Fire Blast in i21
I think Thermal is significantly more attractive for Defenders than Fire Blast. Fire Blast's only redeeming quality on Defenders is RoF, and Defenders get more out of Ice Storm+Blizzard than RoF+Inferno.

I'm happy for both of these ports. If Forge and 2 debuffs get upgraded for Defender modifiers (and I see no reason they won't), that's pretty sweet.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
I would still rather play Fire Blast on a corr, or blaster. Sure, it will pump out the most damage for a defender, but it still lacks scourge that corrs get, or the higher numbers of a blaster. I only recently started playing a /thermal, and I like the idea of it coming to defenders.
So, I'll get to Herdicane something into a deathball, drop FR for -35% (plus possibly 20% from proc) Resistance, and then Fireball something?
I have been wanting Thermal to be ported to defenders for a long time now. Will be making a new defender the second this goes live, cant wait!
Someone stated something about thermal shields being AoE, when and where was that mentioned? I have a Demon/Thermal/Heat MM, there shields arent AoE, least not atm.
i actually like the sound of all of those proliferations, now ill be able to scrap a few of my scrappers in favor of brutes
already got a katana/dark armor scrapper thats gonna be on the chopping block in favor of a brute and maybe even martial arts/fire armor scrapper (will replace with tank)
the energy aura revamp will give me a reason to revisit my elec/energy stalker and may also remake him into a brute
i have more planning to do

Indeed, mastermind thermal shields became single cast AoE with the arrival of Issue 20.5 as well as the forcefield buffs My Zombie/Thermal mastermind loves the upgrade.

I am excited! Just realized I can reroll my Cold/Fire Corr to a Defender!
Fire Blast tier 1 or tier 2 you can tend to switch off between with not to much of a worry.
With Cold Dom as Primary, I can skip infrigidate! Which, truthfully, I was never really impressed with on my Cold/Ice Defender.
I'm sure there are people out there who think it's great and awesome and really adds to the set. But I really just didn't see it being all that useful. :/

I'm a huge Thermal fan so I started a new DP/Thermal Corruptor when I20.5 dropped- He's 28 now but I think I'll shelve him and reroll as a Thermal/DP Defender! Yes!!!

Just out of curiosity, why switch? Do you like the Defender numbers that much? Or is it a concept thing? Just wondering, since all the proliferation stuff is making me wonder whether I should make and/or remake some characters as Corruptors or Defenders. I favor Defenders conceptually for some reason, but not entirely sure why.
So I'm just wondering your thoughts on it. Or anyone else's. I am truly stumped.

The secondary effects of the different ammo types are a nice bit of extra fluff for everyone else, but on Defenders it can actually be worth using something other than "all fire ammo, all the time."

Cold/DP Defender is the exception because it allows me to skip Infrigidate. I'm grabbing all the DP powers except for one later one anyways. And Cold/ for Defenders gives better defense numbers.
Now with Cold/Fire, tier 1 and 2 arent to different to worry about, and again, I get to skip Infrigidate.
When I decide it's usually based on if the blasts are important to me. Do I want to skip a tier 1 ability on the Secondary, but not on the Primary and vice versa.
Then it's a numbers game.

Defender secondaries all have one thing in common: They have a secondary effect to apply aside from the damage it deals. Defender secondaries cover pretty much every secondary effect there is, so a -dam effect would round it out (since they don't have a set that does that yet) I suspect that, in a way, that's why they hesitated on giving Fire Blast to defenders for so long.
It would pair well with Thermal as well. Thermal buffs allies resistance, while the Fire debuffs enemies' damage.
I doubt it will happen, but I can hope.

I don't expect to see Fire Blast getting a -DMG component. It's secondary effect has always been it's DoT for more damage.
And giving Defenders the -DMG component would have the others clamoring for it.

Archery has no secondary effect.
Arguably neither does Assault Rifle (some powers in AR do (One defense debuff, 4 KB), but the set a a whole does not).
I don't expect to see a debuff added to fire just for defenders.
it's debuff will be making things dead, the best debuff of all.
Since no one else has started the thread I thought I would. Also Thermal Radiation, but I thought Fire Blast would have move excitement.
