Can I reserve the name Dave?

now where's the fun in that? There should be the usual mad, winner takes all, knock down-drag out fight, for the really COOL names.
Nah, its good enough that a dedicated server is being created for VIP accounts, lets not make this even more contentious than it needs to be.

One thing I noticed which is awesome with the new costume creator - you can choose your name at or near the beginning of character creation, and it will reserve the name for you while you spend your time creating the rest of the character.
What difference would it make? If you let people reserve names in advance, you get the exact same mad dash for names when it first goes up as you would if you make people wait until the server is available. Just earlier.
Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Good news, you can reserve a name while you are making a character. Type the name in the text field and use the Search button and if the name is available it will temporarily reserve it for you!

No one can reserve any names on the VIP server because I have already taken them all.
Now if anyone wants a specific name freed up I can arrange it if you make an alcohol donation to the Church of the Drunken Squirrel.

Is this about the alleged rarity of names again? Because I just grabbed (on VIRTUE no less) Demgoddess for a demon-summoning mastermind. How did I come up with it? Oh, a while ago on some forum, I saw someone misspell "demigoddess" as "demgoddess" and I thought, oh hey, that'd make a good name for a demon summoner.
Cool thing about the reserving feature in the new character creator, though. That'll make costuming less of a rush.

My toons names are important to me, but I have already been told by two players that if I don't move to the VIP that they would take two of my names.
The only issue is that I don't like the idea of the VIP server.

I'm looking forward to the first dingleberry to complain on the forums that there are no names left on the VIP server because free/premium accounts are squatting on all the good names. 
I give it a week maybe two at most after Freedom goes live.
