I'm betting on Sister Psyche.

Miss Liberty would be a surprising choice but IMO a not bad one from a storytelling perspective.

Citadel is also a good candidate to get the axe.

I think is because people think Ms. Liberty shares too many qualities with an unnamed forum poster.

Let's not forget: if Galaxy City's 'present' version goes all kablooey, then BABs will be vacated from his primary NPC responsibility. Of course he'll still be present in the past version 'Echo of Galaxy City', but otherwise there is no reason for him to be alive, story-wise.

NCSoft will be getting no more of my money and my GW2 purchase was halted the day of the announcement. I'm a loyal and very profitable customer. I hope to return to giving them all of my money, should CoH survive.

I'm sure grandpa has no hate for Megan.

Could be he's more like his counterpart than he likes to admit.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Wasn't hate from me, just who I think would be most interesting to kill off. The reactions from the other signature characters (Statesman in particular) would be interesting and there is story potential in someone else getting their hands on her sword. She is also a big name to existing/returning players.

Besides, she will die of overwork once Freedom hits anyway, what with her being the trainer in the only blueside starting zone!

EDIT:

Oh, and if they are being sneaky, the image could be described as a broken longbow.

Always remember, we were Heroes.

No, because that's a compound bow.

I don't think they'll kill off anyone who's a TF contact.

Looks sick though! Love the direction of the COH writing/story right now!

I think whoever broke Manticore's bow is the one that's going to die. Hope it wasn't me.

Well, the Brawler might do the sensible thing and go back into retirement and take the Missus on a nice cruise.

Well, you could show us, then we would have seen something yet

By the way, are these signature arcs going to use the new comic book style intros/loading screens?

I'd hate to spoil anything this early, but you'll DEFINITELY, without a doubt, want to check out the panel at SDCC. Definitely a lot more coolness to tell you guys about.

Zwillinger said he's going to be streaming live video coverage of the panel for us - so I hope that includes any screenshots or concept art that's shown

Oy vey! I pity the fool who breaks Manticore's bow. If Sister Psyche gets killed he'd go Death Wish on the entire planet. Not a good time to be a bad guy.

I really hope that's what we get with the signature story arcs.
I hadn't thought of it this way, "a monthly comic book that we can play". But yeah, it seems like maybe they're aiming for that, considering the new multi-loading screen technology that will allow us to flip through several "pages". I also seem to remember in one of the recent interviews, it was mentioned that this would get more use than just in the new Galaxy City tutorial.

I enjoyed the CoH comic books, and all the comics being produced by players. But THIS is a fracking cool way for them to take it to the next level. Unmoving storylines and underdeveloped signature characters are a common problem in MMORPGs. For a comic book-themed game, this sounds like the perfect antidote: monthly installments, just like the comics, pushing stories and characters forward. It could also present an opportunity for new or well-known comic book authors to come on board for some guest contracts. Would be cool. (I bet someone's thought of that.)

Of course, our characters are the REAL stars of this fiction. So I hope this will also inspire some of our more popular Mission Architect authors to start cranking out some episodic arcs. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has played through a great story arc, and wished the author had kept going with the world they briefly introduced me or my team to. (You can buy extra arc slots in the in-game store from the character roster screen.)

As for who will be dying (or "falling"), I have my ideas, just like everyone else. But I hope I'm wrong. When it comes to these kinds of story arc teasers, the best writing is always the kind that surprises.

I love this idea and hope you're right. I really, really, REALLY miss the old CoH comic.

I just hope they get added to Oroborous (even if as some kind of unlockable because we ran it before content, or something) because I dig going back and re-reading stories when they're finished to see how they unfold from beginning to end. I do that with my comics and if this is the new version of they CoH comic, I will want to do that here too.

I still wish they made them as comics, because I really felt a connection between the lore, the source material, and the game through it. However this might be something that could bridge the gap if done well.

Looking forward to it!

(even though I didn't get any such e-mails )

I couldn't agree more.

This. He makes minimal appearances in other missions. He has no real task force. His zone is going kablammo.

Sometimes the obvious choice is the right choice.
