Beam Gun and Street Justice

The individual attacks are fairly weak, but each attack lands a debuff to increase subsequent damage, making the powerset play something like a ranged Brute.
Hmmm. Sound problematic for a kill-first-or-die Blaster, but it could be good for Corrs & Defs. Sounds like Sonic actually, hopefully with less aggravating sound effects.

Have they officially been announced for Issue 21 though? I know Time Manip is coming with Issue 21 officially, but haven't heard about Beam Rifle/Street Justice/Heavy Weapons coming with that issue yet.

Titan Weapons was mentioned as being something for after i21 right from the get go. Beam Rifle and Street Justice are premium sets, so they have to be bought via $10, or 800 points. VIPs get 400 per month so if you are a VIP when i21/Freedom launches, you will be able to unlock it.

I'm here at comic con and spoke with posi. The sets are on the floor to view and will be in I21, however I was told they will be premium power sets which are not included with the VIP subscription and must be purchased with points. Currently they are 800 points ($10) each. Street justice is has a combo system of sorts. They are also adding a 5th power to all travel sets. And travel powers are available at lvl 4 now.

Tell Posi to make those travel powers at L4 inherent, because we are all out of power choices already.

The 5th tier of the travel powers are pretty nice. Flight gets overdrive which boost flight speed. Teleport gets a zone tp power. SS gets a power that instantly recharges all your powers ( 30 min timer i think) and leaping gets a pbaoe high damage attack.

Oh forgot to mention there was a hover board travel power in the new market interface.

Add my voice to this.

... hell, I think it might be time for a suggestion thread. Opening a debate on this, if it is at all possible, would at least bring it to the dev's attention.

What? How are we running out of power choices? With fitness inherent, we have more powers than ever before.

What we're running out of is powers to choose from. We need more power pools.

This is something that confuses, and rubs me the wrong way....

I will be staying "VIP." I'm wondering if my "free points" will actually be an added luxury for things like packs, respecs, etc. or if I will have to spend them unlocking new stuff like powersets or costumes that under the current model I would be getting in free updates anyways.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Kheldians and VEATS came out, did paying subscribers have to pay extra to play them? What about any other new powersets?

Now, I have no problem keeping my subscription going... It just seems like the "free" model is going to strongarm me into spending more money than I currently am.

I'll remind you that Kinetic Melee, Dual Pistols, and Demon Summoning were not free. You did not get access to them if you did not purchase Going Rogue.

As a VIP member, there will be some free power sets, like Time Manipulation, but there will be some power sets that you will have to buy.

I guess that's true.. But I paid like ten dollars for going rogue, and I also got 1.) A whole new DIMENSION 2.) An entire end game system and 3.) Oh wait! There are some powersets too..? Cool.

And according to an earlier post these new sets cost $10.

If they include a level 1-20 alternate dimension, an alternative to the incarnate end game, and both new powersets.. Well then I guess that's fair. But that doesn't seem to be the case does it?

Going Rogue only cost you 10 dollars because you waited until it was cheap.

These power sets cost 800 points. That's two months. If you save your points for two months, you're not paying any extra to get them. They are, in effect, free.

Are you complaining that you're not getting enough free stuff because they expect you to spend those 400 points a month on new power sets?

You will be spending your points on luxury stuff like new power sets, more enhancement trays, and costume pieces that would have ended up in paid packs like the Steampunk Pack.

There will still be some free costume items for VIP members, and some free power sets, but you can't expect every power set and every costume item to be free, because that's never been the case.

I'm not complaining about not getting enough free stuff-- I just dislike that the free points were being equated to "half a pack," so I could pick up things that are useful to me like ninja run, respecs, and server transfers without forfeiting anything (in game experience or irl money.)

VIP was originally coming across like "everything new will be free for subcribers, the points are an extra bonus for those things you missed." Now it seems that is not the case.

Unless you think they'll release a new premium power set (the name for the power sets that you need to spend points on) about every two months, you'll be able to get the new power sets and have points later to spend on other things.

And you'll get a free server transfer every month, so you don't need to buy those.

You can prioritize your purchases too. Only buy the power sets and costume items that you'll use.

Also to quote you from the other thread, apparently presently second tier pool powers in general like Tough and Aid Self will be available at level 4 too, which will open up builds.

I agree with you TwoHeaded. After being here 6 years or better and having free issues, powersets and costumes and now comes this F2P and having to use "points" or real money kinda don't seem too F2P. I wont spend any real money other than my 15 sub fee.

Being 100% honest, if a new and appealing set comes out that I have to pay for (neither of these appeal to me- Single target sets are obsolete and dual blades are inefficient to me anyways) I will more than likely buy them... But I'll do it grudgingly, and shake my fist at the screen while I type in my credit card number.

It kind of sucks that they are taking away a veteran reward, but it will be nice not having to take punch to get tough.

Indeed....my Scrapper, Brute, Resistance based toons always need Tough, but I never seem to get enough defense bonuses to justify taking Weave...but I take the stupid power anyway.

Lisa rubs hands together and plots....If I drop Weave and use Purple Inspirations as needed, I can drop Kick and replace it with one of the new powers in the Travel sets.

Which opens up the need to take another power to replace Weave, and the new Leaping power sounds yummy fun.

But...hmmm....You must have two powers in the travelset to open up the new one..right?

I always take Combat Jump as I stick Kismet Acc, and Winter's Gift in it...Gads..I might have to take both Fly and SJ..which would be fine as they don't take slots and I can put the slots I would have had in Weave into other powers.

It sounds like a solid plan to me.

Yes, I am going to happily respect every one of my resistance Scrappers and Brutes.

Lisa.

That's exactly the point of the F2P model. I have no doubt that they've got the points and costs calculated to the nth degree, and subscribers will get almost enough 'free' with their subscription to equate to what they got before F2P, but not quite, so as to encourage us to pay more money than we were before the change.

What Vet Reward are they taking away? It sounds like we are entering Freedom with all the Vet rewards we have now.

Sure we will have to use some of our Paragon Points to buy the new power sets, but the company needs money inorder to keep giving us nice things...the present economy is so horrible that they cannot afford to give us everything for free.

Just like in real life, we have to budget...and now that I think about it, for our younger players this might be a good life lesson--learning to budget money is taught in schools, but this is hands on.

If you want something nice, you have to save your monthly stipend.

If you want to buy Paragon Points, instead of buying a snack after work, put that money aside into a little Paragon Points piggy bank. When what you want shows up in the Paragon Market, take your piggy bank to the bank, deposit it, then scramble home and buy your points.

Anyways, I have to get ready for work.

Thanks for allowing me to ramble/brainstorm
lisa.

I was about to apply to this thread to address the inherent advantages of budgeting VIP-monthly Paragon Points, but I believe McCharraigin has offered a succinct example. I'll applaud her economy of words, note my agreement, and add that folks may better apply their concerns about the Paragon Points economy to threads discussing the actual costs of the items such as costume pieces or Exclusive Powersets rather than the fact that they cost anything at all.
