Frankenstein creation suggests he will use electrical attacks, likely in combination with super strength.
I hope you folks have energy and end drain resistances.

I've heard it used far more often to refer to either the sword, or to a task being difficult. And anyone who wishes to be actually insulting can just insert an asterisk or use far more insulting terms that the software won't recognize. It's the mods and board culture that keep us from hurling nasty insults at each other, not easily fooled software.

If anyone ever comes up with an effective context-sensitive censor then they clearly deserve to be a fairly rich person. They probably won't be, but dangit they'll deserve to be.

Oddly, outside of fantasy gaming I barely ever hear it used for either of those things. Usually hear it used as an insult or to refer to something being a weird amalgam of two other things.

That said, I'm not saying these boards don't go a little overboard on censoring things. More that knowing it is touchy it makes sense sense to me that they'd censor it. Give it a while and it'll probably drop off these type of censors though. Currently it's a pretty decent second-string insult, but the general perceived severity of it as one seems to be markedly decreasing in recent years (likely due to increased use of a lot of the alternate definitions for the word).

It takes 20 to craft anything useful. 10 threads are useless. FOUR from an Astral, which we were originally talking about despite your silly change of subject, is even WORSE.

The 4x merits is still a better.

I don't have an issue with the Barbarian stuff. I'd like it a little different but I really think part of the problem with the woman's gear is that they made her (and the clothes) blue which gave the ice/Santa vibe. If it was brown and tan or gray, it'd look different.

Leather 'armor' skirts would be nice except we already have several with the Roman armor set. The multi-panel fur trimmed skirt is more unique. Now if you hand around a petition to make the Roman armor a global unlock or something, I'll be the first to sign it.

The boots are silly from a "barbarian" thing (them using high heels didn't help) but lower fur lined boots would just be either the Santa boots or the Rough Leather using the pattern. Again, nothing we don't already have.

Astrals are used much more then just converting to threads. You can roll random recipes (like reward merits) you can get costumes, and you can get specific recipes, Plus i think you can roll random t4 inspirations.

10 more threads a day means that after 2 days, you can craft 3 components, instead of 2. thats a 50% increase....

Plus thats not considering your earning shards doing said arcs, which you can convert into threads for free now...

Or I can go for the 4x merits rewards and run a shard tf or sister psyche next.

For my toons that already have tier 3s yeah, I know which I'm going for.

And after 2 days you can only do that if you go and run something that gives you 10 more threads . . . which isn't going to be a signature story arc cause . .. it can't be.

YMMV.

Obviously there are differing on opinions on what is or isn't useful.

EDIT: And none of your comments address the ONE ASTRAL, which is FOUR threads. Using merits is faster to get recipes than it is for astrals. Reward merits drop in MANY more places than Astrals. I would NEVER use Astrals to get something that is stupendoulsy easy to get using Reward Merits or Alignment merits.

The most I've gotten running regular content is 3 shards an hour. Even with the drop rate increase. Shards are sure as hell not something I rely on for anything but the Alpha slot.

The costume/aura pieces and the t4 inspirations. You can get those ONLY via astrals. Yes the Alignment merits or rewards merits are faster for recipes and such, but they don't share the same timers that Astrals do, allowing you to earn things in addition to Alignment and reward merits (atleast last i checked they didn't share the time timers..)

I think you know what I think of the costumes locked behind the Incarnate system.

I MIGHT have a different opinion if we were talking about getting multiple astrals.

We're talking about ONE.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I'll bet money now that the rewards just might be increased when the actual arcs are in BETA.

I don't hugely disagree, but since they allowed us to downgrade Uncommon iTrial salvage into Common salvage, I never spend Astral Merits to make threads any more. I don't have to, because I run tons of iTrials looking for Rare and Very Rare salvage. Running tons of trials now means I get tons of Common drops (or Uncommon drops I can convert) along the way. (Turning Astral Merits into Threads can be worth it early on, when you don't have anything and you first unlock a new Incarnate slot. All my characters had big banks of Shards they converted in to Threads, so I didn't even had to do that.)

My most recent "finished" incarnate has four crafted Very Rare and one more Rare ability, and about 360 Astral Merits. I plan to turn most of those into recipes, because I have no other good use (that's important to me) for them.

Blue
American Steele: 50 BS/Inv
Nightfall: 50 DDD
Sable Slayer: 50 DM/Rgn

Twilit Destiny: 43 MA/DA
Red
Shadowslip: 50 DDC
Final Rest: 50 MA/Rgn

It says 4x reward merits. The comment made was that for an example, if the first arc awards 20 reward merits, then once per week it will award 80 merits.

Note that the award choice is only offered once per week per character; you can't run it and choose merits, then run it and choose an astral, then run it and choose threads. You run it and choose, then any other times you run it, you don't get the award choice window.

The Abomination on the right is the concept art. The Abomination on the left is the in-game model.
