New F2P will basically have the same play experience as we had years ago before most of us experienced the power of ios. They will be in a time capsule when SO and HO were king.

I have loved this game for over 7 years and one of the reasons is the stellar community. For the most part people are very helpful (absent those elitist that live in moms basement) and will go out of the way to help.

I use to follow sewer teams in atlas with an emp or kin to help them on their push through the early lvls. Before the hospital in the hollows people would set up "taxi" service to help out.

With the potential of having a lot of new players it will allow the "true" heroes of paragon to shine again.

    With regards to what new players need to know;
    1) the game is a journey to 50 not a sprint. (so much of the excellent lowerer content is skipped. Looking at you faultline, striga, Croatoa.)

    2) understand ED and know that even though slotting 5 damage SOs and 1 acc sounds good you will lose a bunch of that bonus after 3 SOs.

    3) slot for acc at low lvls if you can't hit them you can't damage them.

    4) you don't need to run all your toggles all the time. Become aware of what enemy does what damage and run that toggle, know what toggle will draw aggro.

    5) as a controller it is not a good idea to open with your group immob

    6) blasters are not tanks!!! ( recommend blaster be played first gives you a good idea how to survive and be aware of your situations)

    7) even heroes run when outnumbered (if your team wipes it's ok to run)

    8) don't be afraid to ask for help, but if you do do it in a polite way.

    News from PAX

I argree with most that the one astral merit a week is a poor reward choice and it should be one emp, but if the reward is one per arc when there are multiple arcs out I could see this as an issue. Imagine once there are multiple arcs out (someone used 7) the I would be able to get 7 hero/villain merits potentially in one day. I get excited just thinking about that.

    We shall see.

If your looking for the easy route to softcap and can wait till post 50 and incarnate buffs the clarion that also has the power boost is the way to go.

I played around with TM on beta pop clarion --> pop PBU --> pop farsight ---> chrono shift and go to town.

As far as all the love for TM on controllers I would agree with everyone else and the melee heavy primaries, but as stated Ill is plain fun to play and TM adds a new twist to it. Ill IMO is not a super active set and therefore you can focus on all the fun toys TM has to offer.

As far was the lack of love corrs are getting I had a BR/TM bumped to 50 tricked it out with iOS and can say that it was a blast. If you always want to be clicking something and like an active playstyle then go corr. Oh and scourgeration (scourge + disintegration) is just plan nasty. Not going to do fire damage but not everyone likes fire.

    Invuln on scrappers is garbage?!

Ok, it is a late-blooming set on both scrappers and brutes. But a properly constructed invuln toon is...invulnerable.

No, it will never do the most damage. Where other sets get secondary powers that make them faster, Invuln gets a power that makes them more invulnerable. Where other secondary's get damage auras, Invuln gets INVINCIBILITY. Where other sets get powers that add more damage, Invuln gets no less than THREE passive powers that makes them EVEN TOUGHER.

Invuln is all about being the toughest **** that ever walked the planet...short of wearing five tons of animated rock for a suit.

Long ago, somebody posted something I found very profound.

In the real world, huge damage is easy to get. Bombs, missiles, machine guns, are all extremely destructive, the army has those things by the hundreds. What makes you really SUPER HUMAN, what makes you really, truly stand out, is when you walk out of that kind of a hellstorm and keep on fighting.

Invuln does that better than anything.

To-wit: The first perfect max run ever completed on my OMG challenge map (209245) was by an invuln tanker, and I believe the fastest perfect max run anyone ever claimed credit for was an invuln scrapper.

    Garbage? Not hardly.
For the record I never said it was garbage on a scrapper, others have due to lower base Heath and lower res cap than tanks and brutes. I have crunched numbers in Mids and can build a fairly solid invuln on scrappers. Was just wondering how the synergy was with WM as both are heavy on end.
  5. I played around a bit with WM in beta the other day and I will concur that it is going to be a force to recon with as a scrapper set. When the attacks crits it is just plan nasty (I'm looking at you clobber). The set will require tons of recharge so I am torn as to what secondary to take with it once it goes live. I have plenty of SR toons as well as SD. I too was looking at EA with the changes, however for some reason I want to roll an invulnerable scrapper. Anyone have any advice on invul on scrappers I have heard it is garbage, but I like to prove the masses wrong.

