More Server downtime?!?

They are doing upgrades for the upcoming launch of Freedom. They want to make sure everthing is ready so they won't have to take the servers down.

I'm sure you're just venting. But you do realize that they're gearing up for what they expect to be a considerable increase to the population once the game goes free to play (hence all the beta server stress testing).
The announcement said that they're upgrading hardware for all the live servers. Any normal Thursday, the servers would be back up around 10am Eastern. This had to happen eventually.

Do people expect there to be little to no maintenance? They are obviously going to pick off peak hours and that is pretty much going to be in the morning. Personally I hope the servers get a MAJOR upgrade.. I wouldnt care if it took a whole day. Im tired of laggin, getting disconnected and having to play at the lowest setting possible.. I used to least be able to play on Performance..

the last few patches to live have made somewhat considerable improvements to lag in some portions (namely ITF lag valley and BAF)
on beta they are doing even more stress testing to make improvements to lag (zwillinger said they spawned like 6000 dummy bots and had up to almost 51 atlas park instances spawned and the only time they had a LOT of lag/mapservers was when all 6000 dummies did a chat spam)
as a heavy gamer, lag is the enemy and it is the most evil foul thing i can imagine (aside from not having internet) lol

You're right; it's not a surprise at all. We're coming up on what is certainly the biggest change to the game since CoV was added, possibly the biggest change ever. There's a big hardware upgrade to get everything ready so, yeah, extra downtime is expected.|

And of course, after getting on with my day I come back to finish the last of my missions in order to get my morality mission and what happens? Surprise! Even more server down time!!! I didn't like that there was a 5 hour shutdown especially since it takes roughly 40 hours to fully change your alignment. I just want to get it over with. But I was patient. And now that I'm almost half way done I get to wait some more. Because of some oversight that screwed something up from the last shutdown. I get they're trying to get things geared up for Freedom but my patience is wearing thin.

I'm hoping they're looking to sort out the problems some of us have been having for a bit where it boots us back to the log in screen quite regularly when loading zones like Brickstown and Atlas. It's really quite annoying, trying to get to Steel and failing six times in a row...

I'm all for the downtime ... as long as there are fully customizable Cat/Kitten models, the height slider drops to 1' tall, and the chest slider can be adjusted a full kilometer to the LEFT!

Well, it is 715 PM EST and the servers are still down. This is BS
They just updated the thread. They're applying a hotfix, but still don't have an estimated time of resolution.
Massive hardware updates rarely go as planned.
