New Power! No Points!

I fear this will be the case when Titan Weapons goes live. I could see lusting after it, and not getting to play it.

Well as long as you remained subscribed to CoH you do get 400 Paragon Points. Maybe you'l have enough stored up when CoH Freedom launches

I would be very surprised if they charged much more than 400 points for a power set, since that is worth 5 bucks. Your monthly stipend should be plenty enough.

I'll be very surprised if they charge subscribers for new power sets unless they start cranking out a large number of them.

@Doctor Gemini

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

This is my fervent hope: that the devs create so many new powersets that I must purchase more points to get them all.

Wasn't it already mentioned that the Titans weapons powerset would only be available via Paragon Market?

This is what I want to see.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Unless something very recent came out, I didn't see any reference to Power Sets that would be available via the Paragon Store.

Unless that PC Gamer article meant that...

Pushing the button.

I told my wife today that next month for my B-day that I wanted my Sub paid for a year. I hope that when it all hits I will get all of my points for my paid time at once. The frightening thing is that I have 4 kids, and I never know what is going to come up in the budget, which is part of why I want my Sub paid for a year.

Or maybe they'll do like that other game, where you have to buy stuff when it's new, but it eventually becomes available to the subscribers for free.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Might be the wrong place to post this, but this is the only applicable thread within the first page, so here goes:

Extra Credit released a very cool video on microtransactions that's probably worth seeing.

As per Zwillinger in this thread.

If you start your yearly subscription on (say for example) July 26th, then you get 400 points on the 26th of every subsequent month.

As for Titan Weapons, we have indeed been told that it will come after Issue 21 goes live. What we have to hope is that it comes as a free update and not (as some, including myself, are fearing) as a purchasable power set that everyone must pay for.

In one Ustream it was also stated that if you paid a bulk sub, that you would get all of those paid time points at once. The question is more if this will be retroactive.

Small point - "That everyone who wants to use Titan Weapons must pay for."

Just sayin', is all.

Well went searching throught the dev posts and couldn't find anything, thought it was mentioned that it was going to be through Paragon Market. Guess it was one of those hallucinogenic episodes.

Not an official redname post, but the recent Massively.com article here said:

One of the really cool elements that was shown off was something I inadvertently alluded to a few weeks back: two-handed melee weapons. It turns out that isn't coming in a Super Booster but in the new store. It also promises to change the dynamic of the weapon sets to reward a slightly different playstyle, emphasizing repeated weapon strikes in quick succession. Interesting stuff, to be sure, although I was told that it won't quite be ready for the store's launch. But hey, you have to leave something for further on down the line.
There are two references there to it being available through the store. I'm inclined to believe that the powerset will require additional purchase.

And like Emberly said, I'm okay with that... I'm quite fine with paying for more powersets if they keep cranking them out at a good pace.

(I still think we need at least one more FREE Mastermind primary, though.)

I will also point out that one of the background pictures in that WAS City of Heroes interestingly enough.

And yes, listen to Extra Credit, they're not just random people on teh internet, they're games devs, industry analysts and other people who actually work in the industry.

So yes, Devs listen to Extra Credit and listen damn well hard.

Great link Samuel_Tow. There were actually a number of things in that video that I had not thought of but, upon hearing them explained, are BIG pitfalls. Worst yet, I see some of them as prospective features in CoH Freedom, namely the "giving paying players access to areas/content that free players do not get to access." I certainly hope the Devs see that video, maybe already have, and that they make adjustments accordingly.

Thanks for linking that video! I really liked it, and it put a voice to my misgivings with the 'exclusive' server and other content paying players will get access to that the free and premium won't.

I wasn't really keen on the idea but I didn't have a well-formulated argument for it- That hit the nail on the head. Yeah I really hope the Dev's see this video.

I couldn't agree more.