Couldn't agree more. I thought the same thing WTH, but first thing I do is pop it when I enter a mission. Best part is if you get in first and use it, it will open the map for your whole team.

I can't wait a few more days and I will have the remote access to the vault as well as the auction house.

I should have taken better notes about the Paragon Rewards based on what I saw at Comic Con, but I think that (and a couple other new rewards) are still account wide, whereas the T9 stuff with the circulating arrows drawn around them are for individual characters.

But no, I've not seen redname commentary specifically on this. I'm going off of memory of what I saw last weekend, which may or may not change prior to the release. And, of course, there was a lot going on, so my memory may be slightly flawed.
I saw the build at SDCC as well didn't play with the reward system too much, but as you understand it we will have to fill the tree for each toon? If so if I select the tier 9 VIP costume pieces which as I understand are account wide on one toon I can select another tier 9 on another? Or will the consumables be made into a voucher in which only one toon can claim?

If the later is the case, as it most likely will be, my best guess is the tier 9s will be account wide whereas the consumables from the market will be a character based voucher.

Has this been confirmed by a red name or is it speculation?
I get currently get my consumable patrol xp on all toons.
  9. I think I have a good understanding of the new rewards system, however the same canned reply from red names doesnt clear up some confusion. If I have selected all of my respecs from current system when the new system goes live will I get all of the repecs again? Or will the system take in account what I have used already?

Also while I assume it will still be per character and not per account can this be officially confirmed.

Btw the way I understand it is the tokens you receive WILL be applied to the rewards you have already unlocked. So you will not have the FREEDOM to select what you wish to take with previous rewards only with the future tokens you receive.

Another question I have is since certain vets will be screwed out of the city traveller now that travel is available at lvl 4 what do we receive in place of the city traveller reward? Oh please more chest emblems that never get used like the Greek symbol!!!!
  10. I was wondering the same as I too store my respecs and tailor tokens until I need them.
  11. DOOM is all I see lately with the $10 price on powersets, while I agree $10 is kinda steep for a powerset what fails to be considered is that the current prices on the market are PLACEHOLDERS!!! War Witch and Black Scorp made this a point when I spoke with them at Comic Con.

Even if they are $10 you do not need to buy them. Hell I would have never purchased dual pistols or demon summoning if they didn't come with GR. If you don't like melee you aren't forced to buy street justice or Titan. If you hate ranged then save your points and don't get beam rifle. (though I will say the animation on street justice is nice, and the guns for beam are slick)

That being said I will call DOOM if I have to pay for dark control or illusion for Doms

I'll consider it to be the Extreme Wardrobe Malfunction Booster (well, the first 4 things anyway).

Was able to check out the market while at sdcc and I did not see any of the "costume card" characters. What I did see was similar to what you get during the Halloween event. I was hoping to pick up the paragon police one I think they gave out at pax a few years back, but didn't see it.
  13. To clear up my post. Titan weapons was not on the build that was shown on the floor. I was told it would show up after I21 but before I22. No mention on if that ment I21.5 or if it would show up in the market. Scorpion told me they will be adding stuff to the market weekly. But to be clear no Titan at I21 launch and it looks like it will be premium like street justice and beam rifle.

Time manipulation is not a "premium" power set and is included "free" with a VIP subscription.
  14. The 5th tier of the travel powers are pretty nice. Flight gets overdrive which boost flight speed. Teleport gets a zone tp power. SS gets a power that instantly recharges all your powers ( 30 min timer i think) and leaping gets a pbaoe high damage attack.

Oh forgot to mention there was a hover board travel power in the new market interface.
  15. I'm here at comic con and spoke with posi. The sets are on the floor to view and will be in I21, however I was told they will be premium power sets which are not included with the VIP subscription and must be purchased with points. Currently they are 800 points ($10) each. Street justice is has a combo system of sorts. They are also adding a 5th power to all travel sets. And travel powers are available at lvl 4 now.
