Where'd you find this? I didn't note a story on Massively, so was it an ad?

Well, he was "missing" from the image in that other thread. Then again, so is she....

Well the obvious choice for who to kill off first should be any sig character with an ally rez. Otherwise attempts to kill off anyone else will just result in them being resurrected by their comrades.
You know, like what Lady Grey did in the comics for most of the Freedom Phalanx? (or was it the Dark Watcher... I'm sure it's Lady Grey though since Manticore's said DW is actually a dark/regen scrapper)

Freedom Phalanx: DISASSEMBLED

Sorry, had to say it before someone else did. Like Hawkeye in Avengers my money is on Maticore.

You know, given that both of them are missing from that picture I think the broken bow is misdirection. My bet is on Sister Psyche dying and Manticore going Evil to get revenge (the broken bow is symbolic both of his broken heart and him giving up his father's legacy as a hero to pursue vengeance). Manticore has always been the most... morally flexible... member of the Phalanx so I could easily see his wife's death causing him to go uber-vigilante.

I don't know who, but I think it was Samuel_Tow who said something along the lines of "I don't think F2P is an indication of the game coming to an end. As soon as they start killing off the Freedom Phalanx, that's when we can start looking forward to CoH 2." (Disclaimer: Purely paraphrased from memory, and undoubtedly mis-quoted.) So, you heard it from him first folks!

No, I do not actually think they are "finishing" this game any time soon, considering they have only released half of the Incarnate powers they introduced less than a year ago, and most of the existing powers have yet to be expanded. Nevertheless, I am intrigued for what this will mean for the Signature NPCs and the in-game universe, especially ones like Manticore who give out Task Forces...

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.

Meh. It's not going to be the real Manticore. It'll be a Nemesis robot, pretending to be Chimera, who's trying to pass himself off as the real Manticore.

Big uber extrapolation here on this idea:

- Protean kills Sister Psyche.
- Manticore breaks his bow as a symbol to go full Vigilanter/borderline Villain, and seeks revenge on Protean.
- Ultimately, Sister Psyche is not really dead. She will be back, "mind riding" the body of someone else.
- Manticore will feel ashamed and come back with the Freedom Phalanx, or optionally maybe go full villain depending on the events that happened while he was searching for Protean and the time everyone though Sister Psyche was dead.

I really, really, hope they do not do this. Killing someone off and then bringing them back largely defeats the emotional impact of killing them off in the first place. No I realize that comic book heroes never stay dead but it still bugs me.

Yeah but like you said, super heroes dying and coming back is part of the genre. Also, we have to take into account all the changes that would happen in the game. If that scenario would happen, then they just need to change the look of Sister Psyche.

Who breaks their chief weapon purposely for revenge? You *need* that weapon to get revenge.
He will do what all superheroes do when they go vigilante/villain, he will use guns. :P

True, except supposing he doesn't NEED his bow to get revenge? What if he gains new super powers that replace his bow. The obvious example I can think of is that he somehow manages to tap into the Well of the Furies taking the "fast path" to power up for his revenge.

Alternatively the shock of Sister P's death awakens his latent mutant abilities allowing him to kill people with his mind.
