I did wonder if the Double XP would also apply to the Bonus XP you get for doing the WST. But then I noticed the WST for that w/end is Tin Mage, so it's a moot point this time I guess.
Could be interesting if they schedule another one down the line when it's one of the lower level TFs that's the WST though...

A little more advanced notice would've been nice. Some of us have to give our supervisors two week's advanced warning or we're not allowed to take a vacation day.

Yes! For the first time in years my schedule and the dble xp weekend are in synch! I have EVERY day of that weekend FREE! Hahahahahaha! And having said that, I'm sure my gaming karma is in jeopardy.

Especially not when the game is going free in about 6-10 weeks (numbers are my estimate). And not when free transfers are a gift to paying VIPs in I21.
The Devs de-coupled double xp weekends from free activation weekends a long time ago and have never looked back.

Second: We have had exactly ONE Double XP weekend without Free Reactivation / Free Server Transfers since the last one that had them, so your best guess is based entirely upon ONE instance, unless you somehow have inside information.

Since the last, combined Double XP and Free Reactivation, there have been three weekends where we've had one or the other, but not both. And free character transfers were only included because they had extended the free transfer period (actually, I think they just forgot to shut it down) and were about to shut it down right before the 2x/Reactivation weekend, so they said, 'what the heck', and extended it for the weekend. Free character transfers were never intended to be part of a Double XP or Reactivation weekend.
The Servers took huge hits on the combined weekends and caused the establishment of the hated Server Queues. Even with the recently increased capacity of the servers, it doesn't make sense to tempt fate. Besides, by separating the two events, they can have more events and entice people back in more subscription periods than having one, big blow-out that annoys the currently subscribing.
Here is the history of the events:
- July 21, 2006 - 2xXP Only
- January 26, 2007 - 2xXP Only
- June 15, 2007 - 2xXP Only (coupled with Referral Program)
- February 08, 2008 - 2xXP Only
- Thursday, May 22 - Reactivation Only
- July 18, 2008 - 2xXP Only
- January 23, 2009 - 2xXP Only
- July 31, 2009 - 2xXP Only
- October 8, 2009 - Both 2xXP & Reactivation
- March 4, 2010 - Both 2xXP & Reactivation (free character transfer end date was extended to be active for this weekend)
- Thursday, October 7th - Reactivation Only
- January 27, 2011 - 2xXP Only
- Wednesday, May 8 - Reactivation Only
- July 28, 2011 - 2xXP Only

Both of the reactivation events between the last combined Double XP / Reactivation and now were coupled with other events (Going Rogue and Global Server Access, respectively). There is reason to be hopeful enough to ask.
Not everything always makes it into the press release at first release, either. That is what these threads are for: to react and to ask questions for clarification.
I have subscribed without deactivation for a time spanning every one of those events and before and not once was I annoyed by the "big blow-outs." Beyond that, it makes fine sense to combine them, as 2xXP often reminds people just how fun City can be and gets people invested or re-invested in their characters. I have no idea what the numbers are, but I suspect that there were many people that re-activated their accounts after the combined weekend events. I know several that did just that.
Again, I was and am asking for clarification and a definitive answer, not speculation. I can speculate with the best of them, all on my own.

This is your chance to level up those heroes or villains you couldn't find time for! Unless you're in serious need of Inf or Prestige for a bit of super shopping in game, in which case you'll be happy to learn that you'll also get double the Inf and double the Prestige over the Double XP Weekend!
So start planning, start thinking up that dream build or get those characters back into the game! The Double XP Weekend is going to be upon us on July 28th!
